I love Mullen's passion

I've always liked Dan, and some of his comments, 'like why his DC would take a lateral move to UF,' actually made me laugh instead of getting pissed at him. SOS did, and does the same kinds of things to his opponents. NBD :D

Wouldn't you be if you just landed one of the plum coaching jobs in the nation after:

* finishing an average of 4th in your division each year
* having a losing record in the SEC
* zero division titles
* zero conference titles
* zero BCS bowl wins
* zero top 10 offensive ranked teams, even though you're a supposed offensive guru
* going 2 - 15 against ranked opponents (worst in AP history)
* having a losing season just a year ago

Talk about failing upward. I'd be grinning like a moron too if that happened to me. That's like accidentally burning down your office cube and getting promoted to CEO for it.

If you can’t appreciate we hired our first true Gator since Steve GTFO. Seriously. He was no one’s first choice but the guy is ALL Gator. Get on board or GTFO

“What do you do when you’re a Florida Gator fan and you start coaching? You wear a visor...I don’t know if I wear quite as stylishly as he did...”

Love it.

I’m like 3 minutes in and I love it.

And did not miss the championship ring he’s wearing.

Also heard via Twitter that when he was sitting in the HC office with the three national title trophies behind him, they took a picture and he said “I’ve already got my picture made with two of those.”

Love it.

About to watch it and I think I’m going to be even more onboard once I do

After watching the preser he is a lot more competitive and passionate than I originally thought. He was very young his first go around at UF. You can tell he’s learned a lot since he was last here.

I like his comment to the players about rest up in December because it’s going to be the toughest offseason they’ve ever had.

Time to bring out the puke buckets again from the Meyer era.

Knowing who was actually the AD's first choice is speculation and opinion, not fact. :cool:

No one but the AD really knows who it was that he first talked to, just who was the one thrown out there for public consumption. o_O

And IF the Zoni-Troll really wanted to know about Mullen, then he could go here and review the actual facts about him, instead of just shooting off his ignorant, biased mouth. :rolleyes:

He won the press conference... for him this is just the beginning.... the last guy, that would be peak performance.

I don't understand why some snowflakes have their panties in a wad over a simple comment he made.

He made it in jest and was taking up for what was his current job. I myself did not take it as a slight to UF.

Now looking at it now that it is over. Leaving a staff at MSU led by Mullen and taking a position under Jim McElwain was indeed a lateral move and that's putting it kindly. Honestly it was a downgrade in hindsight.

Haha

“I know how important scoring here is...I’ve been here...Coach Spurrier may disagree with me, but nobody likes scoring points more than me. I love scoring. I’ll score a hundred I don’t care I’ll keep going. I love scoring.”

Yesssssssssssssss.

Say all the right things to me sweet baby Mullen and your large offensively filled head.

Something tells me Steve truly is on board with this hire, not just talking the game. This damn well may be the perfect fit.

Winning over more and more Gators as the day goes on.

To be fair he was my second choice. Behind Frost. I got caught up in the idea that he has tons of potential upside.
But I’ve had some connection to the MSU program the last couple of years and I’ve really grown to respect and appreciate what Mullen has done there.

We couldn’t possibly hire a better man for the program. He will win with quarterbacks that ALL have moxy. He will be as big and physical throughout the lineup as anyone else in the country. He will have as much skill and speed as anyone else in the country. They will play extremely hard for him. Get ready for some fun!

I hate coming across as a dick to this guy, but damn. Anyone who watched his arrival and presser today or has read anything from those inside has to at least be willing to roll with it. I feel 100% certain we have already begun to improve the program. If his ceiling isn’t what we hoped, we move on later. But damn, the guy will fix the program for sure.

Mullen should have been your choice 3 years ago.
Yes indeed.

As much as I appreciated what Foley did for basketball, baseball, track, softball, and all other sports. I never understood his football hires and processing. He was almost stupid in that aspect. We were fortunate Machen had the connection to Urban...if not who knows who would have been hired and we would have sucked since the early 00's and wouldn't have the titles we have now.

It's because Foley somehow didn't understand how much more money other SEC programs put into football and how lucky our coaching made us bypassing all that and made the talent and money we had work better because of guys like Mullen and the x's and o's aspect.. You have to pay for big time smart football chalk board coaches to have that edge at this level to win against teams with your level of talent or above.. and we fell off on both ends for 8 years because of his ego with the best coaches and being a cheap skate when everyone else evolved in the SEC past us..

Same reason why Sumlin doesn't have a job at A&M anymore, they put too much money into the sport to have it offset by a coach not smart enough with his mind to out scheme the others.. and watching guys like Mullen rip them apart for years with much less money on the budget and talent, same with LSU getting their ass handed to them and out game planned and out schemed by Mullen.. That's why Mullen will win big at UF, when those guys already have the advantage to win in transition class years with some other guys players like they did with Leak and Zooks guys, then still reel in their own.. They are the smartest football coaches and then have the top talent on top of it, and that's the exact recipe you get for = Championship football teams that win rings and hardware.. And we have that advantage back again...

You neglected to mention that he's also never had a top-20 recruiting class and in compiling a 14-11 record over the last two seasons here's some of the teams he has lost to (and keep in mind this is in years 8-9 of his tenure at State); South Alabama (at home!), BYU, Arkansas (at home!), Kentucky
