Grant Holloway continues to amaze. Not only did he break the national HS record in the 60H, running a 7.53, a time that would have won the NCAA meet, but he also competed in the Pentathlon and scored the 2nd best score for HS athlete. Indoors he is 2nd in the 55m (Joseph Lyles 1st, Noah Lyles 3rd), first in the 55H and 60H (national record holder), 1st in the 500m (just ahead of Joseph Lyles), 2nd in the long jump with a 25'11 1/4" (would have placed 3rd at the NCAA meet), 3rd in the HJ (as a soph he jumped 7'1") and now #1 in the Pentathlon with the 2nd best score ever. And he is new to the Pentathlon. It is freakish to be almost 6-3 and 200 pounds and have that type of speed and explosiveness. With proper training, he could become the next great American decathlete. A shame the trio was not able to enroll early. Holloway could have won the 60H, 3rd in the long jump, Noah Lyles would have been 2nd in the 200m and anyone of them would have helped the 4x400 relay. I am sure if Joseph focused on the 400m he would have been in contention in that event. His 6.65 in the 60 matches what Ryan Clark ran, who had the best time for a freshman. With those 3 we would have added at least 24 points to our score. And all 3 continue to get better every year. Going pro is always a possibility, but I think all 3 will come to UF for at least a couple of years. It would be nice if he decides to migrate to the football field. He would obviously be raw, but that is due to the fact that he did not go to football camps in the summer because he was always competing in track during the summer. He is a special athlete.
