I take it as being young and dumb for the most part. How they were raised in many cases. I was raised to be racist...99% of us were where we live. It actually is incredible that 99% of us changed as time passed...even the people who were teaching us to be that way. I think this form of not being proud of our Country comes from the parents. There is ZERO chance it would happen in our house.
In this instance, I probably agree with you. With the people who purposely disrespect our flag and Country...I could not disagree with you more.
I think we may have some differing viewpoints on what disrespecting the country and flag looks like. I do think for the most part we're on the same page, I think some antics and commentary goes too far.
Goodness. Defending people that aren't patriots must be exhausting. I don't see how they do it.

I'm not super familiar with this case but from what little I've seen, it seems like a reach.
I think everyone should cross their heart but if you're willing to stand up, shut up and not be a distraction, I can live with it.
You know, grew up in NYC watching Mets games (family were Dodgers fans) and we ALWAYS stood and ALWAYS put hand over heart. All of us. As young kids, no exception.
Played HS baseball in Tampa. No exception.
Now? It is sad and agree with Bama, Captain, etc.
I think a person does not have to show outward love for America. Having this feeling, you are no better than the communists/fascists/democrats. BUT...I also believe people that are representing our Country, and in public light should not make ANY political statements on our dime. Even if it is not on our dime...that is not the place. And for athletes/hollywood go ahead.....I just will never support you in any way. If I owned a team, I would fire someone on the spot for doing so.
I don't watch chick soccer but congrats to Sweden.
