Although Baylor has 6 pitchers on the roster, they rely primarily on 2 pitchers:
RyLee Crandall 35 games, 26 starts, 147 IP, 55 BB, 105 K's, 17 HR, 3.10 ERA
Aliyah Binford, 29 games, 22 starts, 143 IP, 66 BB, 147 K's, 13 HR, 3.23 ERA
The Gators have the higher ranking and the clear statistical edge. However in a 3 game series anything can happen. Gooo Gators!!!
Bats were a little quiet today, and Rothrock didn't have her best stuff early on, but in spite of that this team still won. Actually impressive.Florida beats Baylor 4-2 behaind a complete game from Keagan Rothrock, now 29-6. This is the Gators' 50th win of the year for only the 11th time in program history. Link will be posted when article comes out.
Well it’s nice to see an SEC preseason #8 make it to WCWS.FINAL: Florida 5, Baylor 3 - Florida Gators
A recap of the Gators' victory in the rubber Game 3 of their NCAA Super Regional series against the Bears.floridagators.com
Gators didn't play all that well, but got the W. Two base running blunders cost them runs and a throwing error from the outfield led to an unearned run for Baylor. But Keagan Rothrock battled through and got the last 3 outs with 2 on in the 7th against Baylor's 3 best hitters to end the game. I honestly don't care if they go 2 & out in the WCWS. This team has overachieved big time 51-13, 4th seed, riding the arms of 2 freshmen almost exclusively. Amazing coaching job by Tim Walton and his 2 assistants.
Their first game will be against Walton's best friend and former Gator assistant Kenny Gajewski and his Oklahoma State team, who has one of the Top 2 pitchers in D1 - Lexi Kilfoyl.
It was the freshmen who carried the day yesterday and 2 seniors who made base running blunders. My humble opinion is if not for that baserunning error we would have blown it open. Would've been 5-0 with bases juiced and not outs. But this feels like a really young team. Lots of true freshman playing.
Ocala so if I understand correctly, we have 4 of our 8 position players are freshman? Plus our two main pitchers? It was the freshmen who carried the day yesterday and 2 seniors who made base running blunders.
3 of the 8. Ava Brown plays 1st when not pitching, Mia Williams plays 2nd, Ariel Kowalewski plays 3rd, Keagan Rothrock is our primary pitcher. All freshmen. Our #3 pitcher is Olivia Miller, also a freshman.Ocala so if I understand correctly, we have 4 of our 8 position players are freshman? Plus our two main pitchers?
All of those stats have to be balanced with who they got their stats against across the season. 🤓Team Earned Run Average - Florida 2.78 - Oklahoma State 1.99
WHIP - Florida 1.19 - Oklahoma State 1.08

Home Runs Allowed - Florida 40 - Oklahoma State 28
Batting Average Against - Florida .220 - Oklahoma State .209
Keagan Rothrock - 30-7, 2.43 ERA, 233.2 IP, 86 BB, 186 K's, 24 HR, .205 BA Against
Ava Brown - 16-5, 3.35 ERA, 121.1 IP, 55 BB, 67 K's, 12 HR, .228 BA Against
Lexi Kilfoyl - 26-3, 1.06 ERA, 171.0 IP, 30 BB, 146 K's, 7 HR, .172 BA Against
Ivy Rosenberry - 13-4, 1.94 ERA, 108.1 IP, 35 BB, 94 K's, 8 HR, .229 BA Against
This is a very tough match-up for the Gators. Florida has a slight edge offensively, fielding is exactly even and Oklahoma State has the pitching edge, with Kilfoyl being either the #1 or #2 pitcher in the country this year.
Good points. We played each other early in the season in Gainesville and they beat us and Rothrock 3-0. Kilfoyl tossed a 3 hitter, Ava Brown getting 1 and Katie Kistler getting 2. Keagan threw a 2-hitter, but they both came in the 3rd inning with a walk included, one of them a 3-run homer with 2 outs. Both teams have gotten better since then, of course. Kilfoyl is a legit elite pitcher - probably the only one better in D1 is that girl from Stanford, Canady. But our team is resilient. Ya never know, but at this point, even if they lose 2 straight and get bounced, they have exceeded everyone's expectations and this will only give them exposure, experience and motivation to be even better next year. All of those stats have to be balanced with who they got their stats against across the season. 🤓
UF played in the conference that got all 13 teams in a Regional, and 6 into the Super-R.
Florida is 21-10 (31) vs. Top 25 RPI teams. Oklahoma State is 10-5 (15).
I'm not dissing on OKSt or the Big-12, but I'm not much afered of deem-eddier....
It comes down to who has their best game ready to go on a given day,,, as always.
I think we only had 2 hits, but we had some good at bats. Just seemed like everything was hit right at them. Souds like another phenom pitcher on SaturdayKeagan Rothrock throws a 2-hitter and Katie Kistler blasts a solo HR in the bottom of the 5th innings. Gators beat Oklahoma State in a pitching duel 1-0. Great defense from Florida, especially a tremendous catch by Kendra Falby running into the CF wall. But it was all Rothrock, who hit her spots the whole game and kept a great hitting Cowgirl team from getting anything going. 2 walks in the 1st inning and 2 scattered singles were it. She outdueled maybe the best pitcher in the country, a grad senior who came into the game with a 1.06 ERA. AWESOME
We get #1 Texas next Saturday night at 7 pm on ESPN.
My guess is that Texas will use a different pitcher agaqinst UF than the freshan Teagan Kavan. They have 5 pitchers they use, 3 starters. Kavan has the HIGHEST ERA at 2.08!!! Kavan is 19-2 and has thrown 121.1 innings. Mac Morgan is 15-1, 1.99 ERA and has pitched 98.2 innings. Citally Gutierrez is 11-2, 1.87 ERA and has thrown 90 innings. My guess is that Morgan gets the start against Florida. Of course, Rothrock will be in the circle for us.I think we only had 2 hits, but we had some good at bats. Just seemed like everything was hit right at them. Souds like another phenom pitcher on Saturday
