While his methods were illegal lets look at the motivation. Supposedly the real reason for the break-in was because high ranking dems were using the hotel to have sex with call girls.

Had Liddy been able to get the goods on them then the republican revolution of 94 would have happened 2 decades earlier but with a much more liberal Nixon as the pub prez.

When I say liberal I mean compared to Reagan or even W. Looking at the problems we have with debt and China I am not a big fan of Nixon's policies. But seeing how dems gave Clinton a pass and hounded Trump, Nixon might deserve an apology for unfair treatment even though he was in the wrong.
