Florida vs USCe in the Elite Eight

South Carolina got away with traveling on that long pass. Huge missed call in a two point game

Huge missed travel.

Huge foul call on Chiozza on that steal.

Tied with three minutes left SC has scored every possession. One foul on them.

Painful to watch. They play hard but really rough and with impunity these last three minutes. Gators played hard too and deserved a better fate.

White needs to bench anyone that does not go inside on every possession. We are dribbling around the perimeter and jacking up a last minute three. White getting badly out coached here

Hopefully he reads your posts from this year and comes back smarter.

There were bad calls against both teams, but officials generally reward the aggressive team and that was South Carolina in the 2nd half. Robinson didn't show up today and we had no answer for Thornwell. He was an NBA player going against college kids, IMO. One good thing about it if we lose is that Kasey Hill will be in Europe next year. The team will miss the heart of Justin Leon more than anything else.

To a degree the referees got caught up in the toughness storyline.

Easy to be tough when you grab and push with no fouls. Shameful end to a good game. Complete referee meltdown the last few minutes. Complete.

Sure, sour grapes but good lord.

He just might. He finally figured out that Chiozza is our best PG.

Until the last few minutes of this game, that is.

Happily, after 10 more seconds, we never have to see another Hill turnover in crucial times of the game

Don't ever think refs don't influence the outcome of athletic events. They let South Carolina beat you guys to pieces.

The game changing call, as I saw it, was the foul on Chiozza's strip. Changed everything after that. The four step gather after the long pass did not help.

Different coaches, different players, same results in the elite 8.

Losing to that shit team is embarrassing, im sorry but losing to them in the SEC to top off all of our epic chokes in the elite 8 is embarrassing...

Gonzaga is a better team this year than the Gators. They are complete. Will take a game of similar whistles fr SC to be competitive. Congratulations to them, they are tough, have some players, and believed. But...so did the Gators, and with all that, the last three minutes were a sports travesty from the stripes.

I'm no basketball expert but I saw something REALLY strange the last 5 minutes of the game. Florida stood around on offense when SC was in zone. No post player anywhere in the middle. NOWHERE near the paint. A bunch of dribbling and waiting for the shot clock to wind down like we were ahead by 10 or 20 points. WTF? No post player to pass to, that's how we get all those kick out wide open 3's. That looked brain dead to me. What kind of offensive set is that? Any experts want to school me on that? I'm at a loss.

That missed travel on South Carolina changed the ending of that game. It went from Florida having the ball with a chance to tie to always being 4 or 5 points behind

Ha ha. And sure enough, all the pearl clutchers are back in force. I'm sure Mike White appreciates the support from you all these last 10 days between the Vandy loss and this one, and will try harder to meet all of your exacting standards next year. Hopefully, more balls will go in, which = GOOD.

I

SC went right at him and over him on 4 straight possessions. It turned out to be the difference
Meh. This one's not on Chiozza. In my opinion he should have gotten more minutes. Hill is still a walking turnover machine and takes wild ass shots. Turnovers in the first half kept us from having a 15 point lead at the half. I'm another not sorry to see Hill move on.

Not having Egbunu finally caught up to us in that game. South Carolina had way too many points in the paint and just kept going down low on us.

Great season. We won't miss Kasey Hill's untimely TOs that is for sure. I wish him the best though.

Chiozza is a good defender

Yes.

The odd stripes the last several minutes hurt.

But yes, missing all the threes of course hurt too. But, Gators were in position to overcome that before the critical no walk and foul on Cheese steal.

Shh....bradley will think you are criticizing White.

A combination of things, all bad, that caused this loss. Not adjusting to the officiating in the first half vs the second, poor ball movement in the second half, poor shooting in the second half, badly designed offensive sets in the second half and poor officiating.

I think Hill's middle name is Tom (Turn Over Machine).

It was a great season and we have a very good coach. Nobody had us in the Elite 8. Certainly nobody thought that after we lost Egbunu.
We made it a hell of a lot further than I thought, wasn't sure if it would be one and done to be honest. Losing Big E hurt down the stretch, the record during that period doesn't lie. I'm still at a loss what kind of offensive set we ran the last 5 minutes of the game. We looked like FSU in reverse, with Hamilton calling the offense.

By all means, oh wise one, share with us your great wisdom. Cast some pearls of insight among the swine. Lead us to enlightenment. Show us the error of our ways.

We did not lose the game because of the officiating, but it didn't help.

Terrible, just terrible sequence

The officials are always the same so they should expect it now... But they choked again as the better team with a sizeable lead, and they obviously will never stop doing it... Find a way to top it every time, losing to ****ing south carolina for the Final Four lol.. No one can pull off 3 leads like that in the elite 8 but Florida and doing whatever it takes to do it each time the same way, jacking up three brick after another. And the defense was the worst all season with easy baskets, they just are losers in the 2nd halves of this game every time. Flat out, straight up, plain and simple. They play like losers in the Elite 8.

The officiating did seems to change from 1st to 2nd half. They allowed a lot of banging bodies and incidental contact the 1st half and called most everything the 2nd half. But to allow our guys in the 2nd half to just dribble the 30 second clock away and then jack up another missed 3 time after time after time without calling a timeout, getting in someone's face or benching a player or two is a reflection on the coach, but also the leadership on the floor. I love Mike White and congratulate him for a fine year, but he didn't make the coaching adjustments needed in this game.
