Since 2005:

UF 15 wins
UT 1 win

UF 2 losing seasons
UT 9 losing seasons

UF: 2 SEC championships, 2 NCs
UT: zero championships

UF: 1 Heisman trophy
UT: 0 Heismans (ever)

WTF happened in 2005 that these two programs took such different turns. I believe when the SEC ref crew fu**ed up in Knoxville in 2004 it opened a ginormous can of cosmic karma for UT.

In reality it began around 1999 when Va Tech, LSU, Georgia, South Carolina, and even Vanderbilt began to improve their programs. UT used to cheery pick the best talent in VA, SC, LA, NC, and sprinkle in some top GA, CA, and MS talent to put together top 5 recruiting classes. Pipeline after pipeline began to dry up.

Difficult to envision Tennessee returning to 1990s form.

Yes they are still suffering Karma from that bullshiz call on Dallas Baker.

It was several factors that caused the decline of UT football. Once they choked their chance for a national appearance vs LSU and a backup QB in the Junior/Lulu SECCG in 01 they lost a little firepower. Then honestly Mark Richt happened. He was preventing UT from getting the recruits from GA. Butch Davis arrived at UNC later on and although he was a cheat he played a part of locking UT from cherry picking. Another factor, during the 90's it seemed UT always found a badazz or two from California. This was when USC was down. Then when Pete Carroll came along, finding that gold in California didn't happen. Then Spurs came to South Carolina and later Dabo to Clemson. The cherry tree had a fence around it.

UT had the facilities but when those TV contracts and bowl revenue kicked in, most all else in the SEC had them as well.

You know..........I'd actually forgotten that call on Baker. That was the worst call (single call) in NCAA history. You'd have to go back to the 2003 Swindle to find a more bullshit call. And that wasn't just one call, but more than half a dozen, so the weighting of a singular call is diluted. Phuck UT.

Forgot Carroll and USC but yes, literally all their fertile recruiting grounds dried up. They have not been able to find similar success.

Back in the 90s they said Fulmer constantly outworked SOS in recruiting. S

The Great Orange Pumpkin couldn't carry SOS's jockstrap. That's why they got rid of him. Little did they know, that was as good as it would ever get. 🤣

I still remember that SECCG game they lost to LSU. I happened to be in an adult establishment on the TN River in West TN. I told the UT fan watching beside me that this would UT's last chance to sniff a national title game for the next 30 years. He called BS. Well we are on year 18.

If not for a BS call on a field goal in Knoxville that was right over the upright (by a Gator kicker) , they wouldn't have been there that time either. 🤣 Wasn't that 1998? That's year 22 or 23. :)

We should have played in the natty that year. I am convinced we would have beat Tennessee in 2001 if that game had been played in September. Not having Earnest Graham after Dockett took him out really hurt us.
The Joke Hoke is the reason Spurrier left for the NFL. He just couldn't stand the fact his DC was totally incompetent. That and Foley didn't go after the SOW for sanctions for intentionally damaging EG's knee. Darnell Docket was pure thug.........and Booby approved.

I remember a UT game in Knoxville when a gator receiver and a vol defender were locked up blocking. The UT player swung and hit the receiver. The ref was staring right at the play(with hands on hips) then when the gator retaliated out came the flag. Sorry I’ll never get over that one.

That was the Dallas Baker incident mentioned above. UCHEAT didn't get their moniker for being innocent. That was a major travesty. Almost makes this year's election look legit.

Seems the officiating has regressed if that’s possible.

Yes 1998. Also John Capel returned the 2nd half kickoff for a TD but the official not close to him called him out of bounds around the 50. Replayed showed otherwise but back then replay review wasn't allowed.

The Noles are in the process of paying for their sins of years past. I hope they fall to a UT level lol!

Ah........memories. SOS called him John John. That's the same year UT beat Peter The Thief and Booby in the NC game. I'll never forget that year. So much unfulfilled potential. Shit the bed against Bama with a missed extra point, a fumbled punt. Shit the bed again against a shitty FSU squad in Tally. Two key players on defense kicked off the squad before kickoff. Marquand Manuel let a pick six slide through his hands for a TD to the Thief. Lots of BS memories of that year.

We beat Bama in 98 by a narrow margin. It was 99 we lost to them...twice.

Ah........that's right. UCHEAT and the SOW. UCHEAT was a steal, the dismal performance against the SOW was disgraceful though.. Doug Johnson sucked ass. Had a td touchdown recovery on a fumble only count for a safety, Manuel allowing a 14 point swing happen by letting an INT go right between his fingers. That was a horrible embarrassment. The SOW played a 3rd string scrub at QB. The Rooster. He was horrible, but it took all of us singing Gator Top (not Rocky Top) during the NC game to show his true skills up. 🤣

sadgator remembers the Dale Carter run back game in 1990...he remembers seeing the “our students don’t get killed” chant. sadgator was in Neyland in 1992 when the band played “Orange and Blue” after a score in the 4th after “Rocky Top” as bottles and papers and sh!t rained down on us...as it was a absolutely pouring... sadgator will never take a win over Tennessee for granted. Every one of them is special.

It is incredible what is the series has become.

Wooooow. They deserve what’s happening to them and then some. That’s horrific.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

Here are the ones that made me giggle at Church.

"We've beaten them once since iPhones and youtube were invented. Hard to say"

"When is global warming expected to cover the state of Florida with water?"

"Never"

"2222"

"In the year 2525..."

"When ever we get a real football coach"

"I am 70, so pretty sure I will never be able to witness it again."

"2070 i believe"

"I’ll be dead by then."

I remember that game very well. I've wanted UF to stomp their asses ever since. We pretty much have with a few exceptions here and there.
