Florida vs Kentucky Game Day Thread

Does Mac have to cry or give a corny speech after every near disaster? The guy is unbearable after games.

So, consider this.

Just got off the phone with my dad and he believes the last drive was called by Mac, not Nuss.

Here’s why I think that’s true.

Look at the expression on Mac’s face as he walks into the field, and his bizarre depression in his interview.

Theoretically, you should be excited, right? Pretty cool AND neat.

But instead he seems miserable.

I think there’s a possibility that Nuss is done play calling and Mac knows it’s on him now.

I don't really buy it. Even if he did though we didn't do anything different really. We ran between the tackles and moved down the field methodically because UK couldn't stop it. I'm very happy for our players who kept playing and made plays, they deserve to be rewarded with a win. But it's become very obvious if it wasn't already we barely beat bad teams in spite of this staff.

The last drive was called the same as the whole game. Nothing special

I think you may be correct because that last series did look different

Danny may be on to something...Mac seemed very excited to have DelRio in the game.

I haven't seem him communicate in the headset all damn year, but the second LDR hit the field you couldn't get him to shut up.

Really? I don’t recall throwing screen passes every play and pretending it’s a real pass.

The last drive was 8 between the tackles runs, two screens and a quick out to Goolsby. Plus the broken play to Thompson. Nothing out of the ordinary in there. One of the screens was the one to Powell on 3 and 6 where UK missed the tackle and we got the first.

Again, not a single play call in there that showed a drastic change

There was a good play call with Powell on the wheel route in which didn't count because Powell stepped out of bounds.

Honestly it really doesn't matter does it?? We aren't very good but I still don't want that to lose to UK and their crappy fans.

I wonder did Muschamp and Butch Jones meet up over the offseason because I swear Mac has that fairy dust Jones had last year!!

Even the call to Powell was putrid. 3rd and 6 and we throw a swing pass behind the line of scrimmage. What??? Thankfully he mad a great play to pick up the first, but that playcall if it was Mac is in line with the type of dumb shit Nuss does all the time. Much like the UT game, we won in spite of the staff. Toney, Davis, and Powell made plays in spite of what was called.

Thats what I was saying. That was a terrible call, ao its not like anything changed

The wheel to Powell was a nice call for the situation but if you watch some of our games last year you'll see that same jet sweep action where instead of staying in the flats we send hi on the wheel up the sideline. We've run that a bunch of times.

Right....Mac was talking about how he 'felt bad' for the other players because they lost...I was like WTH is wrong with this guy. I remember when we Muschamp beat Texas A&M and I think his exact words, post game "yeah it was really great to come up into their stadium and disappoint all of these (A&M's) fans"...while he was laughing. I"m not a big Muschamp fan but that was great.

I couldn't even think about what in the hell Mac was thinking about last night.

I love exciting games regardless of who is playing and I love it when the Gators win, no matter how it happens. So this was a win-win for me. I saw a defense that plays hard, but isn't nearly as good as last year. I saw a lot of mistakes, both mental and technical. But I saw a lot of effort, toughness and some really good plays from our guys. Franks has the physical tools, but locks onto the primary receiver and either tries to force it in or takes off too soon. Sometimes the O-line didn't give him time to look past the 1st option, but mostly it was on him, I think. Del Rio knows the offense inside-out and obviously gave the offense confidence in the 4th quarter. He should allow the playbook to be opened up more than under Franks, but we'll see. I still scratched my head and yelled at the TV numerous times over the play calling, but they still won the game. The SEC East (and maybe the SEC as a whole except for Alabama and maybe Georgia) is pretty average again this year. Even as flawed as this team is, we're in the hunt for Atlanta. On to Vandy and see what happens next. Gooooo Gators!

Some coaches just have that magic mojo. Mac seems to be one of those guys. We've had the reverse. This is much better!

He does in these close games against average or below average teams but he seems to have no mojo against the teams that end up good that season.

Look...they're dealing with a terribly young team, the OL is playing like shit, hostile environment, down by 13, getting late...

Everything was against us, and what did the coaches do? Exactly what you would hope they would...

They didn't panic, made changes, made all the right calls, put the players in an awesome position to win the game, and pulled it off. Honestly, sadgator has as much concern with the way we've started games as anyone, but you just simply have to tip your hat to that coaching staff on getting out of that place with a "W" last night. It wasn't a fluke, it was because of the way they managed the game.

Some good stuff there. :D

How did they manage the game by just giving Malik Davis the ball 100 times? Serious question. LDR was no better than Frank and the playcalling remained the same. After the INT they got even more conservative than usual and pretty much lined up and ran the ball every play. Hell they barely let him throw the ball. Toney, Powell, and Davis just pulled great plays out of their ass. We won in spite of the staff for the second straight week.

Now maybe that continues because the East is full of guys like Butch Jones and Mark Stoops but this team is very poorly coach and counting on things like a UK having 10 men on the field and not even sending a guy out to cover a receiver isn’t sustainable. Spin it how you want we’re a poorly coached team who isn’t 0-3 because we’ve happened to play two doofuses who are worse than the guys we have on the sideline.

If he continues to fall ass backwards into wins all the way through bama in Atlanta I will give him all credit. Don't think it's going to happen though.

It's legitimately the worst thing ever. Play like absolute garbage for 3 1/2 quarters, somehow end up barely beating bad teams, having to hear about how gritty we are and then nothing changes because hey we won. Then we start the next game off doing the same exact things. Like watching a bad movie on a loop, completely unenjoyable. I'm only happy for our players who find ways to make plays in spite of our staff.

Exactly so. With the exception of Arkansas last year, Mac has not lost to an inferior team. And, with the exceptions of UT in 15 and LSU last year, Mac has not beaten a particularly good team. UT might bounce back this year to be good, but right now, at best they are even with us.

Mac can win the games he is supposed to win, albeit in aggravating fashions. But we are Gators. It is our God given right to win every damn game we play and look pretty doing it.

We just see it differently...and sadgator respects your opinion...

First of all, they had the wisdom to go to LDR. They could have pulled him after the pick, but they stuck with him and gave him manageable situations to work with.

If you watch Mac in his press conferences, he always talks about just getting the ball to the playmakers in space. That is exactly what they did. Yes, the players made awesome plays...but that is what is expected.

Late in the game, it wasn't like we were all of the sudden gonna turn into some offensive superpower. We just had to manage the game properly and take what we could get. They did.

sadgstor shares your concerns about game plans and performance going in, but it really does feel like the coaches are trying to put the right puzzle pieces together. And every week (although it ain't pretty), they are doing it.
