Florida @ Utah - 8/31 @ 8pm...

With a full year of discipline and an influx of talent I think we might shock some talking heads.

I’m concerned about this game. I think their roster is better/deeper. And I think they have a decent coaching advantage. Whittingham’s team probably won’t beat itself. Definitely a plus that it looks like we’ll miss Rising, but I think this is a coinflip at best. If we really really compete in this game, I will be very impressed with CBN.

Even if Rising doesn't play I think this team will be tough to beat also. Whittingham keeps talking up their defense but of course says they have to show it in the games. I doubt he says that if they aren't looking pretty good in practice. Not sure our offense is just going to go there in game one and look that effective. It makes their defense a lot easier to run not having a QB back there like Richardson. As far as their offense I am sure it will be even more run heavy without Rising. I hope we have our tackling down especially if their big back gets past the LBs.

Talk about things changing. If our starting center misses the game only 4 of the 22 starters from the 2022 Utah game will be starting this game.

In 2010 this is terrible news. In 2023, heck, might be good news.

It does make me a little nervous that we may have all new players starting on the O line this game. Sometimes with turnover like that it takes a few games for the O line to get things down good.

I am not quite Sad's level from earlier this year on our chances of beating Utah but I don't think its likely to happen even if they are missing that injured QB and TE that had over 100 yards on us last season. I think they still win this game even if they end up starting that walk-on QB. I think their defense will prioritize stopping our run game and I don't think we will burn them enough in the passing game to force them to really respect that. The weakness of that defense is a couple of the DBs but I don't think this team is ready to take real advantage of that. They have a couple of good pass covering DBs so one of them will likely be covering Pearsall most of the time.

Maybe Mertz will make me a believer this game but I just don't see him being able to carry us to a win if they are able to keep our running game in check a little. As far as our defense the D line should be improved but we don't know what we are going to get out of these new DB starters the first game. I think we will need to win the turnover battle to have a chance to beat Utah on the road.

I will go

UF -24
Utah- 20

UFs defense improves, offense can run and Mertz hits that gane manager level

AR won that game by himself last year in the swamp. This year in Utah, subtract both teams’ qbs. Draw your own conclusions.

Considering that you don't think he will, I mean....

Am I to also assume, with all your posts, that you'll do us the favor of watching the game while only hanging out on Utah boards? Because you've obviously made friends going over there and groveling.

I havent posted on any Utah board. I have just read their posts on a couple of their forums.

I actually like Mertz. I think CBN is doing the best he can with the hand he was dealt. But he had to clear a lot of dead wood off the roster and it’s not realistic to think he’s going to be able to turn a roster around that fast. Like I said if we really compete in this game, I will be impressed with CBN.

When you have 7 of your portal transfers starting you can turn around a roster pretty fast.

Our yards per rush in our wins v losses. I would like to see the numbers without AR included in the games to see how big the difference was for RBs only. It looks like in our 7 losses we only ran the ball decent in 2 of them.

I can't seem to find it now but he had a score prediction today or yesterday from him that basically said "I just think there's too many advantages in Utah's favor"

Yes, there is only one person here who could who could look at the possibility of the opposing team being down to possibly their 3rd string QB and maybe having their star TE out and say they have the upper hand. Because it's somehow better for Utah to not have some of their star players.

Wild.

I hope you are right. Wouldn't shock me if we win but I think this was a bad draw for an opening game.

Good luck tonight boys. Hope yall start the year off with a banger. Utah down to 3rd string QB and missing some other pieces. Still a tough team to beat. Time to start 1 and 0

You guys have anyone out tonight?

D coord is very slow getting the call in. The d line isn’t aligned and the offense is ready. Come on coaches. Unacceptable coaching mistake on 4th down.
