Florida @ Utah - 8/31 @ 8pm...

Starting to think now Whittingham has known since camp started that Rising isn't going to play against us. Rising apparently has only really been doing basic passing drills and hasn't played at all in either scrimmage even with a non-contact jersey. Meanwhile all the 1st team practice snaps have supposedly been going to the backups up until this point with just a couple of practices to go. Whittingham also made his backup QBs live in the first scrimmage to see how they would hold up in real game conditions - probably to determine who he was going to start against us. With his game so dependent on his scrambling it seems unlikely he would let him go from just doing passing drills to starting against us.

I'll ask again, just like when you thought Cam Rising would doom us, and then recently that Cam Rising being out would doom us because that means more running game and our secondary is so awful we won't be able to stop the run, is there literally any scenario that makes you optimistic for us?

Because I'm waiting for it. Most people would be excited that the starting QB won't be there, but you have great ideas as to how this will somehow be even worse.

Thoughts on recruiting, btw? Because we all know recruiting ends in August.

But I do t see you parading our class, Eyerore.

BREAKING NEWS: The Entire Utah starting lineup on both sides of the ball have been deemed ineligible for their game against the Florida Gators.

Fever: Wow, well if that's true, Whittingham will have the rest of the team galvanized against us, he's such a great coach. This is bad news. Now I really don't see a way we could win. I hate to say it, but Brown better be ready because Mertz doesn't stand a chance against Utah's second team defense. I thought 6 wins was optimistic but now 5 wins sounds like a dream. Utah is just too much. Oh woe is me, whatever shall we do?

Lol…Fever…

You like to drama queen stuff and twist it don't you. Let us know how you think the game plays out. I never said we couldn't win @ Utah and I picked us last year to upset them. I would say our chances are about in line with that ESPN power predictor estimate which I think was around 30% or so since we either get that former walk-on QB or a limited Rising who hasn't played well in the past when his mobility was limited. Napier said we had issues tackling in the secondary. Yes with a healthy Rising I would say our chances on the road would have been pretty low unlike now. I have been pretty clear I think this is a 6-6/7-5 type team due to limitations at QB and that 8-4 is unlikely and anyone thinking 9-3 or better might need to sober up or get a mental health evaluation.

Let's hear your current view on our likely record? Do you think my 6-6 prediction with a 7-5 ceiling is nuts and we will be an 8-4 or better team? Do you think we have a 50/50 or better chance to beat a Utah team on the road with a limited Rising or that former walk-on QB.

Yeah I’d obviously prefer to miss Rising, but I could see it happening where he’s out and we all start marking this in the win column and then we get plowed by these guys basically running the wildcat at us.

Not saying that’s the most likely outcome, but I could see it.

Jack Miller supposedly not seen at last 2 practices. Seems odd he is missing practice entirely for shoulder fatigue. I wonder if he is leaving since he wasn't named the starter. You would think he would wait a few games just in case something happened with Mertz. If he does leave Brown may get a chance early in the season to show what he has.

Big key is how will our offensive line perform. Strength of Utah D will be their linebackers and d-line. Their secondary will be somewhat suspect but I don't think we are built to take advantage of that. They have 2 linebackers that will most likely be playing on Sundays.

Yep Whittingham told reporters he thinks this may be the best defense he ever had at Utah. Don't know much about their DEs but one that started playing after our game had a nice run with some sacks before he got injured last season. Their fans claim their LBs are much better than they were last season.

Fever has always posted in a more pessimistic/negative style. That has just been his style for years. Utah could not even be fielding a team and Fever would say “well they are really going to try to run the ball even more now and it’s going to be tough for us to stop”. It is what it is. I get a kick out of it at this point.

Their ends not that spectacular. Their Dline is ok but not great. Utah will be solid against the run this year, but teams that can pass will give them trouble.

I hope you are right and they don't have that good of a rush DE. Some people are saying George struggles some with quick DEs.

The betting line movement is pointing to Rising not being cleared to play this game. Not sure if that TE that torched us last year gets cleared or not.

Utah fans seem to think Rising won't be cleared for the game and think the track star QB Johnson is 50/50 to get the start now over the walk-on QB Barnes. "Friends" of players have said this but it's basically what the coach said except for saying Rising won't play.

It’s kinda funny that you still think that Rising might play…

That’s kinda like saying you believe in aliens flying ufo’s or something…

Uh oh…

What is going on with our center? That scares me considering all the bad snaps in the spring game.

Don’t worry about it…we got this.

Take Florida on the money line and the over.

The backup center in the spring game was a 3rd string true freshmen who had only been on campus a few months and……it was the spring game. The backup center is Jake Slaughter who didn’t play in the spring game and IMO may be just as good as Kingsley. Kingsley has the experience for sure but isn’t one of the better olineman on the team.

We're doomed.

Utah depth chart for the game. Whittingham playing games not putting an "or" there? I guess if Rising doesn't start we know the starter will be Barnes.

Unless Rising is a Cyborg from the future with titanium joints, he ain’t playing.

The line went from - 4.5 to -7 after that was released. I think there is a good chance he is playing around also. He said before camp he needed to be fully cleared like 10 days before the game.

I haven't heard Slaughters name in a while, what a throwback. I remember when he was committed to fsu and I thought what a badass name.

7 of our starters are transfer players according to the depth chart. I bet that is up there with the highest number in the SEC.

I’m concerned about this game. I think their roster is better/deeper. And I think they have a decent coaching advantage. Whittingham’s team probably won’t beat itself. Definitely a plus that it looks like we’ll miss Rising, but I think this is a coinflip at best. If we really really compete in this game, I will be very impressed with CBN.
