Napier is conservative in the play calling for sure but I'm convinced Mertz just can not "see" open routes more than 10 yards down field lol. Even when they are there, he checks down. Just 2 cents

After watching closely this season Mertz isn't that accurate with longer throws so it's on both of them I guess. I think he does see things down there but will usually default to the short easy throw if it takes an accurate throw downfield to hit it.
Here are the stats directly from the UF site:
Lagway - 38/55, 4 TD's, L-85, Comp % = 69.09% --- QBR 184.05
Mertz --- 61/79, 5 TD's, L- 39, Comp % = 77.22% --- QBR 163.85
But then the Stats don't mean chit, they are just fan talking points. 😉
I think we ran the same crap against UCF but they are just a bad defense. Haven't watched much of TN but their stats are good on defense. Hopefully we can tackle their RBs.
