Football UCF @ Florida...

The 2024 season in review, so far, and putting things in perspective....

Ranked Opponents:
UF 17 - 41 #6 scUM (+24)
UF 20 - 33 #15 aTm (+13)
UF 37 - 74 Ranked Opp's

UF VS Unranked Opponents:
UF 45 - 7 Samford (-38)
UF 45 - 28 MsSt (-17)
UF 24 - 13 UCF (-11)
UF 114 - 48 Chump Opp's

Un-ranked still on the schedule:
UK in SWAMP ---- UK 12 - 13 UGly -- UK 20 - 17 Miss
Does anyone really believe that they beat Kensucky???

@ FSUcks -- Winnable maybe, but certainly not guaranteed @ Talleycrappy...

Ranked still on the schedule:
#8 Tenniso-sea
#5 UGly
#1 Texass
#13 LSUcks
#9 Ole Piss

Even IF they pull off a minor miracle and beat the 2 un-ranked opponents for 5 wins, does anyone think that they can beat any of those ranked teams to get to 6 wins and make a Bluebonnet type bowl???
=====

Back-in-the-Day History for the young wipper-snappers....

The Bluebonnet Bowl was an annual college football bowl game played in Houston, Texas. A civic group was appointed by the Houston Chamber of Commerce Athletics Committee in 1959 to organize the bowl game. It was held at Rice Stadium from 1959 through 1967, and again in 1985 and 1986. The game was played in the Astrodome from 1968 through 1984, as well in 1987. The game was discontinued following the 1987 season due to poor ticket sales and lack of a title sponsor.

1982 #19 UF 24 - 28 #12 Ar-kansas

If Napier somehow beat TN and KY he probably will get another season if we make a bowl game from what some people say.

The chances of that happening are less than zero, IMO.

They get a lot bigger though if we somehow upset TN. I don't think our curse on them is really applicable on the road anymore however since they won 2 of the last 4 games at home.

In their last game:
W - UF 24 - 13 UCF (-11)
L --- UT 14 - 19 ARK (+5)

NR UF 3-2, 1-1 SEC
#-8 UT 4-1, 1-1 SEC

Nothing more than the opinions of others, but here ya go...

Can Florida stop the run? It's the most important question to consider every week for the Gators moving forward. They were able to last week against UCF, limiting the Knights to 2.7 yards per carry. Can Florida carry that over against a Tennessee offense that ranks 12th nationally in yards per rush? That'll determine if Florida can hang in this game. I think Florida is playing much better than it was in early-season losses and the Vols are starting to show some concerning flaws with their pass game. The Gators keep this close enough to cover. … Tennis-sea 31, Flarduh 20.

Crawford (Florida +15.5)
— Is there reason to worry for Tennessee after last week's stinker at Arkansas? The Vols whiffed on a major opportunity to not only move up in the national rankings following Alabama's loss to Vanderbilt, but have now made the situation quite sticky in the SEC playoff picture. Tennessee is have to, at worst, split upcoming games with the Crimson Tide and Georgia to finish with 10 wins and all but guarantee an at-large berth. Florida's playing better and I'll take more than two touchdowns on the road. ... Tennis-sea 35, Flarduh 20.

Just an Oh BTW.....
Texas at 5-0, 1-0 SEC is the only SEC team that remains undefeated.

Their only SEC win was #1 TX 35 - 13 MsSt -22. --- @ TX - Home Game
(UF45 - 28 MsSt -17) --- @ MsSt - Road Game

Vols can score points in bunches. Will be important to control the time of possession to have any chance. Shorten the game as much as possible. Which is what Arky did Saturday.

Through the many years of watching the coming game, the team that out rushed the other guy usually won the game.

We need to be able to run, to set up the short to intermediate (Mertz) passing.
We need to stuff their runs and make them one dimensional, then our DB's will need to do their jobs.
I'm pretty sure that they will have similar plans for the game.

Using Lagway more would likely help the Gators game, so we'l see....

EXECUTION BY BOTH GATOR LINES WILL LIKELY DETERMINE THE WINNER....

Yes, as is the case with any football game. Control the line of scrimmage you will win.

it's hard to imagine this game not being somewhere in between the 2 losses already.. They aren't going to stop UT running and UF will not be able to run the ball unless they can throw the ball first.. Napier will remind everyone of just how bad he is the next two weeks

Numbers?

One thing I’ll say about Heupel, he’s one of the few guys I’ve seen get outcoached by CBN.

If there's that chance Stricklin gets schitt canned from UF, and if Danny White ultimately replaces him, what are the chances White brings Heupel with him?

I think we either win a close game or get rolled. I think if it's close TN will blow this game. We need that QB to keep foolishly refusing to run even when he has a big opening to run. They might have beat Arkansas if not for him being hard headed on that.
