Creed Whittemore Backs Off UF Commitment

A point that I've already brought up on the board before Creed de-committed ocala, but nobody wanted to address it. Maybe you'll have better luck with responses....

Bringing in his AzSt homeboy Pearsall and anointing him WR #1, to dump on the other roster WR's was BS imo. I will be pissed-off, but not surprised, if Trent hit's the portal, while both he and Creed go elsewhere. 😠

The other and maybe larger danger is having Kitna and/or Brown hit the portal because of Nappy's other home-boy AZ/tOSU QBpp Miller being anointed the #2 QB as soon as he arrived on campus, thus sending QBdt Carlos Del Rio-Wilson to the portal.

The 'State of the Socialist-U' football rests on the Admin/UAA/AD/HC, so put any blame for where they are at, and where they are going, where it belongs...

Passing - 3 of 4 for 41 yds, 75%, L-22, for 2 TD's.
Has already Earned bachelor's in Sport Management (Summer 2022)

2023 #28 Ath/WR/QB Creed Wittemore 5-11.5 175 **** Natl. 432
18 Offers: UF - MsSt-aTm - WF-WVa-PSU-Mich-Mia-Mary-UL-GaT-etc.

Just my opinion, but Creed is a bit small to play college QB at the D1 level.

Both played QB, among other positions, for their HC father at Buchholtz in Gainesville. Both parents are Gator Alums.
To lose them both would be a swift kick in the nutts imo....
😳

We need to do all we can to keep Kitna. I wish he could get more playing time when AR does his usual dumb AR stuff. But as long as AR is ripping off 81 yard TD runs then Nappy is gonna keep him QB.

UF needs to hire a sports psychologist to work with AR…

seriously…he is like a different player seemingly from play to play…when the ball is snapped it is anybody’s guess who is dropping back…if he could just get consistent in his play (on the good side)…

Trent (his brother) will be transferring after the season. That is what led to this
Makes sense. Trent played in 11 games last year and was tied for 7th on the team in receptions with 19 for 210 yards. 5 of the 7 guys who caught more passes than him are gone, with only Shorter and Henderson back. He obviously thought his playing time in 2022 would increase and he would be more a part of the offense than has turned out. This year he's again tied for 7th on the team in receptions, but with only 4 catches in 6 games. Last year's team averaged 20+ receptions per game, this year's only 15. And new guys are getting more attention - Pearsall, Zipperer, Johnson & Zanders. I understand why Trent is planning to look elsewhere and why after conversation with his brother Creed backed off his commitment. Best of luck to both of them. I, also, don't like local players getting discouraged and wanting to go somewhere else, especially legacy players from quality families. However, the new coach has every right to build his team as he sees fit and install the system that he thinks will find the most success with the type of players he chooses. I don't think Napier would intentionally slight a player in favor of another just because he brought him to Gainesville. To me, the guys who are getting the most playing time are those who performed better in the new system. In this new age of the transfer portal and immediate gratification, guys are going to transfer in and out of programs every year, especially when new coaches are involved. On top of that, the 2023 recruiting class has 4 WR commits besides Creed and 3 of them are more highly rated, with Mizell and Wilson ranked #2 and #4 in our class. 246Sports is already showing Creed as committed to Mississippi State as of today. https://247sports.com/college/mississippi-state/Season/2023-Football/Commits/

Probably wants to be a QB.
I've never understood college coaches that won't give a high school QB a shot at QB and THEN move them to WR (or whatever position) AFTER they get on campus and in the system.

Some of those players may like the staff, the off season program, and their teammates enough to stick around and try a new position (see Jordan Reed, Cornelius Ingram, Trey Burton, and others over the years).

I made a post something like 4 or 5 years ago of Florida prep QB's that were recruited for other positions but chose to go to a school elsewhere and play QB and did quite well. Geno Smith, Teddy Bridgewater, Lamar Jackson just to name a few.

It's dumb to not give Whittemore a shot at QB and at least see if he has what it takes. If he doesn't move him to another position. If he hits the portal, oh well. Somebody is hitting the portal regardless.

FWIW Creed does not want to be a QB in college. He knows his future and best chance for success is at WR. He decommited from UF mostly because of his brother Trent who hardly plays and will be transferring. He’s since already committed to Miss St (not to play QB).

Gotcha, I'll take your word for it. I don't follow it that much. Just going by what some are saying about him in regards to playing QB.

If that is the case you can't blame him as long as their isn't a coaching change as you know there will be a lot of passes going around.

If the recruiting class holds together, which I think it will mostly, the depth chart at WR was going to get lengthy. These kids don't care about wins and losses...they mostly care about NIL and playing time. We can offer both.

Well, we fired the "QB whisperer". 🤣
And the current incompetence is what you got to replace it with.
Grats on that....
😏

BTW, the NIL had better get cranked up BIG TIME, because the money and locker room fluff, is about all the Socialist-U attraction consists of now daze.....

Trading 2 quality legacy Whittemore's for a 3 star xfer is a poor deal imo, but that's where the program has now fallen to. My own disinterest is growing daily....

Now I'm really looking forward to when B-Ball season starts....
👍🏼

Edit:
On second thought, shame on the Whittemore's for bailing out on UF and coach Napier. They should learn their place and then stay in it.
Billy's transfers and recruits are all that's gotten the team their 4 wins this season. He makes great hiring and recruiting decisions, so I hope that he's still here 20 years from now....

Dan Mullen was the coach who had the most success working with QB’s at Florida other than Steve…

anybody wanna debate that?
Dan was a terrible coach and he got fired for EJ's loser 6-7 season.
He kept a terrible 3rd and Grantham at DC.
He didn't want to follow the solid science pandemic recommendations in the Swamp.
I'm glad they fired his sorry loser butt, and also that mediocre B-Ball coach.

Billy's got AR-15 playing at the top of his game, and the running game is better than ever.
He also brought in an excellent backup xfer QB and the xfer Top WR.
Better days are just ahead, if fans will just close their eyes and wait for it to happen.

I still have my 1980's "Wait Till Next Year" T-shirt and bumper stickers ready to go.....

He definitely needs to make sure he addresses the D line this coming year in the portal as its unlikely the 2023 recruits will be able to help a lot in their first season. We need a stretch the field WR also - someone the defense has to actually really respect their speed. Not too many WRs are capable as true freshman though a few turn out to be. I am scared the good WRs might not be eager to head here after watching us but maybe we can lure one with some NIL.

Mullen was a great qb coach. He didn’t have to recruit any of his really good ones though.

He didn't recruit Prescott? Mullen was a good QB coach when he had the talent but even he couldn't do much with ones that just didn't have it. Then he had that stubbornness with experience but I guess we can't dog him as much as we thought we could about Jones/Richardson seeing that Richardson is a work in progress unlike Trask in 19.

Will Muschamp was a great defensive coordinator. He was a terrible head coach. Want to debate this one? 😂

#17 QB-dt Carlos Del Rio-Wilson 6-2 225 4.85/40 **** 0.9357
(still a 4 star on xfer to Syracuse, backup to a rsJr)

#13 QB-pp Jack Miller III 6-3 211 5.05/40 **** 0.8951
(dropped to a 3 star on xfer to Florida, 0 Gms, injured out)

That was Napier's 'good idea/great planning' for a 2022 backup to QBdt AR-15.

Along with not wasting any of his valuable coaching time on Fr QB-dt Max Brown....

Dan - AR-15 - #2 Kitna
Jones is the starter at AzSt
Rio-Wilson is #2 at 6-0 Syracuse behind their rsJr.

Billy - Miller III & Brown - neither's seen the field yet.

But I have no idea about what any of that means, as usual...

Napier said Brown had a lot to learn still.

Maybe that says more about the teacher, than it does about the student.... 🤓

Max walked on the football field as a HS Jr and won the starting QBdt job. He learned the offense quick enough and well enough to go 12-0 regular season, then repeated 12-0 his Sr season and be named the Okla 3A MVP. >>> Proof that he's a no talent slow learner, right?

His father was a WR for the Atlanta Falcons, and Max was projected to go to MLB out of HS as a SS/C, before he decided to play football his Jr season.

Brown might think that 4-3, 1-3 SEC Nappy has even more to learn, (I do)....
😉

Multi-millionaire (scared $$$) Nappy will still be at UF next season,,,, but I worry that Brown might not be.

Jones has 4 tds and 3 ints for the 2-4 Sun Devils. His QB rating is 92nd in the nation. Del Rio has played briefly and looked awful. No clue on Brown. I liked the kids stats coming out of high school. His preseason injury probably set him back some, but I have no problem letting him sit and get bigger and stronger for a year. Miller I don't believe is the answer.....but who knows. Kitna looked good against a crappy team, so we shall see. But none of them play defense and that is our biggest issue. We score 35 and 33 and still lose? Yikes...
