Alright, guys and gals, let's take a break from the sniping, itt we talk about the things that have made our lives easier / better.

The post from @jsfgators about healthy lifestyles inspired this thread and I agree that eating healthy unprocessed foods and working out every day has improved my life, as have frequent and regular "appointments" with @gator1776 wife.

What other tips do you have?

There is no substitute for walking. The first textbook of medicine, at least the one that survived to current times, on the very first page stated clearly that patients that stay in bed die.

Everybody should walk as much as they can every day it’s incredibly helpful for your overall health.

That and regular freaky monkey s*x therapy with @FresnoGator and @greyghost14

I think walking is great, but a bare minimum. People who are healthy enough need to engage in load bearing strenuous exercise. Routines that involve squats, deadlifts, kettlebell swings etc are best. To me, jumping rope and various “jumping movement” exercises have the best results for the cardiovascular health. No processed sugar, no processed grains. Sugar and flour are the enemy.

Load bearing exercises may or may not be right for everybody. Prior to about 100 to 150 years ago everybody walked 3-4 miles a day. Everybody were to still be doing that walking upstairs that sort of thing we would be a healthier society.

That said, we actually live longer now than we did 100 250 years ago because of all the amazing things medicine has to offer 😝😝😝😝

Seriously though the biggest plague of the 20th and 21st century is sedentary lifestyle made possible by technology.

I said if you were healthy enough, do load bearing exercise. Would you agree that for people of an advanced age a fall is a leading factor in death. These falls are from loss of balance and inability to stop after tripping. This is from a loss of muscle mass. If you keep your muscle mass up while you’re able to, you won’t be as frail in old age. Load bearing routines also keep your skeletal system more resilient as well as connective tissue. Also keeps your metabolism right

At nearly 56 years of age, I gave up the thoughts of playing basketball, flag football and entering the River Run in Jax almost a decade ago. Walking and working out at the gym is what I've been reduced to. After 2-3 miles of hard running, my knee gives out.
It didn't help I had ACL reconstruction almost 30 years ago when I blew my knee out during a non contact game, flag football. I blew the same knee out again, this time playing basketball against my two sons.

I understand...but as good-looking as I am, I would rather have fun while I am here instead of being an incredibly good-looking corpse! I HAVE FUN! Life is short, and sometimes shorter than we expect. And I have cut back EXPONENTIALLY on the amount I drink from my younger days.
The right exercise routine is very fun . A fit body is capable of doing more fun stuff. I’m a fitness and nutrition militant, so please excuse my being a little pushy, it’s out of love for my fellow humans

I swim every single day for 20-25 minutes. Water temp. 72-80. Cool water helps the workout and I spend the workout doing most of my critical thinking as the cool water clears the mind and releases endorphins. Been doing this for years ...

And I have long been critical of your thinking 😛

😂 Roll it out to me more slowly. I didn't capice? I actually got stalked by several demon childs back in the day. What's weird, I had one text me a couple of months ago. From 20 years ago! I checked out the area code and she'd moved to the Atlanta region. Poor thing used to show up at the back door at work and bring cookies as a sacrifice. I gave them to the techs. They were smitten, but I gave them a stern warning..........BEWARE! 😂

Sometimes I wonder how much $$$ I'd have in the bank if I didn't have a snake and two cannon balls. I cringe when I think how much I spent in my 20's and 30's at bars chasing that dragon. I got even though with social media sites in my 40's though. I never had to play on a neutral field or on the road again. 😂

I take 30 minute walks every day. At my age (mid 70’s) it helps me sleep, stay fit, and I count on it.
About ten days ago I was walking, didn’t see a rock on the cart path and tripped. Bad fall that cracked a rib, scraped my knees and hands and gave me a big black eye. That’s almost gone thankfully.
I’ve never fallen and this one isn’t due to frailty since I never have dizziness or disorientation.
As soon as this rib feels better I’ll be back at it. My diet is really pretty decent and I’ve never smoked. Not a boozer either.
I will definitely keep a sharper eye out for obstacles on the cart path. 🤓
Staying active and taking care of your body is so important
