I take it too seriously? I cant turn the TV on without seeing rainbows in every ad, every sports event and show. Its in every store. The military adheres to it. Its everywhere. I think a lot of people take it seriously, on both sides
Or that's what youre paying attention to.

Its like when you're single, all you see are couples, but when youre in a relationship, all you see is hookers.

So what? Honestly, how does that hurt you?

I find it amusing that when Christians complain about 'Pride Month' they are told just move on. Yet here you are obsessed with how other people are holding religious beliefs that you disagree with.

Just move on.

If all they did was complain, we wouldn’t be having this discussion.

yes and thats unlikely to stop until the christian right acknowledges that these people exist and are real. i dont love fighting bananas with bananas, but it is what it is. you are the root of the problem, try being part of the solution.
If I didnt acknowledge that these people exist, we wouldnt be having this conversation. I just think its WRONG. I oppose mainstreaming their deviant behavior.

There are thousands of Christian denominations with conflicting interpretations of the Bible, not to mention the rest of humanity that follows completely different religions.

Isn’t it remarkable that out of the thousands of possible religions and denominations, the one you adhere to is the “correct” one?
Which one do YOU adhere to, Rere?

I find it telling that every single one of your religious posts are detailing how someone ELSE is wrong in their beliefs.

What are yours? Or are you simply trying to find a way to discount everyone else's beliefs, because you don't have the courage to find your own?

Believing in something bigger than yourself requires humbling yourself. Curious that you call others here narcissists for doing something that it seems your ego prevents you from doing.

He didn't say he was right, he said the Holy Spirit is remarkable.

Anyone that has the Holy Spirit in them would tend to agree with that statement. I suspect those that do not would question, I suspect those that are insecure about their own beliefs would mock.

Believing something bigger than yourself doesn’t make you arrogant. You are twisting my words to make it appear as though I am saying that believing in God makes you a narcissist.

I clarified my beliefs, if you can call them that, in this post:

The implication was that he is right because the Holy Spirit is working through him. This is essentially the same logical tautology as in my diagram.

Think of this....Jesus Christ lived over 2000 years ago, and lived his entire life inside a fairly small slice of the Earth. His public ministry was what, maybe 3 and half years. No social media and so forth. 2000 years later, millions of people across the world, on every continent follow His teachings. What are the odds?

No, I'm saying that you are getting defensive about the fact that others are more sure about their beliefs than you are.

Read the post you linked to where you explain your beliefs. You are basically saying "Well I'm not sure, this is my best guess".

And there is NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. Re-read that and understand before we go further.

So you are unsure of your beliefs, so when you encounter someone who IS sure, you get defensive. You don't like how sure they are about their beliefs, because that makes you feel like you could be wrong about yours.

Maybe you need to accept that you are still in the process of forming your beliefs, and that there's nothing wrong with that.

And if I tell you I know what I believe is right, there's nothing wrong with that either. When you encounter someone who is sure in their beliefs, I would advise you to say "Happy you have it sorted out, personally, I am still working on it', and move on.

Getting upset cause someone is more sure in their beliefs is a complete waste of time.

Again, so what?

Why attack him over his beliefs simply because he is sure of his beliefs and you aren't?

Is anyone attacking you over your uncertainty?

I ride a scooter because my joints hurt and Im lazy. I got into a bar fight thursday.
Also, I'm out of shape for a United States Marine. Not a civilian.
 Not Monkey's Uncle was it? 😂 I'm conjuring up the image of you wearing your ten gallon hat and cowboy boots. 😂

Pretty good, spreading the gospel is an obligation. One wonders what's taking y'all so long.

What it means in the Baptist Church?
How about the Episcopal? Lutheran?
LDS? Or Jehovah’s Witnesses??

My kids were told by Baptist kids at Young Life they couldn’t be Christians because Catholics weren’t Christians.
🙄🤯

I've spent my entire life in the Baptist church and I've never heard that nonsense.

What I’m getting at are the people who think they are right because they think God told them so, and if you disagree with them, you are really disagreeing with God (often hyperbolically elevated into “if you disagree with me, you hate God”).

Men are fallible. Go to God with it...problem solved. You might even discover that you are wrong...or maybe you and the man are wrong and God's will is somewhere in between.

I think maybe you prefer to make excuses for why faith cannot be the answer. That's free will and you are exercising it. So am I.

You're in Alabama, me and Goldie are in Florida. Same convention, different Baptists.

I've been a Southern Baptist my entire life. I lived in Florida for 14 years.

The only Baptist church I've ever been in that had the type of message that she mentioned was in upstate New York.

And @Uniformed_ReRe I'll let you in on a secret: Occasionally when I am right, it turns out later I was actually wrong.

It happens. But someone else saying THEY are right has zip to do with my beliefs.

Can't be wishful thinking, I've been hearing Catholics aren't Christians my whole life.

Anyone who says something like that is an idiot and they aren't worth the attention. None of us gets to determine such a thing. We aren't equipped to know such things.

Now if a person tells me that they aren't a Christian, I believe them. But even then only God knows what's in their heart.

I've heard sermons that warned me about the "churches of the work" where one can and must earn their salvation. But no, that wasn't a reference to Catholicism...rather Jehovah's Witness and Mormonism.

I've heard several fantastic sermons over my life where the message was that the Catholics, Lutherans, Episcopalians, ect were our brothers in Christ and that the infighting between Christ based religions was the devils playground.

Sounds about right. Generally most people who aren't Christian assume everybody but cultists that believe in Jesus are Christians.

Not in Texas you haven’t.

I haven't lived in Texas. However, I am a Southern Baptist and the Southern Baptist Convention doesn't espouse such nonsense.

Are there Southern Baptist's who do believe that? I'm sure there are...just like there are Catholics who don't think Southern Baptist's are Christians.

We pay too much attention to the lunatics imho. Their opinions infuriate us and I guess that makes them more interesting.

My oldest sister married a Catholic and she converted to Catholicism for her family and I couldn't be more proud. She was named Mother Seton in her Parrish and I was there to see her honored. They didn't even make me sit in the heathen section. 😉

That’s even worse now I need two megaphones, see what I mean. Simmer down and try being nice

They didn't START with rounding them up. I am a practicing Catholic. The Justice Dept. has admitted to placing informants into the Catholic church. The DOJ has done their work to label us extremists or tie us to a "Christian Nationalism" or whatever. It seems to me that they are lining up the domino's. I would love to have egg on my face on this....but I think they are coming for the Christian. When they trigger their mouse trap, it will be done under the guise of protecting the gays. The gays will celebrate it.
I’m Catholic as well, but dang - your rant on persons who are born with a different orientation than you is just uncomfortable for me.

The Bible is crystal clear. I am uncomfortable with forgiving people who have harmed children, but that the expectation. They arent born that way BTW
