Biden Solves High Gas Prices

Joe's still got work to do to solve high gas prices.... looks like one component of his strategy has failed utterly....

Here’s an update I found on Google:

LyondellBasell has been trying to exit the refining business for some time now. I believe they are based in Europe and with this being their last operating refinery, this is a virtue-signaling carbon reduction strategy.

From what little I know about this facility, it never has been highly profitable. It’s an old facility, and I would imagine management has more or less deliberately under-invested in it to maintain current cash flow, and conserve capital.

The article states that they are still shopping for a buyer. It’s in their interest to find a buyer to assume the environmental liabilities, even if it means taking an accounting charge against earnings to do so. Fingers crossed that this facility can somehow stay open.

No idea. I don’t really follow the refineries. UKAlum is the expert on this subject. See his post above.

But I’m honored you value my opinion.
Here's some more info on the L-B refinery:

Looks like they've made a decision not to spend hundred of millions of dollars in the post-2023 to make needed repairs / upgrades to their 90,000 bpd Fluid Catalytic Cracker unit. That's a pretty good size unit as cat crackers go.

In these kind of situations, the owner generally retains a consultant company to help market the refinery to potential buyers. After the non-disclosure agreements are signed and the buyers are financially vetted, mechanical integrity and operating information on the refinery units is made available for the buyers to review.

The condition of the units will be a key factor in whether someone is willing to take the risk of buying the assets, with selling price reflecting the degree of risk. The prospective owner will of course also be purchasing the working capital (crude oil in storage, intermediates and finished product in inventory, etc.) This working capital component can be almost half (or even greater) of the total purchase price.

As the article states, they are apparently also looking at options to re-purpose the facility to make renewable fuels.

This thread is a monumental landmark of the utmost stupidity courtesy of one man......the ultimate basement dwelling, day-dreamer of private yachts, expensive cars, mansions, and global market investments that only exist on his PC screen......give it up for the one and only @BSC911 <applause>

I just want to keep this running like he is doing with the other thread that he somehow thinks he will have some credibility if it runs a certain amount of time, making me feel confident that either he is 13
yrs old...or has the same level of maturity

One thing I have made sure of in my life....is to NEVER listen to a lib about ANYTHING you want a truthful answer about. I am quite sure many others here feel EXACTLY the same way. I mean...Russia Russia Russia? "the putin price hike? Republicans are responsible for inflation? Maga people are the most dangerous people in the Country? I will get EVERYONE that wants out of Afghanistan out? Actually...I just realized that if I could just list the TRUTHFUL things he has said..this post would be MUCH, Much shorter! I will start listing things...ANYTHING that he has told the truth about RIGHT after this sentence!

Ok Exxon Valdez, I’ll play along.
If drilling is up (based on your little chart) then why haven’t gas prices reflected that and come down ?

The only time gas prices have dropped at all since Biden took office (and only a few cents at that) is when he released oil from the strategic reserves, and as soon as that oil was consumed the pump prices jumped right back to what they were prior to the release.

Now I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but I can still cut room temperature butter pretty straight.
