Auburn @ UF

Texas A&M had like 175 yards passing during the first three quarters and then had 175 yards passing during the fourth quarter alone. Auburn was ahead 21-3 going into the 4th quarter.

Texas A&M did something similar against Clemson a couple weeks earlier. Only had like 120 yards total offense after 3 quarters and then had like 180 yards offense during the 4th quarter alone after Clemson had already built a 24-3 lead

If somehow we both win next week, I assume CBS will get the first pick and have us as the 2:30/3:30 game

So this happened.

If we win this game, we better not get a night game at LSU. The LSU TV rule that the get to choose one game a year to override CBS and take as a night game is bullcrap. There needs to be a second rule that anyone affected by that gets the same right the next time they host LSU, so if LSU gets a night game this year, we can force the return game be at night next year. At least it would level the playing field.

It is going to be interesting to see how Trask handles the pressure Auburn will put on him. He has been given tons of time to find receivers so far. That won't happen against Auburn

Auburn defense line is straight savages. They will put Trask under a lot more pressure than he has gotten so far. Auburn will also blitz if the line can't pressure him. I just don't see him getting the same amount of time he has gotten so far

Auburn will also shut down the run. Texas A&M only had 56 yards rushing for the entire game and 25 yards came on a play where they faced 3rd and 30.

Oregon had like 90 yards rushing but 35 yards came on one play early in the game
No worries on run being shut down as it never started up this season.

I don't think Florida fans realize how tough it is going to be for them to run the ball and how much pressure will fall on their qb because of their lack of running game.

Oregon labeled themselves as the best offensive line in the entire country after returning all 5 starters. Several preseason experts also put them in the top 2 or 3 offensive lines. They even returned a back who had over a thousand yards rushing last year. They still had zero success running the ball against Auburn outside of 1 or 2 plays.

I personally don't think there is a single team in the entire country who can run the ball against Auburn without resorting to gimmicks like reverses and having the quarterback run on draws and things like that.

Auburn has been tested more than Florida so far and overall has looked like the better team to me. But that doesn't mean they are, nor that they will win. Auburn's defensive front is excellent and our O-line has to play extremely well (including limiting penalties) for us to win. Who knows what will happen, especially with their true freshman QB and our very inexperienced one? Should be fun to watch and may the Gators win!!

Your secondary may be a problem. Given up some big chunks of yards to Oregon and AM.

You don't need a lot of things when you play the trash schedule Florida has played so far. Every team you have played up until now will finish the season with 5, 6, or 7 losses. The junior high school football team where I live would be undefeated if they played Florida's schedule

Oregon qb was projected as a first round draft pick last year. He came back to compete for championships.

A&M qb stats are misleading. he did nothing for 3 quarters while Auburn built 3 touchdown lead. His success came largely against prevent defense in 4th quarter

So you guys win in a blowout then, right?
Sorry if facts bother you. Auburn was beating Texas A&M 21-3 at the end of the third quarter. Look up the box score.

Oregon qb is named Justin Herbert. Google his name and you will find plenty of information about him being a first round draft pick

Again, don't be a little girl, do you think Auburn wins in a blowout? What is your score prediction?

I would pick Auburn to win. I could see the score going either way as far as it being close or not. The A&M game was a blowout for the most part, but the final score doesn't reflect it because Auburn went to prevent defenses in 4th quarter. Same thing could happen

I don't think aubarn would have been undefeated, so I guess that junior high school is better than you...

You gon' be mad after we whup you...

Florida fans are full of themselves for beating Tennessee. A team who was basically dominated by Georgia State at home. I watched the game and Georgia State really and truly did dominate Tennessee

Auburn scored more points against Texas A&M than Clemson did. Look the scores of both games up for yourself

We also don't really know how good Florida's defense is considering every team you have played so far is straight trash.

I read some comments from Miami's offensive coordinator after you played them and he flat out said their offense should have scored many more points against Florida

Miami's offensive coordinator did not seem impressed with Floridas defense. At least not from the comments I read

Because he's an idiot.

Team comes in and sacks your QB 10 times, I think you should give them some credit.

Should we be impressed you beat four loss Fisher? Or that you squeaked one out against a PAC 10 team? Wake me when you do something worth a shit.

Florida's offensive line has been stellar in pass protection and should be able to handle Auburn's defensive front for most of the game. In Week0 at a neutral site in Orlando, Florida has seen Miami's defense which has a pass rush similar to Auburn's statistically and the Hurricanes also have a much better secondary than Auburn's. Despite the numerous mistakes, Florida was still able to overcome Miami (24-20) and should also do the same against Auburn especially if the mistakes are limited.

Miami is 24th in scoring defense (16.0 ppg) while Auburn is 23rd (gives up 15.8 ppg). For the year, Miami has 12 sacks (3 ints) and Auburn has 11 sacks (1 int). http://www.espn.com/college-footbal...otal/position/defense/sort/totalPointsPerGame

On the other hand, Florida's defense has been spectacular but could be even better once players like CJ Henderson & Zuniga return from nagging injuries. The Gators lead the country in sacks (20) and number two in interceptions (7). Florida's scoring defense is 10th (11 ppg) which is not too far off from the 3rd ranked scoring defense (9 ppg by Ohio St).

Auburn's defense has only one interception in four games. If that doesn't change, Florida's passing attack will have a field day against the Tiger's pass defense.

In their first four games, the Gators have been averaging nearly 300 yards a game and about 136 on the ground. Those stats are reminiscent of Spurrier's 1990's Fun-n-gun teams. To really open up the offense, Mullen just has to let Florida throw it even more (than they run). For UF, the Run-Pass ratio has been mostly 50:50 (130 rushes: 127 pass attempts/92 completions --> 72.4% Completion rate). Mullen has been trying to establish the inside-running game between the tackles/guards with some success here and there. The outside runs for Florida have been more big playish: i.e, Hammond's 76-yard run vs Kentucky & Toney's 66-yard bubble screen catch & run vs Miami.

Auburn is mostly a running team (259 Y/G) led by Whitlow (408 Y, 4 TD). Florida's defense can limit Auburn's offense especially if the Gators get off to a quick start and build up their lead like they often did in the 1990s under SOS. Florida's rush defense is 23rd (92.3 Y/G) while Auburn's is 20th (89.5 Y/G). So that stat is a push for both teams. (Note: Miami's rush defense is 6th (59.8 Y/G) and the Gators could only rush for about 50 yards in that game). If Florida can get at least 90 rushing yards on Auburn's defense than that should help Florida's offense overall.

Auburn's Bo Nix only averages about 160 yards/G and completes only 54% of his passes. Nix averages 6.2 yards/completion while Florida's Trask averages 10.0 yards/completion for bigger plays in the passing game. Auburn's short-passing game was probably designed to pick up either the first downs or else put their rushing offense in better position to pick up the first downs and continue a drive. However, If Auburn should get down (on the score board) for most of the game and has to begin throwing the football to get back then that will only play into Florida's hand. When Auburn got down (6-21) to Oregon, the Tigers were lucky in being able to successfully rally for the 27-21 win.

But, I doubt that Nix can play mistake-free football going up against Florida's 'ferocious' pass rush and 'ball-hawking' secondary: five different people have an interception for the Gators --> SS Davis (2), CB Wilson (1), CB Dean (1), CB Elam (2), and LB/S Burney (1). Florida's best defensive back, CJ Henderson, has not played much this season since the Miami game but should be good to go when Auburn comes into town. As for Florida's pass rush, led by Greenard (3.5 sacks) and Zuniga (3 sacks), 10-15 Gators have been credited with a sack. That's a lot of team-tackling by Florida!

For Auburn to have a chance, they will need to be somewhat balanced on offense and the game will have to be a back and forth type of affair where the game is decided in the 4th quarter. Btw, Florida is favored by 7 points over Auburn by some people in Las Vegas.

Although inexperienced, Florida's Kyle Trask has a quick release on his passes and spreads the ball all over the field to numerous WR/TE/RB targets (Jefferson, Grimes, Pitts, Hammond, Swain, Cleveland, Perine, Copeland/Toney). There are still a few others (i.e, Krull, Pierce, etc.) who have not caught a pass yet. Any one or more of those top receivers at any time can be the featured receiver in a game. In his two SEC games, Trask completed more than 70% of his passes. In the ROAD comeback win over Kentucky when Florida was down 10-21 in the 4th quarter, Kyle Trask came off the bench for the injured Franks and rallied the Gators to a 29-21 win. In his first start in college football against Tennessee, Trask threw for 290 yards, 2 TDs and 2 ints. Trask and the Gators will have one more tune-up game to clean up their mistakes and refine their offense, defense and special teams before facing Auburn.

This should be another good match-up between Florida & Auburn.
But, don't think that this will be a picnic for Auburn in
the Swamp where Florida usually wins!

UF has a different QB than the one that started the UM game.Miami remarks are from a sore loser.UF dominated UT on both sides of the line. The game will be the biggest test to date for both teams so far What either one has done before won't count for much once the game starts.IMO.

I have to think our playbook hasn’t been full opened either. We’ve seen like two jet sweeps and one went to the house against Kentucky. Also I’m just not a big believer in Perine anymore. He was a good second punch back last year behind Scarlett and a better offensive line but I think pierce is a better physical back and has better vision. Perines vision is terrible this year

Things to consider...

~ Scarlett got most of the starts, but Perine got the most yards,,, for the 2nd year in a row.

~ Perine softens up the D first, then Pierce gets the 2nd swing. A good 1-2 punch imo,

~ Both have shown good blocking technique in picking up the blitz, but Perine is the best receiver. >>> And Davis is the 2nd best receiver.

~ I do think that Dan could better utilize the RB committee (plays & personnel), but we'll see how that develops over the course of the rest of the season. Where it really matters is vs the big 3 that are coming up.... o_O

The pussy Lac-12 team gave the barn all they could handle and the barners came away with a little +6 win.
AU 27 - 21 Ore.

Now for some fun with the phootball transitive property... :D

AU 27 - 21 Ore
UCF 48 - 27 Stanford 1-2 (-21)
Ore 21 - 6 Stanford 1-3 (-15)
UCF 34 - 35 Pitt 1-2 (now 2-2)
So Oregon doesn't look all that good to me.

Toss up UF games for 2019 -- AU - LSU - UGly
All 3 are currently higher ranked than UF, but not by much,,, All 4 are Top 10's. o_O
(the SEC ain't a one pony show, like the Big12-10-whatever or the ACC)
