As fatman and others have pointed out...to ME the big news this election cycle is how many voters swithed from dims to pubs in each state. ALL the swing states had enormus changes to our side. And this just makes me feel more comfortable that this will not be near as close as some are predicting. I stand by 1980'ish results.
Personally, I am quite concerned that the polls are generally right.
I am also seeing Trump lashing out on personal items again and again and the media capitalizes on it, every time it emerges.
Could the polls be BS? Sure.
Does Nancy Mace going on CNN and fumbling and being defensive around the pronunciation of Kamala's name help? No.
Does Trump saying that Military Awards are less impactful than Civilian awards help? I doubt it.
Is Trump playing some 4 dimensional chess that donors like Steve Winn, people like Kelly Anne, Meghan Kelly and others are not seeing? Of course.
Do I think that is likely? No.
Pelosi pulled the most elegant "velvet coup" of our lifetimes. If I did not have deep disdain for many of her party's policies, I would appreciate it more.
Then the media has gone protection mode with only a handful of white journalists (and part Jewish ones - like Tapper) started to ask tough questions? Yes.

Well we are far apart here...lets see who is correct!! LOL And let me ask you to show me EVER when the polls were accurate. I have been around for every election since 1980. That one was WAY off. 2016 was WAY off. 2020 was WAY off. Then someone needs to explain since 2020 was decided by 40000 votes across the whole Country...how the pubs are behind when they have added 10, 20, 30k voters in each swing state MORE than democrats. I stand my ground my friend!!
I don't think the polls matter a whole lot at this point. Harris is going to have to go through the debate(s?) and answer the tougher questions before its done. How she handles those things will decide the election. Everybody already knows Trump.
I think that is right. In 30 days, this went from a "done deal" for Trump to Kamala with significant momentum.
How much and how sustained that will be is all about the debates and advertising in the 31 days of September + the VP debate.
I may be missing your point...but I think CONTENT means everything now. She will have to defend all her policy changes, so far..of course the media is in the tank for her and we really do not know WHAT she stands for. All rumor at this point. MOST importantly...she WILL have to answer for the HORRIBLE job she and FJB did while in office. This sudden rush to make a hostage deal and stave off the attack by Iran makes most people wonder...why were they not doing this the past 3 years. I think stupid people may vote for her...but non stupid people do not like going to the grocery store and paying UNGODLY prices that THEY caused, and the world near war. And I think by now EVERYONE knows who's fault it is the border is WIDE OPEN. So NO...the debate matters...but not NEAR as much as her failing record.
My point is that in the next 30-45 days, most of what will be revealed about Kamala will be revealed. Further early voting will start.
So, if Trump is to turn the tables OR if Kamala is (finally) through debates or other hard questioning forced to defend her record and Trump can get her in loosely connected word-salads, then the polls will turn back.
To your point though, debates matter - a lot - in finally GETTING the media to (at least somewhat) accurately report on the record of the administration.
What will she and her team do? Goad Trump to talk about race, intelligence and abortion. Hopefully, he does not fall for it.
I think some of this will be more simplistic than that. The debate with Trump will be the most pressure Harris has ever been under. I think a lot will be made of just how she handles that (her demeaner and her poise as much as the words she chooses). How does she handle the direct criticism, the back and forth and the white hot spot light with no teleprompter. Trump has been through this many times. Harris is an unknown quantity when it comes to this kind of pressure and with stakes this high. The pressure on her will be more than a normal debate because of the short ramp up, lack of primaries and the simple fact that most people don't know her very well.
Its the kind of test somebody who wants to be president should have to pass.
It will be interesting to watch unfold.
I think it's pretty easy to project how she'll actually do and how the MSM will paint her performance.
