Yeah but guys like Mcnealie, Philpot and Slater have all pitched better in SEC weekend series than they have midweek.
Also, 3 hits? FSU’s bullpen got absolutely wrecked by Clemson over the weekend.
Agree that we strike out way too much and some games our bats just disappear. The bottom third of our batting order is extremely weak. But on the pitching, not quite accurate. Except for last Saturday against LSU, the freshmen relievers have, for the most part, not been good midweek or weekends. Slater has been a little more inconsistent than the last 2 years, but has had really good outings both midweek and weekends.
McNeillie - ERA 10.29. Good weekend outing vs. Columbia, horrible midweek outing vs. Stetson, followed by bad weekend outing vs. Miami. Really bad midweek vs. UCF, then bad weekend outing vs. St. Marys. 1 inning vs. Texas A&M was good. Decent midweek outing vs. Jacksonville, 2.1 innings, 0 hits, 1 walk, 1 hbp, followed by an OK weekend outing vs LSU, 2.1 inning, 2 hits and 3 walks, but no runs.
Philpott - ERA 5.91 - OK weekend outing vs. St. Johns, 1.1 innings, no hits, 2 walks. Very good midweek outing vs. UNF, 3 innings, 2 hits, 2 walks, 0 runs. Good weekend outing vs. Columbia, 3 innings 2 hits, 1 walk no runs. Very good midweek outing vs. Bethune-Cookman. Bad midweek outing vs. UCF. Bad weekend vs. St. Marys in 2 appearances. Got nobody out, faced 1 batter and gave up a hit, then in his 2nd appearance he pitched 1.1 innings and have up a HR. Was bad in midweek game vs. FSU, then had a bad weekend outing against Texas A&M - Got nobody out, walking the only 2 batters he faced. Bad midweek game vs. Jacksonville, did not pitch vs. LSU and then had a bad midweek outing vs. FSU last night.
Slater - ERA 3.51. He's been in 14 games, 7 midweek and 7 weekends. He's only had 3 bad outings, really. 2 against FSU and 1 against Miami.
Jameson - ERA 4.19 - He's been in 12 games, 6 midweek and 6 weekend. His worst outings have been in weekend games against St. Johns & Columbia and 2 midweek games against FSU. Other games he's been OK to pretty good.
Purnell - ERA 6.75 - He has 11 appearance, but has only pitched 8 innings total, 4 in weekend games, 7 midweek games. He's had 2 good weekend appearances and 2 bad ones. In midweek appearances, he's had 5 decent outings and 2 really bad ones.
Satin - ERA 1.08 - He's been in 8 games, but only thrown 8.1 innings. His problem is walks, as he's given up 10, but only 1 earned run. He's pitched in 3 weekend games and 1 midweek game and his only run was against UCF, but he's been OK whenever he's been put in.
The one reliever who definitely has been more effective on the weekends than midweek is
Grayson Smith. ERA 7.30. He's been in 5 weekend games and 5 midweek games. He's not had a bad weekend outing yet, although he's only thrown 12.1 innings total, but his only bad outings have come against UCF, Jacksonville and FSU twice.
Overall, our more experienced relievers (Slater, Jameson, Purnell) have been OK, but have had good and bad outings both midweek and weekends. The freshmen, as a group, have struggled whenever they've been used except for last Saturdy against LSU, where they were very good.
