2023 Baseball & Softball Thread

Might be our most complete game of the year, Great pitching, sound defense, we had some really good at bats. Need to get the W today. Would be nice to get the series locked down.
Need a good start from Waldrep. He was cruising until two weeks ago.

Much like softball, baseball beginning to suck
Like I said earlier you were way too hard on the baseball team. You don’t win them all, especially in baseball and the baseball team has had a very good season. We may not win it all but the team has done very well so far.

Well, the 2017 champion team was 21-9 in the SEC. Right now we are 17-9 in an arguably better SEC-East with a possibility of matching it.

The series against Texas A&M is disappointing, but consider that the 2017 team got swept by a very bad Auburn team and got run-ruled by at least 15 runs by Arky at the end of the SEC tournament.

Im not saying a championship is the bag, but even great teams suffer at times.

I wonder if we’ve got Waldrep for some innings today. Impressive effort by the bullpen yesterday after his start got cut short.

With baseball you’re going to have to win some coin flips. The 2017 team was as close to a sure thing as I’ve seen. The 2011 team would have beat anyone but South Carolina and the 2015 team would have beat anyone but UVA. Those teams both had shut down pitching and spectacular defense, which this team does not. But this lineup is the best we’ve ever had I think.

This year I think we are the most talented team in the country, maybe by some margin. But we do have a tendency to melt down from time to time.

Best thing is that Langford is getting hot. He’s been really good but not blowing up in fools’ faces but now he’s starting to.

Other than not hitting as many home runs with accompanying RBI, his other numbers across the board have been better than last year. On Base percentage, batting average, slugging percentage, walks, doubles, few K's. He's a phenomenal player.

Great weekend for baseball. We have a chance to win a very difficult SEC east. Need at least 1 this weekend at Kentucky to lock down national seed. 19 wins in this conference would be very impressive.

Today's rankings have UF Baseball #2 in the USA Today Coach's Poll, #4 in the D1 Poll and #6 in RPI. Did somebody recently say Gator baseball sucked???!!!!
Yes we have a good chance to get a national seed. I’d say that is a pretty darn good season if that happens.

Wasnt usc dealing with a serious injury bug at that time though?

No doubt uk is a dangerous team, but its kinda hard to tell how good they are overall.
KY is 35-15, 15-12 in the SEC, ranked 19th in the latest D1 poll. However, they are #1 in the RPI rankings with the #1 SOS. 24-4 at home. This will be a tough test.

The wheels started to come off a little bit in the third: error, two hit by pitch, infield single where Waldrep didn’t cover first, all with 2 outs. But they pulled it together and only gave up one run. They played generally solid defense and made a couple spectacular plays. Pitching was pretty untouchable. And I thought the lineup was still grinding counts up 10-3. All of it good to see. And if they keep doing that they are going to be very difficult to beat, because I think they are by far the most talented team in the country and maybe the most talented team sully has ever had.

You think the SEC is tough in football?? What about SEC baseball? Geez. It’s so tough the defending national champs (Ole Miss) is in last place in the SEC.

Hard to watch Gator baseball. I mean, I have the SEC network and they NEVER broadcast Gator games. WTF? There will be a big conference game, and those cucks will be covering lacrosse somewhere in BFE. I can't think of one time when they were covering the Gator games this season. :(

ESPN+ is pretty much mandatory if you’re going to watch college baseball.

Gator baseball games have been on SEC+, not ESPN+, when not on the regular SEC Network. SEC+ is available at no additional cost, for people who have the SEC Network as part of their programming package.

I've watched just about every Gator baseball game on TV this year. When they're not on the SEC Network or one of the ESPN channels they're on SEC+, which you get at no extra cost if you get the regular SEC Network.

I get the two SEC network channels but none of those channels. I also get ESPN1 and ESPN2 and that is it. The 2 SEC network channels I get are free on my cable package but there is no way to get them without streaming.

Well they are on ESPN + because that’s how I watch just about every game.

Anyway, great series win for the Gators. No doubt national seed. Really good stuff. Great start by cags. If he’s not the player of the year, I’d love to hear the argument for the other guy.

Agree that you have to stream to get SEC+. But all you have to do is use the WatchESPN app and go to it. Tablet, PC, Smartphone, SmartTV. We have ROKU boxes for Netflix & Amazon Prime and the ESPN app is right there.
