Baseball Florida Gators ranked in the Top 10 in D1 Baseball's Preseason Rankings

Florida Gators ranked in the Top 10 in D1 Baseball's Preseason Rankings

The Florida Gators baseball program is one month from Opening Day versus the Air Force Academy. The Gators are coming off a rollercoaster 2024 season in which they were almost left out of the NCAA Baseball Tournament. However, Florida played their best baseball towards the end and made it all the way to the semifinals of the College World Series.

Heading into the 2025 season, the Florida Gators are expected to be very competitive and could even make another trip to Omaha for the College World Series. D1 Baseball released their Preseason Top 25 rankings and Florida was ranked tenth in the country.

While the Gators were ranked tenth in the preseason rankings, five other SEC programs were ahead of them. Texas A&M, LSU, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Georgia were the other five SEC in the Top 25. Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, and Texas are the three other SEC teams ranked in the preseason rankings.

The Gators will play seven Preseason Top 25 teams, with six of them being SEC teams. The only non-conference Top 25 opponent Florida plays against this season will be the ninth-ranked Florida State Seminoles in a three-game midweek series spread throughout the season.

The only other media outlet to release their Preseason Top 25 rankings was Perfect Game. The Gators were ranked 11th in the country in their Preseason Top 25. Perfect Game had five SEC teams ahead of the Gators, with the Texas Longhorns ranked #7. The Florida Gators will begin their 2025 season at home versus Air Force on February 14th.

Slow news cycle lately

With the reign of Poopy Pant's terror winding down, not many new breaking stories. Even the woke and broken Dimtards have settled down just a hair. To be honest, I'm happy for the break in action. It won't last long though, Dimtards gonna Dimtard. The voracity and depths of their stupidity flat out wear me out anymore. Just when you thought you'd heard it all, one of them comes along and says "hold my beer". :(

GATOR BITES:
UF coach Kelly Rae Finley on Florida's win over Georgia:
"I was really pleased with our effort, start to finish, in terms of everybody that came into the game off the bench-our people were extremely, extremely reliable and overall, I thought we did a great job... We're not trying to be perfect, but we're trying to be more perfect than we are not. We don't need to sit around and let other teams lead us, we can initiate. I was pleased with our start, and then I was pleased with how we were able to carry that into the second half as well."

Senior Ra Shaya Kyle and her message from the game:
"I'm just really excited. This is something we've been working on. This is what we've been waiting for and what we have prepared for. We know what we're doing out there, so coming out I was just being the leader I knew I could be. I trust my teammates and giving them that confidence is something that will continue to be done."

Basketball Basketball Tix?

For my son’s (9) birthday I am looking at going to the men’s basketball game against UGA on the 25th. Does anyone have tips on attending with a family of 4, and how to get tickets reasonably? I was shocked at how much they are listing at on secondary markets. And what is the family postgame dinner spot right now?

New Story A&M Grits Notes [Update 1/7/2025, this take didn't age well at all LOL]

I had notes about the game but deleted most of them because they weren’t important anymore. Still, I did keep these…

Hindsight being 20/20, we should’ve made Bateman the DC instead of hiring Armstrong. In foresight, that probably would’ve only been for 2 years before his job was in jeopardy.

I stay away from absolute statements, but we do not have a single interior DL worthy of starting in the SEC.

After such a phenomenal spring game, Jaden Baugh has what, a dozen carries in three games?

On to the headline…

I wish Billy Napier nothing but the best, I have ZERO ill will towards him. I believe that he poured all of his heart and his will into trying to make us a better football team. I believe he gave 100%. I respect anyone who pours everything he has out for my Gators. But it wasn’t good enough and now he’s done.

I’m also angry at Billy because, had he been willing to try some things differently, this could’ve worked really well. But he didn’t and it hasn’t. It’s over and it’s nobody’s fault but his. He saw what was happening and stubbornly trusted his process to work out in the end and refused to relinquish control. So long Billy, thanks for the upgrade in infrastructure.

One of the most entertaining things about the run up to a new coach is seeing the names that don’t have a chance in hell of being hired here. Most people are just speculating but it’s funny because others are the same ones who were screaming about hiring a G5 coach last time but then they’ll post “What about [insert name here ]?” who is also from the G5 or some lower division.

There’s going to be a lot of information being thrown around, we’re going to see a lot of posts about “I know someone who knows someone who knows someone…”. Nobody, outside of a very close few at the top, know who they’re talking to, and who it is. Still, speculation and rumors are the heartbeat of the message board community.

You know who the real winner is here? Rivals. During a coaching search the clicks go orbital.
