Is coaches leaving before the end of the season fair to their teams

ND is still in the thick of things when it comes to the playoff. If Fickell leaves before Cincinnati's playoff game it is totally unfair to the kids on his team. Maybe ENSD should be rolled back and just have NSD. Maybe ENSD be moved to June or July? As it is right now it forces the coaches and schools to accelerate the calendar while leaving their previous teams in a lurch.

Pressure to wait for 2nd signing period

With all these major coaching moves, many involving major recruiting players, I have to imagine all of these staffs are begging kids to wait for the 2nd signing period.

If a lot of the top kids listen I think that will benefit us tremendously. We might have just gotten a little bit of luck in our favor for a change

LSU, UF, USC, OU, ND

I can't imagine any of these schools wanting uncommitted and/or commits to their previous jobs to sign early

Transfer Portal Black Monday

This is expected to be a busy day in the Portal, perhaps the busiest day of the year

Besides Dante Lang, there's already 2 news ones from Alabama: Pierce Quick (OL) and Jackson Bratton (LB).

2 new ones from Missouri as well
1 from BC
1 from Michigan State

This on top of all the Sunday entrants: 2 from Ohio State, 1 from UCLA, and 1 from Michigan State

Why I like Billy Napier over other hires

Billy is young and hungry to prove himself. He knows he has to sell himself to recruits. I see him going out and putting the effort into convincing people to come to Florida.

I think Riley and Kelly, particular Kelly, already have an established reputation and I just don’t think they’re going to have the same fire in their bellies to prove themselves. They’ve already gotten their big pay off and they’re already well regarded as coaches. Kind of like Mullen, who we had to hear every week was a genius. Overtime you lose your fire and your drive.

I think Billy‘s got the fire in the drive and the desire to prove himself. I think he has that more than Kelly and even more than Riley. Riley strikes me as somebody that’s more willing to take the easy way out, although you can’t fault a guy for that contract and getting the live in Southern California and not having a coach in the SEC. He’s more likely to win a championship out there than he ever was in Oklahoma in the SEC.

My two cents on the hirer

Some recent recruit follows by Napier

2022 class:

4-star ILB Jalon Walker (Georgia commit)

5-star DL Travis Shaw (UNC commit)

FIU sophomore OT Miles Frazier

4-star RB Omarion Hampton (UNC commit)

4-star LB Malaki Hamrick (UNC commit)

4-star WR Shaleak Knotts (Maryland commit)

4-star RB Michael Allen (NC State commit)

4-star EDGE Beau Atkinson (UNC commit)

3/4-star LB Torren Wright (NC State commit)

3-star DL Eli Hall (WK commit)

3-star DL Curtis Neal (Wisconsin commit)

4-star WR Dakota Twitty (Virginia commit)

3-star LB Xavier Simmons (Missouri commit)

3-star EDGE James Pearce

3-star ATH Camarion Thornton

3-star CB Isaiah Crowll (NC State commit)

3-star LB Xavier Simmons (Missouri commit)

3-star EDGE James Pearce

3-star ATH Camarion Thornton

3-star CB Isaiah Crowll (NC State commit)

3-star WR Wesley Grimes (WF commit)

3-star WR Chance Morrow (Louisville commit)

3-star LB Daejuan Thompson (NC State commit)

3-star CB Jackson Vick (NC State commit)

3-star CB Zamari Stevenson (WF commit)

All but Frazier and Simmons are from North Carolina. Sounds like he could be retaining/hiring with the chops to recruit the Carolinas (e.g. Brewster).

Convince me we shouldn't fire Scott Stricklin today

Not gonna stop beating this drum until our AD is gone with Mullen. Our football team is in shambles (and on probation). Our basketball team is unranked. We are mired in scandal with the women's basketball team. Our overall athletic championships have dropped over 50% since 2017. We are loading up on debt to build facilities and install chair backs, and our AD has decided now is not a good time for him to display any sign of public leadership.

Go ahead and remind me again why this isn't all his fault?

My Local School Board

Just passed a vax mandate for all Winchester Public School athletes last night.

First off, I hate myself for losing track that this was up for debate. I wasn’t at the meeting, but everyone who was spoke against it.

I might have said this before, but I’m the head coach for the lacrosse team for a WPS High School…BUT we are a club team and only use the school name (and some facilities). Our kids come from all over. I volunteer my time, I carry a full time job (50 hours a week), have two kids in travel lacrosse and volunteer for an expansion travel organization in the area (just to help grow the sport).

Well I sent an email to the president of the school board and the the superintendent. I have a meeting with both tomorrow at 4. Response took 2 hours.

I’ll keep you all posted on how this turns out. I’ve had offers in the past from two other school districts to move my team. I hope it doesn’t come to that because we are at the premier school in the area. We were 7-1 in a decent district in Virginia LY. We aren’t awesome but we don’t suck either.

Should be interesting. But I’m not making my players get vaxxed. It makes no sense.

Gators WR commit goes through in-home visit with Tennessee

Gators WR commit CJ Smith had an in-home visit with Tennessee tonight.

As of today, Florida fans should still feel very good about where his recruitment stands. He is taking these visits as a precautionary measure, but his commitment is still very strong.

Billy Gonzales visited with him earlier today, while another official visit is expected to take place as well.

"I’m excited to see how the future of UF will be now that Coach Napier is a part of the program, and I’m just glad to be a part of it too🐊💯," Smith told me earlier today.

Current Notre Dame Recruits

SIAP….. but with Brian Kelly leaving Notre Dame for LSU, I hope Billy Napier & his staff AND the current UF staff will be reaching out ASAP to Notre Dame recruits. Especially 2023 DE Keon Keeley. I am a big fan of this kid. Kid is a beast and has always been a UF fan growing up.

I don’t see this kid following Kelly to LSU if UF plays its cards right.
