Dooley Tabbed to SEC Community Service Team
Senior middle blocker earns honor for her work in the Gainesville community
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Senior middle blocker Lauren Dooley was named to the 2021 SEC Volleyball Community Service Team, as the league announced Wednesday.
The Plano, Texas native has put in numerous hours with different organizations in the Gainesville community over her career as a Gator.
She participated in visits to UF Shands, where members of different Florida athletic teams visit with children that are patients in the hospital.
Dooley has also participated in Habitat for Humanity, assisting specifically during the Alachua Women Build group - which allows women to take an active role in meeting the need for good, affordable housing in the Gainesville community.
During her tenure, the senior has helped lead the Pep Rally at a local elementary school, where student-athletes lead cheers and give tips to the students on how to stay focused and do their best on upcoming state exams.
Rounding out her service, the Plano, Texas native has been a member of both the Gators Mentor and Positive Behaviors programs, assisting local elementary students in the community.
Dooley and the Gators are set for NCAA Tournament play, with the squad taking on Florida A&M on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Exactech Arena.
