Verbal,/signing/Free agency( Portal)

I remember when at one time when kids made a verbal pledge to a school it was generally a lock( especially with b ball).Over the last number of years it seems as if a verbal does not mean much( Look at Hunter and FSU) .Now that we have in effect free agency it appears as though the signature is no longer the be all end all.Look at the Evers situation with OSU.The coaches now must work on recruiting their own players as well as others

Who is left after ESD? A run-down of available players.

We all know CBN was putting a high priority in evaluation, thus his comments about seeing who was leftover after ESD, and then working them hard to find some gems for NSD in Feb. I'm keeping a running list here of players on the Rivals player rankings who are available thus far after today.

Disclaimer: I am trusting Rivals to have updated accurately who has signed and who has not signed. So far, it seems there are a lot of discrepancies, but I'm going to go with what Rivals has posted, for better or worse.

I have listed their Rivals position ranking, star rating, and school they've committed to (if any). Also their national ranking.

(Additional Disclaimer: It appears that there is some sort of mixup with Ohio State as none of their commitments are appearing as "signed". That means these numbers are inflated. I will change them as soon as Rivals does.)

If these numbers are accurate, of the 755 ranked players, only 175 still remain in play, roughly 23%. Of those 175, 11 are 5*, 73 are 4*, and 91 are 3*.
If you remove the 18 members of OSU's class, only 157 of the 755 are available, roughly 21%. Of those 157, 9 are 5*, 59 are 4*, and 89 are 3*.

Of those 175, 56 are in the Top 250. 22% of the top 250.
If you remove OSU (who has 13 members in the top 250!!), there are 43 members of the top 250 available, or only 17%.

The question is: of these 175, how many does UF (a) want, and/or (b) have a shot at? (See Jason's list!)

Temper Expectations

I realize we have experts predicting a bunch of last minute victories for UF tomorrow. Other than 1 year with Spurrier and 1 maybe 2 years with Urban…all the last minute hype typically ends with a whimper. Tomorrow we will sign 5 or so guys that aren’t really coveted elsewhere while the big dogs pick our rivals. Don’t shoot the messenger, It’s just what the odds say. I’m excited to see what the rest of the staff looks like and if ace’s like Tosh and others are apart of it. If so, we may have a bump class for the ages.

Targets moving into Feb NSD?

EH, JH, I know the board will expand, but are there any kids that didn’t sign yesterday that we will zero in on? I know EH posted a thread the other day with February targets as well. Not sure if it grew or shrank after yesterday. I know it’s been said, but great job yesterday JH! The ONLY one to know Kamari would be a Gator, you the best!

Julian Armella Quick Hitter

Julian Armella Quick Hitter:
I apologize for being gone for a few hours. As soon as the Shemar James deal went down + putting the Napier press conference on the front page, I booked it for a 7:00 PM dinner with three buddies of mine. As soon as I sat down, yup, you guessed it, my phone started blowing up about Julian Armella. Here is what I can tell you. A few hours ago, the mother spoke to Florida (1st time), and she told UF she was excited about them visiting Florida after the dead period.

Florida has not been told or anything remotely close to the idea he will announce for UF tonight, nothing of the kind. I do believe the mother wants him away from Florida State. I have heard the mom/dad are unfortunately not on good terms. I know some kids are hinting we have more good news coming, but if it is, Armealla, Florida has not been told. I could see FSU for sure and that is the safe pick, Miami or even LSU because of Mason Taylor. I have no idea on this one lol I thought my night was over, but I guess not. I "think" he announces for one of those teams tonight but maybe does not sign until Feb and takes visits. I have no issues telling you I don't know when I don't know.....

Best signing day ever?

Obviously not out best class ever (and I think we will get a few more blue chip recruits before it is over), but is this the best Signing Day we’ve had?

(1) Grab 2 five stars - one from IMG!!!! And the other from Bama that nobody would have thought we were getting 5 days ago.

(2) Grab a 4 star DT who lives spitting distance from Norman.

(3) in a transition class with at most 1 position coach staying on

(4) No flips away from UF, and

(5) FSU being the laughing stock of the day when their most famous football alum steals their number 1 legacy recruit almost completely out of nowhere.

Hard to think of a signing day that has gone better for us
