SDS Article (Hayes) on UF under Mullen

According to a former staffer:

“We recruited with no home base, no foundation of what we were looking for,” a former Florida staffer told me. “The prevailing idea from the top down was we’re not begging players to come here.”

"“Both of those years, we were adding guys late that we probably shouldn’t have,” the former Florida staffer said. “We’d lose on guys, then scramble for Plan B’s that may have those stars, but that we knew didn’t make sense for us, and may not make it for one reason or another.”

Imagine that...

Win the games that you’re supposed to win.

Interesting Article by Nathan Hughes -

New Year’s Resolutions: Nine things that Napier needs to do in 2022

https://www.gatorcountry.com/featur...-nine-things-that-napier-needs-to-do-in-2022/

I zeroed in on His last point - win the games you are supposed to win - no upsets because of poor preparation.

Hughes divides next year's schedule into 3 parts -
Those we should win
tossups
not mentioned - i.e. no chance

Those we should win; not sure I agree that all these games belong in this category -

"...There are seven games that the Gators should win next season."

Kentucky - @BHG Stadium; Wildcats won 20-13 last year at home; a tossup IMO
South Florida
Eastern Washington
Missouri - @BHG Stadium; Missouri wins on last second 2 pt conversion; not a tossup, but closer than you think
South Carolina - @BHG Stadium; Gamecocks crush Gators 40-17; hoping for a tossup
Vanderbilt
Florida State -@Doak Campbell, last year, 24-21 Gators @BHG; toss up on the road

"...There are three games that should be considered toss-ups"
Utah - even @ BHG Stadium, not in the 1st game under a new staff
Tennessee - @Neyland Stadium; Gators 38-14 @BHG before wheels came off; Vols beat Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina - hope its a tossup on the road but doubt it
LSU - @BHG Stadium; LSU beat Gators 49-42 at home; 3-5 SEC; 6-6 overall; last in the west; tossup

Losses - added Utah
EDIT
Utah - @BHG Stadium; Utah Overall 10-3; 8-1 Conf headed to Rose Bowl; NOT a tossup; Strickland's policy of better quality OOC opponents bites us; Gators start out 0-1

Obvious problems -
Texas A&M-@Kyle field
UGA - WLOCP in Jacksonville

"...If they win all seven of the games that they’re supposed to win and go 2-1 in the toss-up games, that should be considered a successful debut season for Napier."

Right now, I don't see Gators going 9-3; hoping for more of a 7-5; losing to Utah in 1st game bound to have a big negative impact.

BUT - glass half full - we haven't even -

filled out the on the field coaching staff
had NSD
had Spring practice

So maybe I am being a Sad Gator needlessly & crying too soon; I hope so !
