Why is Napier doing this?

I think it is very obvious what is happening right now. We are losing some talented players in this class and some are simply not Florida caliber players no question about that. I think the “why” is what we’re all missing right now.

We all know we currently have a culture issue at UF and it runs deep.

I don’t think it’s just talent evaluations that Napier doesn’t trust from the previous staff. I think it’s also their evaluations of “some” prospects as people.

Listen, I’m not saying they’re bad kids at all. I’m just saying I believe he looks at it like he knows Florida has a culture issue so he’s going to clean house from the inside out and he’s not going to accept or trust the previous staffs evaluations.

He needs to be 100% sure that the players we are going to take in this class are all in on the culture and “The Journey”.

The fact that a lot of the staff is at IMG today should tell us they will be recruiting elite players just probably not this year until they get to know the coaches and players better.

We are in the foundation phase of this right now.

January 28th 2022 - UPDATE - I removed both James and Henry from our Visit list for this weekend. Sorry it was not done last night - Youngest has Covid now I have it - hitting me real hard so I have been knocked out for the most part the last two days. The OV list shows four right now - in the next hour or so it will show five fyi. A player I think is way way under the radar, love his attitude, potential, film, the way he carries himself etc....UPDATE - Jack went ahead and tweeted about his OV this weekend so there you go. That was my Mystery Recruit for this weekend.....

January 26, 2022 - UPDATE - I am taking Winston off the list as well as Dudley. These are not paths I see UF taking moving forward. I have said that about Dudley for a long time and regarding Winston - that spot imo is now off the board. Andrew is bigger and better I believe and I think that is the line of thinking from our staff as well.

January 25, 2022 - UPDATE - I am removing Gentry Williams from the MLL list. Florida will visit with Jalen Farmer and Khamari Terrell today - just a few kids UF will see today.

January 24, 2022 - UPDATE - Not 100% but I sure do love it when a plan comes together, kid moves into the RedZone (Andrew) and goes public for UF. Nice when things work the way they are supposed to work. Big day for our RZ as two have announced to join the Gator Nation today.

January 23, 2022 - UPDATE - I moved TE Hayden Hansen from our RZ to our commit list. I have also added a few in our RZ list in order. I do not feel great on Winston but they think they are in a good spot so we will see what happens over the next two weeks. I am ready to PUT this class behind us in the worst way and move forward to 2023 100%. I am taking Jenkins off the MLL/RZ list.

January 20th, 2022 - UPDATE - Added Jordan James to the OV visitor list for the 28th after catching up with him today.

January 17th, 2022 - UPDATE - Moved OL O'Cyrus Torrence from our RedZone to our Transfer/Portal Commit list (5) + Miguel Mitchell to our commit list (12) gives UF 17 kids currently with more on the way.

January 16th, 2022 - UPDATE -Moving Miguel Mitchell into the redzone. I am going to also add Winston and Douglas has been in the RedZone for a while. Might take a while to "read" this staff but until proven otherwise we will go with it and see what happens.....Harold Perkins -- he had a great and I do mean GREAT time...He is REAL close with Kamari Wilson, issue is he is real close with multiple kids going to Texas A&M. Jamar Chaney also killed it with Perkins this weekend but now we wait and see if the bond he has with WIlson and the bonds he made with other future Gators from this weekend can pry him away from the Aggies. I can also tell you that Malik Bryant was blown away by what he heard from Coach Toney - I think Coach Toney might end up being that "dude" on the recruiting trail for the Gators. Ok there is one down Miguel Mitchell....Yes, I was sitting on Javon Baker visiting UF this weekend.....Update, not sure what I was thinking earlier - did not mean to add Arlis just yet need to see something on him first....

January 12th, 2022 - UPDATE - Just a quick note. CB Jahlil Florence previously told me he had one OV remaining and was deciding between four schools (one of which being UF) as far as where he would visit. He should be in Miami this weekend for his last Official Visit. Dave Luli and Matthew McCoy will also be making OV's with the Canes this weekend.

January 11th, 2021 - UPDATE - Quick Note O'Cyrus Torrence - I know he was showing up as a student but what I can tell you is he will come on the UF OV and we will take it from there. I did not put him in the RedZone without a great reason but it is not done yet.......

January 8th, 2022 - UPDATE - I moved Etienne to our commit list, and removed a couple of WR's from the MLL with Coleman/Neyor

December 29th, 2021 - UPDATE - I added Miguel Mitchell to the OV list for January 14th. Justius looks like Utah the 14th and UF the 21st BUT he said that is not all set up yet but potentially. Also, added DL Taulu to the MLL just a guy who has become anothe POI for Napier and the Gators. He has put on about 40-pounds since he came out as a 240-pound TE back in the day

December 28th, 2021 - UPDATE - I think if he can get past the distances which is a big if but if he can Winston is someone I know Coach Toney will knock it out of the park with on his OV. I think he is someone we need to keep an eye on.

December 26th, 2021 - UPDATE - I moved some guys around, added two ONLY because I know how hard UF is going after them. This MLL is going to represent the Big Board - players UF is targeting so you can get an idea of who they are going after. We will move them around in order of Most Likely later as OV's start to unfold. I did leave one player off the list though to see how things materialize behind closed doors first.....

December 23rd, 2021 - UPDATE - I am going to keep Robbie Roper on the MLL out of respect of him and his family. I believe he was going to land the UF offer and join the Gator Nation. With that in mind I will keep him listed with everyone else on the MLL until we turn it over for the 23 kids in Feb.

December 23rd, 2021 - UPDATE - Just a little house cleaning today -added a few new players to the MLL - recent offers from the new staff - Winston, Henry, and Boardingham

December 21st, 2021 - UPDATE - As you all know by now my "Patience" alert was for QB Jack Miller. So, that one is done and over.

December 19th, 2021 - UPDATE - Nothing major today just some house cleaning taking TE Mac Markway off our 2023 commit list. This decision was done the second Dan was fired bc Brewster had no shot of returning and Mac loves Brewster. Also, work in progress but I added Kirkland and Kinsler to the Big Board for 2023. I can tell you the focus is all about the 22 and portal kids right now - they are evaluating a ton of film for that crew.

December 18th, 2021 - UPDATE - I am starting to mold together the 2023 RZ & MLL. This will no doubt be a huge project with the new staff coming in. I have lots of recruits to add to the MLL which at this point should be considered the Friend Zone. I have roughly 20 more players to add. No reason to keep all the other kids listed (On Previous RZ/MLL) because they have signed so starting a new thread.

WELCOME TO PANIC DAY, EVERYBODY!

WELCOME TO PANIC DAY, EVERYBODY! Day before NSD. Time for all of those bizarre rumors and innuendos to surface so we can all spend the day flip-flopping between excitement, anxiety, and depression. Then on to tomorrow, where many of us will frantically hit F5 looking for whatever good news SHOULD have happened in the last five seconds on a recruit who isn't committing for another three hours and then start shoe-gazing when some recruit who wasn't even on our radar commits to their hometown team in Cali, causing us to say it's a massive failure by our staff and a sign that CBN is in over his head and doomed to failure.

Get your popcorn. Make an appointment with your therapist and your nail tech (to take care of the nubs you have left after chewing on them all day). Take you antacids and your blood pressure medicine.

It's gonna be a bumpy ride!! HOOYAH!

Langworthy Returns to Gators as Student Assistant Coach

Langworthy Returns to Gators as Student Assistant Coach

Langworthy played in 198 games for the Gators from 2017-20 and helped Florida capture the program's first-ever national title as a freshman.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Former Florida outfielder Austin Langworthy is returning to the Gators as a student assistant coach for the 2022 season.

"We are excited to welcome Austin back to Gator Nation as an integral part of our coaching staff for the 2022 season," head coach Kevin O'Sullivan said. "Austin exemplified the qualities we look for at Florida during his four years as a player here, and I have no doubt he will continue to bring value to our program as a student assistant coach while he works on the completion of his degree."

Langworthy, who was a mainstay in the Florida outfield from 2017-20, joins the Gators coaching staff after a brief run with the Detroit Tigers organization as a player from 2020-21. After going undrafted in the 2020 MLB Draft, Langworthy signed with Detroit as a free agent.

Perhaps best remembered for his 11th inning walk-off home run vs. Auburn in Game 3 of the 2018 Super Regionals, Langworthy appeared in 198 games including 195 starts over the course of his four-year run with the Gators. He finished his career with a .270/.369/.413 batting line, totaling 19 home runs, five triples, 36 doubles, 130 runs, 106 RBI and 20 stolen bases.

Langworthy made 53 starts as a freshman in 2017 as the Gators captured their first-ever national title, and later started 16 games in left field during the 2020 campaign in which Florida went 16-1 and finished the year as the nation's No. 1 team. During that 2017 campaign, Langworthy was named a Second Team Freshman All-American by Perfect Game while also garnering College World Series All-Tournament Team honors. In 2019, he was tabbed to the NCAA Lubbock All-Regional Team.

The Williston, Fla. native also held status as a two-way talent, pitching in 18 games from 2017-19 with a 3.34 ERA across 32.1 innings pitched.

Also accomplished off the diamond, Langworthy was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in each of his four years at Florida.

Gators Receive National Rankings Ahead of 2022 Season

Gators Receive National Rankings Ahead of 2022 Season
It's the eighth consecutive season that Florida has received preseason top 10 national rankings in both major polls.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Florida softball program has received multiple Top 10 national rankings heading into the 2022 season. UF was tabbed No. 6 in the 2022 USA Today/NFCA DI Top 25 Preseason Coaches' Poll and No. 5 in the 2022 ESPN.com/USA Softball Preseason Collegiate Top 25 poll.

Additionally, the Gators also received a No. 5 ranking in the D1Softball.com Top 25 Poll and ranked No. 6 in Softball America's 2022 NCAA Preseason Top 25.

The pair of national rankings issued by the NFCA and USA Softball mark the eighth-consecutive season that Florida will start its season nationally ranked inside the top 10. The Gators have also been nationally ranked inside the top 25 of both polls for 217 consecutive weeks, a mark that dates back to 2007.

Florida's 2022 schedule also boasts eight teams that have received preseason top 25 rankings. The program is set to take on No. 2/2 Alabama, No. 4/6 Florida State, No. 8/9 Arkansas, No. 16/13 Michigan, No. 14/15 LSU, No. 22/16 Tennessee, No. 20/18 Duke and No. 17/22 James Madison.
Historically the Gators have fared well when facing ranked opponents. UF holds a record of 345-261 (.569) against competition ranked in the USA Today/NFCA Top 25 and is 303-172 (.638) against teams ranked in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25.

Those marks only improve under the leadership of Head Coach Tim Walton as squads holds records of 281-132 (.680) and 277-134 (.674) against opponents ranked in the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball polls respectively.

This year the program returns a plethora of players from last year's squad, which includes NFCA All-Americans Charla Echols, Hannah Adams and Elizabeth Hightower. That trio anchors a group of 16 returning contributors from last season, along with the addition of 2021 transfer Skylar Wallace and six newcomers.

Entering their first year with the program is graduate transfer Marissa Mesiemore, and freshmen Cali Decker, Lexie Delbrey, Kendra Falby, Sam Roe and Reagan Walsh. Roe, a catcher, joined the program this January as an early enrollee and Mesiemore is a graduate transfer from FGCU.

Florida opens its 2022 season Friday, Feb. 11, at 5:30 p.m. against Illinois State in Tampa, Fla. at USF's tournament. The program's first home game is set for Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 6 p.m. against Jacksonville.
