Football Exciting Aggressive Offenses?

I’m getting old, I’ve been beaten down by how bad we have been for years and I’m enjoying more golf and travel of late, so I’m not up on a lot of the college football teams like I used to be and don’t watch much football right now. For those of you calling for an exciting offense, which I would be one, what teams are running an exciting type offense you would want to see at UF?
I need another team or two to follow this season.

Football The Army?

Sorry for a new thread, but I haven’t seen this specifically addressed.
With as many people that have been involved with Napier’s Army, how is it possible we are still so bad and have seen no real signs of improvement anywhere but special teams? Is the benefit of an “ army “ overblown or is it that Commander in Chief was over his head and led his troops accordingly?

Football "This was the same offense we've seen for 2 years"

I've seen this comment made ad nauseam and I understand why, in effect, we saw the worst of what we've seen the last 2 years. But, from what I witnessed in the stands and saw in replays, this offense did look different. Given these differences I am going to assume Billy was not calling the offense.

1. Not a single time did we run our bread and butter, PA Roll Out Right with Flood to the Right. We run this play 5+ times every game since Billy has been here.

2. In the 2nd possession we went empty with 5 WRs. A very rare occurrence for this offense. I imagine we see a bit more of this with Lagway.

3. In the 1st Quarter with 5 minutes left at Miami's 42 we pass the ball on 3rd and 7. Billy always runs in this situation to set up a 4th and manageable. Unfortunately we had a 1 yard dunk to Montrell that forced us to punt.

4. The emphasis on downfield passing. This probably was a mixture of game planning and/or play calling but it's something we've all wanted, maybe to a fault. Against Miami 56% of Mertz's pass were 10+ yards downfield, with 50% of those being 20+ yards downfield. Relative to last year, we threw the ball 10+ yards twice as much and 20+ yards 2.5* as much.

5. The lack of play action. We called 50% less play action plays. This may have been an in game adjustment because after the first completion we may not have had another completion on play action all day.

IHS

I see you are itching for someone to meet up with you at a football game in Gainesville to talk political differences. I know I have extended an offer before, but got no response. So once more, I would be thrilled to meet you anywhere from Gainesville to Pasco county. I certainly am not one to hide behind a keyboard. Understand that I am a military veteran…. Not my mommy and daddy. To be clear, there is a zero percent chance that you would say the things you say to my face…. ZERO. You would bury that tail between your low T having ass. I’m available. Easy to find. Go Gators.

Football This is the worst team I can remember

I honestly can’t remember a Gator team that has looked this bad in my lifetime. UCF is better, FSU is better and probably USF too. We have zero talent on both lines of scrimmage. Our secondary STILL gives up easy completions on third or fourth downs. It is gut wrenching to watch. I’m 48 and can remember all the way back to the G. Hall days, but honestly don’t remember a Gator team this bad. The regression from last year to this year is difficult to understand. These kids have bought in and planned every minute of their lives and have been led down the sewer

QB rotation question

So is this a 50/50 platoon now? Maybe I didnt read up enough this past week, but my assumption was Mertz as QB1 with Lagway packages. I'm certainly not against Lagway taking over; I've just never seen, off memory, a QB platoon situation where the QBs are alternating entire series and certainly not this type of setup that worked. And it obviously wasn't about finding and riding the hot hand because one QB would lead a scoring drive and then get yanked for the next series.

I witnessed with everyone else Spurrier sending the playcalls in with alternating QBs every play on various occasions but even he admitted that was not ideal. Yesterday's QB rotation just seemed so...odd. Along with the OL rotations vs Miami and (as another thread notes) yesterday's WR grouping -- specifically walk-on Spierto seeing the third most snaps among the WR room.

By all means set me straight if this QB shuffling every series has been done before and worked at a high level. Otherwise it just looks to me like a head coach that can't make a big decision.

Football Lincoln Riley

This is who in my opinion would be the best possible hire. Reportedly wanted to come here back in 2021. Knows Lagway and his family, recruited him very hard before he committed to us. We have some good weapons on the roster in DJ, Tre, Mizell, Baugh, Tank, and a few others and can bring some in with him. Reminds me of a Spurrier offense. Would recruit well here with the talent pool in state and nearby areas OOS.

Tell me I’m right or tell me I’m wrong, go.

Texas A&M @ Florida...

Looks like this game opened up A&M as a 3 1/2 point road favorite. I can see why the line was set like that but unlike the Miami game I think we have a much better chance to win this game. Unless our defense makes him look much better than he has (which seems to happen a lot lately) their QB hasn't played good and doesn't seem to be in sync with their receivers. He is definitely not in the same ballpark as Cam Ward. They look like they will probably try to lean on their running game a lot. Their offense is limited.

Their defense is an above average SEC defense but this defense isn't as talented as their defense last season and is not in the same league with a team like Georgia.

I think as long as Dickson starts instead of Waites we can use TEs at times and work around the O line issue some. Dickson appears to actually be able to move his feet some on pass protection unlike Waites. I think if we keep them at 24 points or less we will win this game. A&M is also on a long SEC road game losing streak.
