CD was talking about it this morning on the radio and they couldn't come up with an answer. They said with all the player movement due to nil it's hard to keep 3 guys on the roster...hmmm.

Outside of what anybody says, I believe firmly that Billy put his tombstone in the dirt last night. Will we fire him this week? No. He will be the head coach at the University of Florida through game 12. He has plenty of opportunities to turn things around and go on a tear. But will he? No. He’s been digging his grave for the past couple years, last night he put the finishing touches on it. Horrific play calling along with Questionable coaching decisions have plagued the Gators for far too long. With that being said, I see 2 names tossed around more than anyone. Franklin and Kiffin. My honest question to everyone who believes Franklin is the guy is Who’s ceiling is actually higher? Franklin has spent 11 years at Penn St. He has won 4 Bowl games. You read that right. 11 Years, 4 bowl wins. That’s not what we’re looking for in Gainesville and we all know that. You cannot argue that that Penn St doesn’t pull the same talent that UF does. That’s just not true. Franklin has all he needs to win at PSU. Not saying Kiffin is a sure hire, but if the UAA wants to win this fanbase back, Kiffin is how they do it. As for myself, I feel like we have one option and one option only. HIRE THE WINNER IN THE SEC. Penn State plays in the Big 10. Who else in the Big 10 are good football teams outside of OSU/Mich? Franklin has won 1 Big 10 championship. 11 Years, 4 bowl wins, 1 Conference Championship and a Rape scandal. What Kiffin has built at Ole miss has been nothing shy of remarkable based on the talent pool he has to work with. You cannot base his success off of a couple losses his year. However, he’d be willing to leave it all to win a National Championship, which is what he is capable of at the University of Florida.

If Napier is fired, DJ will transfer to Auburn. It will suck to watch two former Gators win a natty and a heisman for Auburn.

Coming at the coaching convo from a different angle - list the 5 coaches doing the best job so far this year. NOT who may be an option for UF.

Thank you Graham Mertz for everything you gave the Gators the last two years. You truly earned every penny of your NIL and you were an absolute warrior for the O&B.

With that being said DJ, son you’re no longer a freshman. You’re now a season freshman, who has received an extensive amount playing time. Plus the atmosphere don’t get any tougher than last Saturday night in Neyland stadium. I know we came up short, but you and the team played your butts off.

Moving forward, I know the Nancy’s and Karen’s in Gator land don’t want to hear this, but you literally have your HBC tenure at UF in your hands. Continue to put up performances like last Saturday night couple with a few more point and anything is possible. There are some very winnable games left on the schedule, starting with Kentucky in the Swamp! Put up 28 pts with a complimentary defense performance and that will be step

Billy would likely be killing it right now if he simply hired an OC when he got hired and didn’t hire a strength coach who has been fired at every stop. Maybe not killing it but I bet we would’ve won 8+ first two years and would be 5-1 right now. The lack of self awareness by this guy is truly baffling.

Two #3's on punt return team against Utah resulting in Utah retaining possession on a drive that would result in a TD. Turning point of the game.

Against Arky, Billy runs the field goal unit onto the field before Mertz has a chance to spike it after long pass to Boardingham. With 8 seconds left the would be game winning kick is backed up to 44 yards instead of 39. Smack barely misses, probably wouldve been good from 39, and the Gators lose in OT. Probably shouldnt have even had the chance to kick it because there shouldve been a 10 second runoff.

UT. You know this one. Its fresh. 12 men on the field for a FG to end the first half. This time there WAS a runoff. No kick. The rest is history. The dumbfounded look on Billy's face as the refs explained the rules of college football to him was just....the chefs kiss.

All 3 are classic examples of Billy doing Billy things but which is your favorite?

Watched her recap of the game, and made a lot of since. BN running plays in certain situations that were designed to get an estimated amount of yardage, versus plays designed to put pressure on their defense or get a first down or score. Winning requires a person to think outside the norm, that's why when Tennessee went for it on fourth down on their on side of the field, and Napier went with the analytical decision on fourth, and punted when we needed one yard showed who was playing to win versus who was playing not to lose.

You have been a bright spot for the Gators the past 2 seasons. You have represented the orange and blue with class and toughness.

He’s moved up to #1 for me. Franklin recruits better and puts more emphasis on all 3 aspects of the game. Lane’s star is fading week by week.

Bottom line
We need a dude who is a freaking Alpha leader and can go recruit Alpha players.
And… can coach offenses that score points
Spurrier, Urban, Saban, Dabo, Kirby, Harbaugh
Are all leaders that HATE to lose and can get players.

• 8 plays (73%) were runs or passes behind the LOS (also runs) from 14-20 yards out (Mertz's fumble at the 1 the only exception being at the 1 yd line)

Mertz's TD pass from 13 yards out was the only pass attempt at the goal line in 11 plays....in 6 trips in the redzone....

The "OC" puckers up and is afraid to attack the endzone. Not even trying.

Three Takeaways from Florida’s loss versus Tennessee

The Florida Gators had a heartbreaking loss to the Tennessee Volunteers Saturday night. The Gators lost to the eighth-ranked Tennessee Volunteers 20-17 in overtime. Florida outplayed the Volunteers but still found a way to lose the game.



Florida’s coaching staff had an awful showing and it could be the final nail in the coffin for Billy Napier at UF. The Florida defense played another excellent slowing down on the best offenses in college football. Florida also had some key injuries that might change the trajectory of their season even more. Here are my three takeaways from Florida’s loss versus Tennessee.



Coaching costs Florida the win



The Florida Gators coaching staff once again cost the Florida Gators a chance to win a very winnable game. The Gators were in control for the entire game but found ways to shoot themselves in the foot and leave points on the field.



In the first half, Florida had three offensive drives that ended in the red zone with no points. Questionable play-calling was key to Florida’s inability to finish drives in the end zone. One example was running an end around on fourth and less than an inch instead of QB sneaking with your 235-pound quarterback.



The University of Florida’s athletic department needs to realize that Napier is not the right coach to make Florida a national powerhouse again. The Gators aren’t even a .500 team with this coaching staff. There’s talent on the roster, but Florida’s coaching staff is holding the program back. It’s time to make a change before the damage is irreversible.



2. Defense has another excellent performance



Heading into Saturday’s matchup, the Tennessee Volunteers offense averaged over 45 points per game. Their offense also performs better in Neyland Stadium, especially with their ground game.



Florida did their best to limit Tennessee’s rushing offense and forced Tennessee’s quarterback, Nico Iamaleava, to throw the ball. The Gators front seven won in the trenches and even forced two turnovers.



While Florida lost the game, the defense deserves their praise for keeping their offense in the game. The defense played well enough to win the game but Florida continues to find creative ways to lose football games.



3. Two major injuries on Florida’s offense



Things went from bad to worse for the Gators as Florida lost two of their most experienced players to injuries. Graham Mertz and Montrell Johnson both suffered knee injuries in the second half of the game.



Both players were playing well in the game, as Mertz completed 11 out of 15 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown. Mertz suffered a non-contact injury on the touchdown pass to Arlis Boardingham. Johnson was having his best game of the season when he suffered his injury. The former Louisiana transfer rushed for 85 yards on twelve carries.



Both of these injuries didn’t look good, and their status for the next games is uncertain. If Mertz is out, DJ Lagway will be Florida’s starting quarterback. If Johnson is out, Florida will mix in two running backs with Jadan Baugh and Ja’Kobi Jackson. Treyaun Webb could also get some playing time if he’s healthy for next Saturday’s game versus Kentucky.

The fans suffer. The players suffer, and even the media suffers.
