UFs offense hasn’t been terrible for 8 yrs straight. UF also plays in the SEC which is the toughest conference in football and has had how many national championships and how many national championship programs over the last few decades. Also when was the last time a Big 12 team even won the national title?
You aren’t making an apples to apples comparison. We can agree to disagree. I think the last decade or two of poor results in the big games should absolutely be taken into consideration. This isn’t just a one or two year hiccup from Oklahoma or the Big 12. More like a one or two decade issue.
You know it! I know it! Everybody in the country knows it that OU would have likely been in the 6th best team in the SEC this year. I agree with a 4 team playoff but the system is still flawed.
You cant use conference to justify what you said before tho. Im not arguing conferences. We dont agree on that. Saying OU would be 6th in the SEC is laughable to me tho and shows confirmation bias on your part. LSU ran thru the SEC like a hot knife with butter. Prior to Mullen the Gators offense was bad for at least 8 yrs or so. That shouldnt disqualify you guys now because you have a better offense now.
In conclusion, i dont agree with you using previous yrs to dictate what should happen now. It should be only this yr and this yr only. Imagine Lebron never getting a chance to play in the playoffs because he lost his first 7 yrs and the NBA went, meh, he hasnt won before what can change now.
I feel like this is the delusion of the SEC fanbase as a whole. You think only your conference is worthy. As i pointed out in another thread, the ACC has been to 4 out of the last 6 championship games and is 3 and 1 against the SEC in those championship games. The SEC is the best conference imo but they are not worldy better. Texas smoked UGA last yr and Texas is from the big 12 and plays "no defense". To me you are generalizing and plaguing OU when LSU put up 42 on you guys and 46 on Bama and 50 on A and M. They are a hell of an offense that nobody can stop except themselves. We must agree to disagree because i dont think you will ever change your mind on this.
I dont know. Clemson has the best defensive coaching they will face. I think they are capable of it for sure. They will have to make mistakes and Clemson will have to take advantage for them not to. I could see a 48 to 45 type game
Yes OU would be 6th in the SEC. LSU had 49 points and 500 yards of offense at HALF TIME!! UF, Auburn and Bama all gave LSU a much better games than OU did. Sure other conferences are good but saying the SEC is the best conference over the last few decades certainly isn’t bias. It’s factual. Over the last few decades the SEC had had UF, Bama, LSU, Auburn and even Tennessee have won national titles. The ACC is compete crap and has had 2 programs that have ever done much of anything on the national scene in Clemson and FSU and your have the nerve to tell me I’m showing bias and you bring up the crap ACC that has 2 football programs in the entire conference and then a bunch of schools that care more about basketball.
Not sure what in the heck Lebron James has to do with anything. He’s an individual player. By the way in the NBA just about half the teams make the playoffs and seeds are based on win and loss records. Not on a committee seeding teams. Again not an apples to apples comparison. I’m actually in complete shock you brought up Lebron and the NBA??? Huh? That made zero sense. No of course I’m not changing my mind and there is nothing you can say to change it so it’s best to probably just agree to disagree on this.
That would be crazy if it happens. I do think Clemson might have to hold them to about 34 points or lower to win.

If they played 10 times i think clemson would win 6 or 7 but LSU can catch fire and beat the crap out of them. They are both damn good teams and when 2 great teams matchup i always go to coaching and QB... Think the QB is even and i think clemson is slightly better with coaching. Gunna be interesting for sure. Its a lose lose for me because i dont want clemson to win but i also dont want lsu to win.

Can we bump this back to the top?? Yes OU should be affected in the future when it comes to consideration for the playoffs. The Big 12 is horrendous. After tonight the Big 12 will likely be 1-6 in bowl games. They just haven’t played good football in that conference in years. When was the last Big 12 team to win a national title??
FWIW I agree with you. Strength of schedule MATTERS. After watching these miserable meaningless bowls I may have crossed the threshold of not wanting an expanded playoff schedule to be expanded to 6 or 8................but with a major caveat. Playoff spots will be allocated much like they are now based on rankings, not just doled out based on conference champions..........that approach smacks of a joke allowing the tallest midgets of weakling conferences into the playoffs.......participation trophies. But you wouldn't believe the number of snowflakes that would prefer that option. I still remember way back when before the current format some talking head analysts advocating that very bullshit.

There is nothing wrong with P5 conference champions and a couple wild cards making the playoffs. Or should we just give the national title to the SECCG winner every year?
