He doesn't need to pursue running for President against the most popular Republican of all time, but here we are.
The dems could give a rat's ass about DeSantis, they will do anything to stop Trump.
In fact, I suspect the dems made sure Trump knew they were meeting with DeSantis, and that DeSantis was listening. They knew what Trump would do and what division that would cause among the pubs.
Again, if DeSantis doesn't listen to the dems, none of this plan goes forward. Don't forget that.
I could see a scenario where the dems pitch an idea to DeSantis: We want to move the party back to the middle, and we want you to take us there.
At first but Fox the main one for the right totally turned on Trump after he won NH. It was laughable how much they went after him trying to make him lose. Fox also in 2015 early on tried to end Trump's run at that debate where that moderator lady was bragging beforehand that someone's run was probably going to be over after that Fox debate.

I would be astonished if that happens. I think you overestimate how much Democrats like DeSantis. They hate him. They just hate him less than Trump.
Again, dems could care less about DeSantis, they view him as a potential tool to stop Trump, that's it.
If DeSantis is receptive to their ideas, and it appears he is, then I think based on how receptive he is, they could float the idea of rebranding the party as the 'people's' party, and he leads it.
Stopping Trump is the #1 mission of the democratic party. By any means necessary. Once you understand that, anything that leads to that is on the table.

Conservative media hasn't written Trump off just yet. Caught a bit of the Mark Kaye show today. He's a huge fan of both Trump and DeSantis. He said some things that made a lot of sense. One, Trump is a national phenom. Outside of the south, DeSantis doesn't have much more fanfare than say the governor of Texas. He needs another term as governor, building the national rep. He's not ruling out not running in 24, because we don't know what Trump will do. Trump might decide not to run, or the Dimtards might try to have him arrested. It's what banana republics do, but here we are.
Finally, Kaye said the same thing I've been saying forever. It doesn't matter who the GOP nominee is, they will pull out all the stops to paint him as evil and a disciple of Satan. Well TN went 2-1 for Trump both times. TN went 2-1 for the governor this year. This state save Memphis and Nashville is solid red. Listening to conservative radio and switching between two stations I heard one Trump supporter still all in.
All the other calls were for him to move on and for Desantis to be the leader. All were pretty much in agreement that attacking other pubs is the reason they are moving on.

Looking at DeSantis press conference its looking even more likely he is going to jump in bed with the establishment and run. Hopefully Trump plays their game correctly and doesn't let this fester too long before just coming right out and pointing out that this is the Paul Ryan and Jeb Bush backers behind the scenes with all the money.
