I think its pretty simple when look at roster and roster mgmt issues:
we lost 5-7 sub 2-3 point games vs NCAA tourney teams / OT losses (gtown, ku, unc , scUM, ms st etc) so not all hope lost for next year
Current Roster was decimated -- Dev Walker ACL gone for year, B Francis academics/Egbunu transfer, Murphy half year , then injuries to Eli Carter , Frazier and DFS cost them 10+ games each ...then Dillon Graham a total waste of scholly --
thats 8 roster spots that we got maybe 2 healthy playing full year guys out of ---> no margin for error , ran our other guys ragged and forced walk ons like Kurtz to be 20 min per game players .....forget Hill and Walker and D Robinson not developing vs expectations
All goes back / starts with recruiting
2011 - B Beal class - we lost Walter Pitchford a 6 10" pogo stick to transfer - guy wud have been a solid contributor if stayed as a Senior 4/5 player for us
2012 - D Graham epic waste of scholly,
Braxton Ogbueze transferring KILLED our PG play -- imagine him as a Junior vs Choizza...kid avg 30 min at charlotte 40% from 3pt and 82% from FT line this year
***IMAGINE if UF had a functional PG who can hit 3 occassionally and hit 80% of FTs!!!
Lets forget UF signed Cody Larson who wasted a roster spot -- he could have been a Rs Sr this year and been a contributor, forget we should have signed guys like Landry Nnoko at the 5 spot who would have developed or even we passed on Joel James (UNC) who we could have had or even Joel Embiid if we made him a priority early out of Montverde/Gainesville High
I am hoping a long tall class of basically a bunch of 6 9"+ guys like Egbunu (college body Rs Soph), Dickerson (college body already), hayes, Stone and long 6 5" B Francis (Rs frosh) + IF IF DFS comes back and D Robinson finds his 3 pt shot (coaches thought he would shoot 40% from 3 based on how he was playing over summer) and Hill develops just a little more
I see a top 10 type team -- hell this squad was ranked top 10 going into the year....no reason if we cant find 2-3 guys who can shoot 37 - 40% from 3 point line we cant be a legit legit team next year
at a minimum we wont be running 7 guys (incl a walk on) into most games -- we should have a legit roster of 10+ rivals 100 athletes to throw out there... biggest question mark in my mind is PG play and 3 point shooting
