Here are some of the notes that I compiled from the high school football players who visited last weekend:
* Richard Gouraige arrived with his mother, several family members, and what looked like maybe one of his high school coaches. Coach Rumph and Coach Nussmeier both talked to Gouraige before the game on the field.
* 2020 Florida commit Josh Griffis was with his mom and dad for the most part. Luckily for him he has a few more years until he signs because it looks like he will need to put a few more pounds on before he joins the Gators in a couple of years.
* Trey Knox was with his father and a couple of other high school football players before the game. He sat next to Gouraige during the second half of the game and talked with him.
* Arriving a couple of hours before the game, Dameon Pierce spent time on the field in the Swamp talking to Florida’s running back coach Ja’Juan Seider.
Matt Corral was social before the game with some of the 2018 Gator commits, such as Dante Lang and Ja'Marr Chase. He also sat with Pierce and Jacob Copeland throughout the whole game.
* Jacob Copeland’s first sighting was brief as he ended up going into the tunnel of the South Endzone as soon as he arrived. He made it back in time for the beginning of the game. After the game, he was happy with the time that he got to spend with Corral and Pierce.
* Corral, Pierce, Copeland, and other recruits left after Florida’s field goal in the second quarter. The first three mentioned did not return until later in the third quarter.
* Most recruits on hand participated in the “We Are the Boys From Old Florida” tradition, however, neither Trey Knox nor Gouraige joined in.
* During the game: The families of the recruits were very engaged and more into the game than the recruits, for the most part. Toward the end, however, the recruits started to get into the game when the Gators were trying to get the game-winning field goal.
* Former Florida Gator player Lorenzo Spikes, who now works with prep players based out of Tennessee was with Trey Knox before and after the game.
* What stood out most is how social Corral was with some of the other recruits and commits. He is a recruiting magnet because of his talent, but his ability to socialize with other high schoolers is a bonus that has help add to the Gators' recruiting class.
* Brad Cecil, Devon Ellison, and Robby Love spent a lot of time together. They were taking pictures and seemed to enjoy each others' company.
* David Reese was mostly around 2019 prospect Adrian McCray and teammate, defensive tackle Isaiah Byrd before the game. I did not see Reese during or after the game.
* North Carolina commit Bryson Richardson was with his mother the entire time.
* Though he refused to do any interviews when leaving the stadium after the game, Andrew Chatfield seemed to have a good time. He was really into it when the Gators scored to make it 17-16.
* Some recruits were taking videos before the game and enjoying the atmosphere. Other recruits talked to some coaches and seemed to get into some conversations with them.
* I thought Copeland and Pierce had some good chemistry. They seemed to be talking with each other and enjoying each other's company. Both of them, and Corral, were unemotional during the game and didn't really cheer when the Gators scored.
