Viva La Canada

My main complaint about immigration and illegal immigration in particular is that it lowers wages and most immigrants these days are coming from poor countries and have a welfare state and socialist mentality. They vote democrat if they become citizens and their American born children do also.

These Canadians would be the perfect immigrant. They are middle class or better. They reject socialism and the welfare state.

I did business in Windsor, Toronto and Vancouver from 1991 to early 2003. I've been diagnosed with sciatica. July 15 I'll have a steroid injection in the back. With Canada's single pay Medicare for all system, I could very well be forced to the U. S. and pay for the procedure myself. If Canada chose to pay, it could easily be a year wait.

Sorry to hear this.

My dad had stenosis and he had to endure the shots and therapy before they would allow him to have surgery.

The powers that be made him jump through the other hoops before they would sign off on the surgery. In his case he was glad to oblige because he dreaded the surgery.

Surgery was success but he still has intermittent back pain and some leftover neuropathy.

Once he decided to deal with the issue the appointments were timely and the path immediate. Time from decision to surgery was just a few months.

Shots and therapy offered some relief but surgery was inevitable.

Cant imagine what it would have been like in Canada. Just a lot of pain with no relief and a couple of years before surgery.

BTW how is fam and friends that have or had corona doing ?

Sister-in-law had my procedure 14 years ago with success. Medicine man tells me it works sometimes and sometimes not. Pain management must be tried before surgery is considered.

I don't want any part of Canada's single pay Medicare for all rationed system. I've spent time at Blaine, Washington, Detroit and Buffalo U. S. Customs chatting with Canadians heading south to pay for U. S. health care. I have seen U. S. Nationals in Canada filling prescriptions.

A pleasant surprise in the comments section to see that there are many Canadians as well as the UK residents who are actual conservatives who see Justin Trudeau as the prissy soy boy prick he is.
You speak like a child.

Except that the low income immigrants do “essential” work at wages that no American will tolerate. They are in this country by the demand of the big business you champion and by the implicit agreement of the politicians you vote for. All the anti-immigration rhetoric is just claptrap to maintain the support of the unthinking, which of course you provide!

Ha! You don’t have money to move to the YMCA.
We don't have a YMCA, Sir. They went bankrupt from taking on any kid that wanted to join but didn't have any way to afford a membership. They overran the Y and forced the paying members to join other gyms in the area. It's great to take on some children that are unable to afford a membership but you have to take care of the paying members first and foremost.

Bad deal for you then. Maybe the Motel 6?

Listen, Trump morons, I’m asking you... look at your relative station in life, your jobs, your paychecks, your living circumstances, etc... do you think America wants to emulate you, wants to live like you? I know you can’t answer honestly, but understand that’s where the opposition is coming from. I get that Trump has told you that your circumstances are not your fault and that’s why you cling to him, but you can’t expect the rest of us to subsidize you.

LMAO, you are the most miserable person in New Jersey. In freaking New Jersey, haha.

I was looking into Belize as option B. Low population, weak national government. Former Brit colony. English language. Low cost of living ~ $.25 to the dollar. Was featured in International Living as a possible retirement place. Retirement age is 45. Dual citizenship in 5 years.

Last 2 summers I vacationed in Canada. Spent some time in Tobermory on the Bruce Peninsula. Nice, rural. Regular stuff was cheap but tourist stuff very expensive aka shirts etc.

There are campgrounds there. Could see taking my bus2rv conversion up there in the summers. Canada might be plan B with dips over border to reset the time clock . I might make it to Canada before the celebrities :)

Plan A is rural TN in the least populated county (5K total in whole county). Low property tax, Sheriff the only law. No constant speed traps. Little building codes. Lots of cheap woodlands for property. Plan is to go off grid and drop out.

So it partially depends on what I have to file with feds . Will work with my EA to develop tax plan that sees me not needing to file. If individual mandate returns that puts kink in plan. I will carry insurance regardless but mandate requires filing proof. This depends on current tax laws and working the qualified income and long term cap gains while staying under 80K. I believe that I can get my outflow under 3k/mo maybe well below with no mortgage and being off grid and live very comfortably in rural TN.

The sooner I can do this the better. SS is not even in this plan but if it is there in 11 years I will consider it a bonus even if it puts me a little bit on the radar. The goal is as much protection from a rent-seeking government/society as possible.

Imagine this couple but with 20K to 30K worth of solar powering the house like a normal home and no weird clothes LOL.

That sounds horrible.

PS. If you are single, you don’t need to file a tax return if you make less than $12k.

But Trump won. And the chick that was gonna give us everything that's important to you....lost.

America wants to be us. We have better values, better morals, we are more successful, and we are better Americans.

If America wanted to be you, hillary would have won. This isn't that hard.

America wants to be us. That's why our guy won. What America does NOT want is to be like a fattie living in the armpit of the country who thinks he has any claim to look down on people that have better educations, intelligence, wealth, class and morals than he does.

Living in New Jerseystan has rotted your brain, bro. I can't believe you were this dumb of a hayseed when your wife dragged you out of Florida.

obama told us if we wanted 4 more years of me, ya gotta vote for her!

Well we didn't, and we didn't.

Moderates and right center whites voted for obama twice because they bought into the media spin that this is a racist country and they thought voting for obama would improve race relations. How many former obama voters have now come out and say they regret voting for him for those reasons? He actually DIVIDED this country more than any president ever has. It was the plan all along.

There have been multiple surveys that confirmed this, but the American people did NOT approve of obama or his policies. Case in point, when asked about obama's policies, voters approved of them. But when you asked the same voters about the same policies but did NOT mention that they were obama's policies, those same voters disapproved of them.

Who will be impeached first: Trump or obama?

Black Americans voted for Obama in record numbers the first time. Not so much the second. Black Americans showed poorly for Hillary when she ran for Obama's third term.

Eight years of Obama saw black poverty go up and home ownership go down. Black on black crime set records.

The Messiah failed black America.

Exactly...I never voted for Obama but I still called him POTUS (even though he was worse than Jimmy Carter). There is no respect/class/dignity if you lose these days. It goes back to everyone wins a trophy and no scores being kept during games, etc. These people haven't learned how to lose and show good sportsmanship because milquetoast parents hide the truth from their children their whole life. Now, they actually know what losing feels like and it doesn't feel good. When they lose a job they kill people that work there. When they lose a girl they kill her. When they lose elections they destroy the property of people they feel cost them the election. This is so obvious to me but I'm just a psychoanalyst with a Ph.D.

Ah, the good ole days.

Uhm I am not wanting to take a vow of poverty.

LCG are exempt up to 39K next yr 40K per person and I am married and have been for 26 yrs so at least 80K by the time I retire if you socialist./communist/collectivist can be kept out of government. Qualified divis are treated like LCG. Again I will need to have a talk with my Enrolled Agent (EA) to explore my plans. Yes I have many and I need to see which one pays the least in taxes if not zero.

But I think you claim to be conservative and you would vote for a guy and a party that would destroy capitalism and make everyone serfs of the District of Corruption just because you hate Trumpy the @sshat clown.

Well I didn't vote for him last time but I will this time because I need a robust capitalist system to realize my plans for retirement. I had grandparents that lived in public housing and whose only income in retirement was SS. I think I will pass on that.

And if Canada is so bad why do celebs want to move there. Belize has many ex-pats so its a definite destination even though it has a few warts.

Doing modern homesteading with modern conveniences is not bad either. The people in the video are on the more extreme side of the movement. I just want self sufficiency to keep my outflow lower. Why should gas, electric and water consume a chunk of my retirement when I can provide those energy needs myself? Why should I sell one home and turn arund and put the equity back into another home when I can go somewhere with minimal codes and have a cottage decked out with off grid amenities (solar, well, LP wood boiler with radiant heating) and be free and clear of a mortgage.

Food? Well I have gardened in the city for 20 years. Some years better than others. This year already is shaping up to be good . We have already canned some pickles in June. This is on part of 1/4 acre. Imagine what I can do with 10.

Food security in retirement is another way to control outflow. I don't plan on cattle so buying beef is still in the calculus. Ducks and chickens are as about as much hassle as I want to fool with in that regard.

For a guy vacationing in rural NC I don't see whats so horrible about any of it. I plan on retiring to that sort of situation and it being my permanent home base not just a vacation spot.

The Skoolie will be the home on wheels and will allow us to travel for months all around the US and Canada. And once a year we can vacay in our time share. BLM and Crown land offer free camping again outflow. More for me to spend on activities, food and to reinvest.

Not sure what seems awful about any of it.

Belize means this country has failed and yes having to move there would be the result of something awful. Like socialist dems running everything.

Canada would be the result of a partial failure. If you have to live in a socialist country then Canada would be the better of the two. Less population, more rural places beyond the everyday gaze of the mounties.

Heck on vacation I do not recall seeing more than one patrol car. I am sure they were there but I didn't notice. I see many around here every time I go anywhere with radar powered revenue devices in hand.

I am not much into serfdom unless I am the Lord of the Manor :)

Horrible is democrat run anything!
