UF WBK: Gators to End Non-Conference Against Murray State
Florida will look to record their 10th victory of the season on Tuesday afternoon.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Florida women's basketball, fresh off of a victory over in-state rival Florida State, is set to finish non-conference play on Tuesday afternoon when Murray State visits Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center for a 1 p.m. ET tip.
The game will be aired live on SEC Network+ with Kyle Crooks and Brittany Davis on the call. Skyler Lebron and Bree Maxwell will handle radio responsibilities on 98.1FM/850AM WRUF.
During their last outing, the Gators snapped a five-game losing skid to in-state rival, Florida State on Dec. 12. Led by a career-best 16 points from Emanuely de Oliveira, the Gators increased their all-time series lead to 43-35 while the 69-55 victory was the biggest win over Florida State since a 72- 58 win on Nov. 17, 2011. The win over Florida State marked the highest-rated NET victory of the season for UF, as Florida State entered ranked 47th.
Against the Seminoles, Florida recorded a season-low seven turnovers. The seven turnovers marked the lowest number by the Gators since Feb. 5, 2018 when they also recorded seven on the road at No. 15 Missouri.
The victory over FSU also gave Florida their ninth non-conference win of the season. If the Gators defeat Murray State on Tuesday afternoon, it would mark the first time since the 2015-16 season that the Orange & Blue have earned at least 10 wins in the non-conference. The Gators ended with 12 non-conference wins during the 2015-16 campaign.
Junior standout Lavender Briggs is closing in on 1,000 career points in her Florida career. The Provo, Utah native is currently sitting at 942 points, just 58 points away from becoming the 27th member of the club. Briggs is currently 46th in the nation and third in the SEC in field goals made at 67.
Also excelling this season, Kiara Smith's defense has risen to an elite level, sitting at 12th nationally with a total of 32 steals on the year. She is also ranked 40th in the nation in steals per game, averaging 2.67 during each outing.
Defensively as a team, the third quarter has seen the Gators at the top of their game, outscoring opponents 204-146 during the season. Florida has been almost as good heading into halftime, outscoring the opposition 216-166 in the second quarter.
Tuesday afternoon's game with the Racers will mark the first meeting between the programs.
