UF Softball Gets Screwed by NCAA AGAIN!!

Alabama is not good...especially offensively. Auburn's two best pitchers held them to a total of one run in 20 innings a couple of weeks ago. They will have a very difficult time scoring against Florida's pitching unless you help them out with walks, errors, and hit batters

wrong sport, we only do that in baseballs post season

We'll see. I love our Gator softball team, but Alabama has a great coach, experienced & motivated players who will relish the underdog role and 2 great pitchers that can give our hitters fits. We have trouble scoring runs when we don't get walks & HBP. I expect this series to be low scoring and decided by a couple of key plays. I am very nervous.

Alabama finished 1 game over .500 in SEC play and that was without them playing the first place team in Florida or the 4th place team in Texas A&M. They also went a combined 1-4 against the second place team in Auburn and the third place team in Tennessee.

Nobody will get a complete cupcake opponent in the super regionals, but Florida should win this series unless they basically beat themselves

I'm simply pointing out the gross injustice the NCAA did to Minnesota, first of all. .

The #1 Ranked team in the Nation, Big-Ten/12 Minnesota comes into the NCAA Tourney sniveling about not being a Regional Host. Then they play the SEC's 16 Seed team and get run outta town with consecutive shutouts while only getting a total of 7 hits vs Bama's 1.22 and 1.28 ERA pitchers. Tooooo funny. :D

I wonder what they would have done if they'd had to face Barnhill's 0.35 ERA, or Gourley's 0.71 ERA. o_O

BTW, 'on paper,' our Gators are better than Bama in every single category, right across the board.

The problem with that is that they play the games 'on the field' instead of on the paper....

GooooooooooooooooooGATORS!

Are you watching the game? Bama's pitching staff is almost as good as ours and we've struggled at times this year getting clutch hits. As dominant as Barnhill is at this point (10 strikeouts after 4 innings), we don't hit great pitching very well either. This series is going to be a nail biter.

Bama may not be statistically good on paper, but they are well coached, poised and experienced. And they play smart, like 4 straight bunts in the 5th inning against a dominant pitcher who hasn't yet learned how to field her position. All of a sudden they're up 3-0 and our offense has shown no signs of being able to score 3 runs on their excellent pitcher.

I haven't watched the game, but I noticed bama scored 3 runs in an inning where they had zero hits. Those runs came largely because of walks and errors. The only way I said bama could score

Yeah but we could have played 20 innings and our team would not have scored IMO. Bama saw a weakness on our team with the pitcher's inability to field her position. They executed 4 straight bunts right at her. That's smart softball. We had runners on throughout the game and couldn't execute a bunt or get key hits. They were the better team tonight. And your earlier comment in this thread that Bama is not a good team is way wrong. They struggled some in the SEC, but they are an excellent team and they proved it tonight. If they are not a good team, what are we?

Osorio is a good pitcher. I will admit that. Florida will probably see her again in the 3rd game if the series makes it that far. Their 2nd pitcher can be good at times, but she is not as consistently good as Osorio. Auburn scored 6 or 7 runs off her in 9 or 10 innings. I still think bama struggles to score without Florida helping them

Watching ole miss-ucla game announcers said 82% of teams that win first game advance to the college World Series hope we're part of that remaining 18% gonna be tough

Ole Miss is a team with a lot of heart. Their pitcher has thrown every inning of the post season and has not struck out a UCLA batter tonight. But she's smart, crafty and full of enthusiasm. And her team has her back. I love that.

As well as she pitched tonight we may see her for Game 2. Bama has struggled to score all year and of course without the walks and errors they probably wouldn't have scored in the 5th inning tonight. But when were we going to score against Osorio? You can't win a game zero to minus 1. They scouted a weakness in the Gators, executed perfectly and took advantage. We didn't. They win. And as for Auburn getting runs off Littlejohn, Auburn's offense is way better than ours.

I can promise its not hard to adjust to Bamas pitcher yesterday. Her biggest throw was right off the edge of the outside plate. All UF had to do was crowd the home plate a little better but they didn't adjust whatsoever the whole game. Step about 2-3 inches closer to the plate Florida would had some hits over the fence. I don't know what Coach Walton is thinking IMHO. They've adjusted in the past but did nothing yesterday.

To me they take too many pitches and hardly, if ever, look for and swing at a change-up. Many, many times pitchers will throw a change-up right down the middle and we just stand there and watch it. Why not look for that every once in a while and knock the crap out of it? We'll see how much fight and determination they come out with tonight. Alabama is playing with house money and all the pressure is on us.

I'd always rather see them go down swinging aggressively than to see them go down standing there with their thumbs up their _____, and looking dumb while they do it.

Totally, completely, absolutely agree Insta.

we hold them off next inning and finish this one out I think we still in good shape, much better chance of us shutting them down twice then them us.... but you never know with our lineups, they are soooo up and down in both sports... Never thought I'd be saying the baseball team looks stronger set up for the post season at this point right now, but we look pretty good even with the unbelievable bad luck string of injuries we are building up by the day now... That 8th inning today looked like a team that didn't panic and trusted themselves and the way they play rather than what they've done in the past. Tied the all time record in the SEC Tournament with runs that inning from all the guys being patient and trusting their eyes with the bats.. that shit was impressive i can't even lie

3 more outs for Softball, and bama has gotten so lucky with not being down at least 1-2 more runs, at the plate throw and last inning is rather fortunate... as im typing this the bitch just hit off the pitchers glove DIRECTLY to the 3b for the out anyway lmao, teams always give us their best don't they...

Nice, gutty win for the lady Gators. Gourley is a poised battler. We just need to get one or two more girls who are locked in at the plate like Lorenz. Bama struggles at the plate as bad as we do, but Osorio scares me. When she's gotten in trouble during the season is when she loses her control. She has a ton of walks, but also more K's than Barnhill. I'm still very nervous about tomorrow's game. Will be interesting to see who the Coach starts on the mound. Wouldn't surprise me if it's Gourley again.

We should be able to shut them down again and just get something offensively with one or two swings, only got one tonight and it was more than enough to double them up... Zero excuse to blow it again like last year to a 16 seed, even though we always get f'ed with the perfect made pitching matchups to beat us even as the one seed, if it were the other way around no WAY IN HELL would bama be going up against our ass as the 16... not a chance

Agree. Bama is better than a #16 seed. They got jobbed by having to play Minnesota in their Regional. Minnesota got screwed even worse, being ranked #1 in the country in the last coaches poll with a #11 RPI and then not even getting to host. But UF NEVER gets the draw matchup a #1 seed usually gets. Wait until the baseball pairing get announced on Sunday. Florida will be a #4 or 5 seed and they will probably send Miami and/or FSU to Gainesville for the Regional. But with all of that, just win today girls.

yet again already letting these bitches on base from doing nothing and advancing into scoring position already without even swinging a damn bat...

then just hits another batter, this girl is too chokey for me to deal with in a game this big... these bitches can't hit at all and you are doing the only thing you possibly can to help them, AGAIN... How do we always play our worst in every sport against Bama and Auburn no matter what?

we needed their bullshit luck with the hit batter with bases loaded to score, that's what they get back for all their lucky nonsense the last two games...

2-0 in the first already with the bases still loaded, too bad none of these girls can swing the bat in this part of the lineup to really blow it open immediately... They swing out of their ass too often...

Whew!! Gutsy performace by Barnhill. Still can't believe how passive we are at the plate. Never make adjustments to the pitcher or the ump's strike zone. But CWS here we come. Maybe the freshmen can get going and make us dangerous.

Lol, I stay away from the boards when watching games.

Nobody suffers winning like Gator fans.. even watching softball.

We won WCWS bound. We did what it took to beat a scrappy team.

I would like to see this broken out. I am going to guess the home team wins the first game moire often than not and is able to close it out. I'll bet when the home team loses the first game, the home team is able to win out more often than 18%. For example our coach is now 3-3 in those situations.

Big Deal on beating the barners....

UF 2-1 AU during the season, and it took the blind 1st base Ref and the cross-eyed home plate Ump to get AU their 1-0 win in game 3 to prevent a UF sweep of them. o_O
---------------

16 Seed Alabama sent #1 ranked Minnesota home going 2-0 against them in the Regional.

Florida sent OklaSt home going 2-1 against them.
UF 2-0 OkSt - UF 0-1 OkSt - UF 5-0 OkSt -- UF 7-1 OkSt

1 Seed Florida then sent Alabama home going 2-1 against them in the Super Regional.
UF 0-3 UA - UF 2-0 UA - UF 2-1 UA -- UF 4-4 UA
(UF & UA have won 3 of the last 5 WCWS)

Next Florida will have to play either Tenn or aTm in the WCWS.
Mostly SEC teams sending each other home from the Regionals.
The NCAA Tourney really is the SEC Invitational....

Season Stat Averages:
