Gator baseball (7-2) hosts a 3-game series with the Columbia University Lions starting tonight at 6:30. Columbia won 3 straight Ivy League championship (2013-2015) before having an off year in 2016, finishing 17-24. This series with the Gators will be their first games of the season. Faedo, Singer & Kowar are the Gator starting pitchers and all games are televised on SEC+. The Gators' team batting average is .251 and the ERA of the pitching staff is 2.95. The UF softball team, 17-1, is in the middle of a 5-game tournament in Fullerton, California, beating Iowa 8-0 and Long Beach St. 17-0 on Thursday, both in 5 innings, behind a perfect game from Delanie Gourley and a 1-hitter from Kelly Barnhill. Today they play the California Bears (13-1) at 5:30 EST and the UCLA Bruins (14-3) at 10:30 EST, then finish up against the Northwestern Wildcats (3-10) at 3 EST on Saturday. Games can only be heard on various radio stations unless you pay a fee to watch on a West Coast TV network. UF's team batting average is .320 and the ERA of the pitching staff is an incredible 0.53. Go Gators!!

Gator softball just beat Cal 4-0, with Kvistad & DeWitt hitting home runs and Ocasio & Barnhill combining on a 3-hitter. UF pitchers now have 9 shutouts in their last 10 games and play #7 UCLA in a little while. Baseball took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st on a Langworthy HR.

Gators up on Columbia 7-0. Multiple Gators with multiple hits, which is good to see,

Faedo leaves the game after 7 complete innings. He left with a 7-0 score and only threw 79 pitches.

does anyone have a stream somewhere because it's not on ESPN watch...

UF softball ran their record to 19-1 by scoring 4 in the 1st and 4 in the 2nd and coasting to a 9-4 win over UCLA. Gourley had 11 K's and threw a complete game. They played their best all around ball of the year today in beating Cal & UCLA convincingly.

the softball game wasn't, i saw the baseball game..
I think I said in my original post that the only way to watch Gator softball this weekend was to go to a pay service on the West Coast. No pre-SEC gator softball games are being televised on the SEC Network, WatchESPN, SEC+, nor any of the ESPN channels. Don't understand why because other SEC teams have had games on SEC+, but that's the way it is.

Too long, DNR.... ;)

(jus-kiddin') :D

Gator's are now 4-0 vs Top 25 teams.

Softball team finished up their 5-0 trip to the West coast by beating Northwestern 7-4. Barnhill struck out 11 in 5 innings, but 2 errors contributed to 3 unearned runs for the Wildcats. Gators are now 20-1 as they head into the SEC schedule for a 3-game series against Missouri, Sat., Sun., Mon. The first 2 games a reon ESPNU, the 3rd game on SEC Network (not +). Bats seem to be coming alive and that redshirt freshman SS Reynoso has been on a hitting tear, plus she's played error-free ball so far. Baseball team is up 6-2 on Columbia in the 8th inning. J J Schwarz started a 4-run, 2 out rally to break open a 2-2 game in the bottom of the 7th by hitting a line drive off the pitcher's face. Not sure how serious. He walked off the field and out of the park, but was bleeding a lot. Reliever gave up 3 more runs. Singer was not quite on today, but looks like the guys are going to pick up another win.

Baseball team finished off a sweep of Columbia by winning today 8-4. Columbia's pitchers walked 12, hit 2 and had 3 wild pitches. We only had 7 hits, but are 10-2. We are near the bottom of the SEC in every offensive stat, but at or near the top in every pitching and defensive stat. Got 2 midweek games against Florida Gulf Coast, then a weekend series against Seton Hall before playing FSU and getting into the SEC. Lot of potential for this year's team.

never heard that before

they gave us like 13 walks a wild pitch for a run

i was being sarcastic because we are dead last in something every year on offense in something

Only 1 team each year/season can win a National Championship.

So I have learned to enjoy their efforts and the individual games where the Gator student/athletes shine. Winning is good, but it's not everything in life, so I try for some perspective as the various season go by.

IMO, the Gators have the best and most competitive All Sports Athletic Program in the Nation, and so I can easily live with that.... :)
Winning NC's is just the icing on an otherwise very sweet sports cake.
