The verdict said that he did something but there wasn't enough evidence to say that it was rape. It's not that difficult to understand.

She said he violently raped her in the dressing room of a crowded dept store, and left without anyone noticing. There were no witnesses. There is no evidence.
The jury didn't believe her.
But TDS so they decided he had to be guilty of something.

I am not convinced of anything. I am just stating what the jury found him liable of.
It also isn't that confusing. The jury is told what each charge is and what evidence is needed to convict of that charge. The jury decided that they believed something happened but there wasn't enough evidence to say it was rape. Just finding someone guilty of manslaughter or 1st degree murder.

Your example shows how ignorant you are here...first, a person is dead in that example. This is a civil suit, so the threshold is much lower than that of a criminal trial (preponderance of evidence vs beyond a reasonable doubt). The lowering or raising of a charge is based on intent and circumstances. But the actual death of a human is the starting point.
Here she claimed she was violently raped and the jury only found him liable of battery. So they didn't believe her, but they didn't like him enough to let him off...essentially inventing a new crime so they could find him liable for something.
And the "evidence" was laughable. It was literally a he said/she said. Trump said he'd never met the woman, and there's no proof that he had.
This was a political hit job wrapped up into a money grab, and it'll die on appeal. But that doesn't matter, the NYT's got their headline and liberals like yourself got your talking point.
