Todd Golden of San Fran

Golden is going to bring the same defensive-type of philosophy to the team Mike White did. I don't know about this choice. Murray State's guy Matt McMahon has the more up-tempo, Billy Donovan-type of style we really need to beat the upper echelon of CBB. I'd rather us go after him when the Racers' season ends.

Man, we love us some high school looking kids to coach hoops. If we’re going to hire someone off one good year, why not shaheen Holloway? Hoping for the best but a pretty underwhelming hire.

He also worked under the sweaty Pearl at AU so he must have learned something.

Quotes
"This hire shows Scott Stricklin’s desire to get to a modern approach to basketball. Whether it was scheme, data usage, or analytical concepts, Florida’s previous staff was well behind the curve. Now, the Gators will be on the cutting edge, and that’s something that Florida fans should be ecstatic about. "

"When it comes to the transfer portal, Golden is going to use data and advanced statistics to find who fits his system perfectly and who will help him compete right away in the SEC."

A 51-36 career record.

I am so in the least little bit hyped. Scott Stricklin is turning us into the new UT. Hell more like MSU 2.0.

Maybe it will work but not looking like bright.

Todd Golden's Record coaching at Mighty San Francisco, 57-36 (.613) and is 23-22 (.511) in the power-house West Coast Conference.
~ He's replacing an incompetent Mike White that went 142-88 (.617) playing in the SEC.

San Fran made their 1st NCAA since 1998 as a 10 seed, and then went 1 & Done to Murray St. Todd played his college ball at St. Mary's, but at least he's a probation-Pearl protege....

He left Pearl in 2017 to become an assistant on San Francisco's staff under then-coach Kyle Smith. Golden learned under noted analytic maestro Kyle Smith, who is now the coach at WashSt. Smith left S.F. to become the head coach at Washington State in 2019, and the Dons promoted Golden following his departure. (so he won with Smith's players)

So yep, he looks like a fo-sho 'sure thing' to me, so let's guu-goaters.....

I guess they decided that he would be a way better hire than Rick Pit-teen-NO....

Dooley does happen to be a Mike White nut swinger.
While the gatordud will know all about and track the 'nutt swingers' of the world.

I wouldn't know, I haven't bothered to get a mullet wrapper or read Fat Drooley's drivel in years. And since I don't fish for mullet, I have no reason to ever get a wrapper...

How? Thought we just hired Saban 2.0 as our football coach???

"I heard of Todd Golden before...", said no one on here
I watched the San Francisco/Murray State OT basketball game last night, very interested in the Murray State coach. I saw the USF coach and heard his name, but didn't pay much attention. And that was the first time I've ever heard his name.

This hire....regardless who it is.....seems rushed. Uf still has MW's cologne lingering in the air in the HC's office, so to speak.

Feels like a job consideration and interview at Taco Bell probably took longer.

I made mention of Matt McMahon earlier in the thread. His style is more like what Donovan's was. I mean heck, he recruited Ja Morant. That should tell you something about him.

How many people on this this board actually had ever heard of Todd Golden until 4 hours ago?
Be honest.
I did. I was watching the USF vs Murray St game because I was interested in Golden and McMahon as coaches. With that being said I was more interested in McMahon than Golden. It is a boom or bust type of hire.
Unfortunately this is about the type of hire you can expect when the previous coach (White) destroyed everything Billy built. Now I wasn’t expecting Billy D results but White has been very average to mediocre. This needed to be done and IMO it was about 2 years too late. We basically just finished 9th in the SEC and haven’t really competed for an SEC title in quite awhile.

You just read the same article I did where the guy said we should’ve hired the Murray St. coach right? Or you saw his team play ONE GAME last night right? COME ON MAN!!

"Todd brings a smart and analytics-driven approach to the game."
Golden also took a lead role in analytical and metrics data.

So we're all going to love this guy because he's a 'stats' based kind of guy..... 😉 - 😁

So we still want to keep White who just finished 9th in an overrated SEC that already only has 3 teams left in the big dance? LOL.
Yeah I agree. All year long we've been hearing how much tougher the SEC is now compared to when Billy was here. And yet how many SEC teams have made it to the Final 4 or even Elite 8 in the last 7 years? Very few. And this year is not looking good at al. KY, LSU & Bama all taken out in Round 1 by lower seeds. The Big 10, Big 12 and even the ACC are still and pretty much always have been better basketball conferences.

He was????

So, Mike sucked in a Conf that also sucked, and what many believe is maybe the best coach in the SEC just did something that Mike never did, ONE & DONE...

I guess it's no wonder that Mike finally bailed on this losers program and it's always entitled fans, right?
ROTF LMFAO...
😂 🤣 😂

These losers are so wrapped up in long gone Mike, that he'll still be in their heads 10 years from now. They seem to have acquired WDS,,,, White Derangement Syndrome and they can't seem to get over it,,, or themselves. 😉

I did consider it Sad, but it was just too easy (ducks in a barrel), so I reluctantly let it go,,, then you had to open that door, so shame on you....

Well, we will judge him on results of games compared to length of hire......just like always.

But for you not to be a hypocrite, by choosing to judge by results, should be his BFF right now.
