Nebraska's QB is off target and gave up a fumble for a TD so far against Illinois. I just don't see any way Frost has a good enough record to survive if they lose this game.

Same goes for Kelly probably at UCLA if somehow Hawaii upset them later today.

I doubt they’ll be gone today. For one thing Nebraska has looked rusty but they still seemed like they were outplaying Illinois but made a couple bad penalties and TOs. If they go on and lose badly then yeah I think his seat is pretty warm, but I’d think he’d get most of this season to turn it around. He’s a local hero so he’ll get every chance to prove himself.

I think the consensus is that Kelly has shown some improvement so he might have a little rope, but a bad loss to Hawaii and I think you’re right, he’ll be on the hot seat too. I kind of expect frost to be on the hot seat at the end of the year and Kelly to have a little more security

Yep neither would be fired until late in the season probably. About ready to declare Frost finished at this point.

Bielema is a really good coach who was out of his element at Arkansas. He'll have Illinois where he had Wisconsin several years ago - A physical team that is fundamentally sound and will win a lot of games. But because Frost is a Nebraska legacy I think he gets more leeway than most coaches will nowadays at other schools. But, he's been a major disappointment after how successful he was as an OC at Oregon and then HC at UCF. Will be interesting to see how much patience the Cornhuskers fans and administration have in giving him time to succeed. This is his 4th year and he should have all his players in place now and so there won't be many more excuses to be made.

Nebraska just doesn’t get the talent anymore.

Part of the issue but still should be better than they are with what the recruiting rankings say. Not sure why Frost has failed so badly here after getting UCF to play that good. I never expected them to get near OSU etc. with how recruits look at Nebraska now but this is a big surprise.

This will be Nebraska’s 5th consecutive losing season. Frost flamed out long ago. Cornf**k country is nothing but a wasteland.

Yesterday was the first time Nebraska has lost in August.
It was the first time they drop consecutive season openers in 43 years.
It was the first time they drop consecutive games to Illinois in 90 years (although they didn’t play on a yearly basis that whole time).

Frosty just keeps setting a new bottom in cornf**k country.

Even if he salvaged a 7-5 record I think he is done.

Part of the Frost success was getting Florida kids while playing teams that couldn't get elite talent. Granted the Florida kids also weren't the top tier but this state has great depth of talent, so he could have a solid core of players his opponents couldn't match.

It's a lot easier to coach when you have the better roster 11 games out of 12 each year.

Decided to look at his results compared to the talent indexes of each team for that year and he has been a train wreck using those numbers.

He is 1-4 against higher talent index teams and a terrible 11-17 against lower talent index teams. His recruiting has kept their talent index at about the same as when he took over.

I think 7-5 will buy him another year but man, I think if he gets a 5th year he'll need to be in the 10 win area, and I don't see that happening.

It could’ve been us.

Unlike Kelly looking at it now I think Frost would have done good here I think. Hard to explain Nebraska as its the exact opposite on offense as UCF was. UCF was a well oiled machine for their talent level while Nebraska has been a mess there.

Kelly appeared to have not cared much but he does have their offense finally rolling some starting last season but I still don't see them winning the PAC 12 anytime soon.

Nebraska is suffering from karma for screwing over Frank Solich.

Nebraska is located in an area that would take a miracle to be a powerhouse like they once were. However Nebraska can be competitive, if Iowa, Wisconsin, Kansas State, Iowa State, Boise State and Oklahoma State can be competitive Nebraska could be.

Yep they actually seem to hang around # 25 or so in recruiting most years which beats out the other teams in the Big 10 except for OSU, Michigan and Penn State.

They were sick of Bo Pellini who went something like 9-4 every single year
Always thought his name sounded like some Italian clown.

If you have ever been to Nebraska. Why would any 18 year old kid want to go there. In the past it was identity.
