This is not Miss State so why won't Dan Mullen stop recruiting academic in-eligables

Fine I'll admit it. I just don't want to win that way. The last time we were contending for a National Championship we had a murderer and several thieves on our roster. Id rather suffer thru another decade of mediocre football.

I am not about JUST WIN BABY. This ain't Miami.

I will take 06 and 08 again in a heartbeat. We cant control what a player does later.

Alabama is at the point they don't need to buy players. Nick Saban and the National Championship train basically does all the recruiting that Alabama needs. That has worked for nearly a good decade now. That is until you get teams like Georgia and Clempson who ARE desperate enough that they will throw millions of $$$ around at the recruits desperately trying to close the talent gap and win a championship.

Sadly if the NCAA is refusing to do anything about the obvious situation that's going down here, then the only thing left for other teams is to start competing the same way or just give up any hopes of ever being competitive again. Texas A&M was correct, although possibly Jimbo Fisher wasn't the correct guy for the task, but the idea that money is not an object and no amount of money paid is too much to get that national championship. To hell with the NCAA rules is basically what everyone is thinking these days. California is trying to pass laws so it's schools can hire professional players and pit them against every other state's amateur college athletes and that state doesn't give a flip about the NCAA or the constitutionality of what it is trying to do.

We either admit that paying 100,000$ for a 4* athlete and 200,000$ for a 5* athlete is actually WORKING for Georgia or we just give up any hope of ever winning the SEC at this rate. Sooner or later, Georgia will find a real head coach and will be in the same place that Alabama is, you no longer need to pay the recruits to get the talent in, the coaching and winning record will do that all by itself.
NCAA is a complete joke....has been over the last 10 years. There is to much money in the game these days.

Says every pride-less loser with no moral character.

There is a 'Gator Standard' and a 'Florida Brand' to be considered and looked out for. o_O

You need to drop the Gators and become just an NFL fan....

OK then don't ever throw those titles in other teams faces since they are so tainted. Get rid of anything that pertains to those years etc.

I am not suggesting the questionable character types. Short of Miami or perhaps a desperate FSU, I don't know of any program that embraces garbage human beings so long as they are bringing in the wins for their teams. Nobody wants to see those kinds of players here.

As far as the money goes. I firmly do believe that there really is no punishment anymore for paying these recruits. The NCAA is either completely toothless in what it can do about that, or just no longer cares for the majority of programs. They seem to only focus on academic cheating scandals in this past decade and give slaps on the wrists to other programs. Please the whole Hugh Freeze episode at Ole Miss??? Program never had a 5* player in it's entire program history and this guy comes in and he's getting 1 or 2 in each and every class miraculously? Everyone knew what was up there and it still took them 4 or 5 years to get off their butts and do something.

There was the newspaper article 2 years ago that my brother in Georgia sent to me that was discussing the PECAN PAYROLL that Kirby Smart had put into place to lure in the recruits via nice cash incentives. What they are doing there is ABSOLUTELY public knowledge and has been since Kirby practically arrived on campus.

You want to win with altar boys, go root for Notre Dame even though they now have criminals annually on their roster as well. You want to win without cheating in any way? Welcome to division 3 football. All I'm saying is it's time to face the reality that by the rules or not, or eve if it's legal or not, the teams who are paying their players are succeeding where they haven't before and they aren't being held accountable for it. How many years must pass seeing Clempson, Alabama, Jortgia, LSU, and Ohio State in the top 5 in the polls each and every week before everyone gets sick and damn tired of it?

Do you think it's even remotely acceptable that for the past 5 years, the #1 player in the state of Florida is not even considering a Florida school? The current guy has Miami on his list but it is more of a token gesture from what I've been told. Why does this bother nobody else that these cheater teams are coming into our state and stealing the best players from our state? I would rather them be at Miami or FSU than go out of state to these crap programs.

I went to UF on a National Merit Scholarship. I got more money than a football player and none of the restrictions.

Maybe its time we took away some of those restrictions so if we end up paying players its above board. At bare minimum they should get paid for stuff like jerseys and video games.

All the top schools recruit the same damn players, get off the high horse. And yes many schools are paying and plenty of people would be shocked at the amounts. There's no school recruiting at a high level that's clean.

sCam Newton's Father -- "This (2nd) time around we won't be signing for nothing." o_O

That seems to imply that UF didn't pay him and Auburn did...

Because he can then claim he got a 9th ranked top 10 recruiting class instead of a 17th ranked class that actually made it to camp. Though I don't think he has that good of recruiters on staff some of this is due to Foley and his not getting into an arms race mentality. It made me sick to read that ESPN article about Georgia with Foley pulling what he did. Not sure it will be fixed fast enough to save Mullen or not.

And where do jefferson, Grimes, Schueller and Greenard fit in those rankings? Oh they don’t. Yet all are key contributors. STFU
