I still can't count the times I heard Mark Levin say, "the Senate's stupidest." Any questions?

And maybe someone should point out to Brandon and this sheep,,, that the U.S. makes up only 4.5% of the Global Population, so even if we went to ZERO emissions, it would only amount to a drop in the Global bucket.... 🤓

When will Brandon's idiotic executive orders be followed in India and China???

Shuttles are powered by Hydrogen. Holy shit
The Space Shuttle external tank (ET) was the component of the Space Shuttle launch vehicle that contained the liquid hydrogen fuel and liquid oxygen oxidizer.

The solid rocket boosters
fuel is made from powdered aluminium and an oxidiser made of ammonium perchlorate.

=====

One of the Soviet Solid Rocket Fuels was called Devil's Venom - hypergolic UDMH-nitric acid - which is used in rocketry despite the fact that it is an extremely corrosive, extremely toxic and extremely effective binary fuel, that produces poisonous gas when burned. The fuel's nitric acid component was so corrosive it could not be in the fuel lines for more than two days without seriously damaging the R-16 rocket.

=====

When SpaceX started developing their Falcon rocket, rocket grade kerosene (RP-1) was the best choice for rocket fuel.
However, later they made the Raptor engine, which uses Methane (CH4).

And both also need an oxidizer.

liquid hydrogen
Today, liquid hydrogen is the signature fuel of the American space program and is used by other countries in the business of launching satellites. In addition to the Atlas, Boeing's Delta III and Delta IV now have liquid-oxygen/liquid-hydrogen upper stages.Oct 20, 2015

Is he gonna kill the O&G industry and get us all on hydrogen?

Right now it is cold and raining here. I want 75 and sunny.

Since man-made climate change is a hoax, I can do nothing to change the climate here. Dammit.

At an air show at TSTC a couple years ago, I learned the oceans of JP-4 I loaded on B-52 and KC-135 tankers is no more. Diesel fuel is the replacement. Engines are much bigger on the KC-135 I boarded. Water-assist take off is no longer used.

Someone said, "like taking off in a jet." I've never been catapulted off a carrier. Regular jet take-off is no big deal.

Hydrogen is the preferred fuel for rocket propulsion. And it’s more abundant than 0 and G. And we can be energy independent of other foreign countries.

And it costs more than gas. And it's more dangerous to the environment.

When hydrogen (or any fuel source) is cheaper and safer than gas, then there will be a market instantly for it.

Till then...

I agree, it costs more than gas.

Hydrogen is more dangerous than petroleum? Not a chance.

Might want to educate yourself on what happens to those batteries when the hydrogen powered car outlives its usefulness. Ecological disaster.

Again, when any fuel source comes along that's cheaper and safer than gas, there will instantly be a market for it.

Are you 10 years old, of just another ignorant/uninformed GREEN colored sheep? (rhetorical)

Hydrogen Cars Have 4× Annual Fuel Cost & 2–70× The Carbon Debt As Electric Vehicles. It’s much, much better to decarbonize the grid and put that electricity into cars than into hydrogen.

The two prime dangers from fuel cell and hydrogen-powered vehicles are the danger of electrical shock and the flammability of the fuel, and is stored in fuel tanks pressurized up to 10,000 psi.

Another problem with hydrogen cars is that apart from the high purchase prices, also the prices of hydrogen fuels are much higher than those of conventional fuels like gas.

At present, 1 lb of hydrogen costs around $14.00 in the U.S. An FCEV can drive about 28 miles on 1 lb of hydrogen. A gal of gas in my SUV gets 33 miles and even at Brandon's prices, about $4.00.

As to the hydrogen alternative, Lithium battery powered cars:

LG. The Korean giant is the No. 1 lithium ion battery manufacturer by capacity globally. The company is making strong inroads in lithium battery manufacturing and is setting up large manufacturing capacities worldwide.

China's CATL is the second largest battery manufacturer in the world and ranks number 1 battery manufacturer in China. The company plans to open mega factories in the future to support increasing global demand. BYD Co. is another leading battery company in China.

Japan's Panasonic is the fourth largest lithium battery company globally.

And India plans to expand its footprint in the lithium battery technology as well.

As for U.S. manufacture of lithium batteries. -- Li-ion batteries are made of materials such as cobalt, graphite and lithium which are considered critical minerals. Critical minerals are raw materials that are economically and strategically important to the U.S., have a high risk of their supply being disrupted and for which there are no easy substitutes.

But at least the U.S. will no longer be dependent on foreign oil, like we weren't dependent on foreign oil under Trump.... 🤓

Time at the pump compared to Petro - Lithium batteries can charge maximum within 2 to 4 hours.

I checked, and there is only 1 charging station within 10 miles of me...

Protection against high temperature – Care is to be taken when charging lithium-ion batteries as they are sensitive to high temperatures. They require protection from being overcharged and discharged too far. Excessive heat causes faster degradation of these batteries.

Lithium batteries can even explode when overcharged/ overheated. Hence many airlines put a limit on the number of batteries a passenger can carry. When shipped in larger quantities, transportation by water is advisable.

Pollution and Disposal

It is estimated that between 2021 and 2030, about 12.85 million tons of EV lithium ion batteries will go offline worldwide, and over 10 million tons of lithium, cobalt, nickel and manganese will be mined for new batteries. China is being pushed to increase battery recycling.

Handling precautions: Place each battery or device containing a battery in a separate plastic bag. Place non-conductive tape (e.g., electrical tape) over the battery’s terminals. If the Li-ion battery becomes damaged, contact the battery or device manufacturer for specific handling information. Even used batteries can have enough energy to injure or start fires.

Lithium batteries are hazardous materials
and are subject to the DOT Department of Transportation’s Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR; 49 CFR Parts 171–180). This includes packaging and standard hazard communication requirements (e.g., markings, labels, shipping papers, emergency response information) and hazmat employee training requirements. Hazard communication requirements are found in part 172 of the HMR and requirements specific to lithium batteries are found in 49 CFR section 173.185.

We got rid of our King in 1776, and now this one's parade has not just been rained on, but has been totally washed out..

#Didyouknow that there are different types of hydrogen? We are committed to #GreenHydrogen, a clean, sustainable alternative fuel with a 0% pollution index. Obtained by electrolysis of water 💧, it is the cleanest hydrogen in the 🌎 acciona.com/green-hydrogen…

Green H is zero emission. While, currently expensive, it’s expected to drop 60% by 2024, and at that price it would be a 30-45 dollar fill up for cars and trucks

Germany Weighs Norway Hydrogen Pipeline to Avoid Russian Energy
ByStephan Kahl+Follow
March 16, 2022, 3:11 PM CDT
Germany and Norway are considering building a hydrogen pipeline linking the two nations to reduce Europe’s dependence on Russian energy supplies.

The countries plan to soon conduct a feasibility study on the project that would eventually transport green hydrogen from Norway to Germany, they said late Wednesday after a meeting between German Economy Minister Robert Habeck and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store.

The more hydrogen is produced, the cheaper it will be
It will still be more dangerous and expensive than gas and gas-powered vehicles. There will never be a mainstream market for hydrogen powered vehicles unless that changes.

That's just business 101. I have no idea why warmists are determined to prop up 'green' technologies that aren't ready to go to market. It's the same thing with solar panels. Give them another 20-30 years, let the technology mature, and maybe they will one day be a feasible option to electricity.

I just wonder what happens to a 10,000 PSI hydrogen tank car gets in a wreck??? And they thought having a steam powered car was dangerous....
Think Hindenburg?
😲

I don't want to be anywhere freakin' near that car, much less IN that car....
