Chris Mullins has been hired as the new head basketball coach at St. Johns - despite never coaching a game at any level of the sport.
It's happened a couple of times in the NBA, but I don't remember a former player being hired in college as the head coach when he had no previous coaching experience whatsoever. Not even Jr. High.
