Not only do I think Putin is Christian, I think he actually views himself as God’s chosen vehicle to push back against western liberal decadence and defend traditional values as interpreted by the Russian Orthodox Church.

Look. I know people who know people in Russia and no one is happy with Putin. He is a despot. The Russian people are not that different than we are, In 5 years, Putin will be either dead or a has been. Most people there don't give a damn about endless wars and imperialism. In that regard they are like our own libertarians, Ukraine is an oligarchy much like Russia is, only with less firepower. There are millions of Russians in the Baltic states and Putin has in his crazed mind, all of those states need to be reunited with mother Russia. Some of those states citizens believe the same thing. This is a civil war and nothing else. "NOT OUR FIGHT!"
The moral thing to do would be to aid in stopping the practice, not running from it.
That’s twice you’ve stated that at least we aren’t sending “our troops”. There’s no way in hell I would tell my kids to fight in another war that is only staged to eventually lose. We haven’t won an outright war since WW2 and slaughtering our sons should only be mandatory for the politicians in love with making the industrial war machine rich. We disagree. And Putin certainly wouldn't be the first POS to commit such violence in the name of religion.
You cannot square the evil acts of someone like Putin with faith in a loving God. Yes, I recognize that many people throughout human history have claimed that this is what they were doing...but they weren't. It's not possible.

I’m not attacking Christianity or suggesting that Putin is a good representation of Christian ideals. But I do think he sincerely believes himself to be a Christian and regards himself as a defender of the faith.
I guess if I believed all the conspiracy stuff you believe, I might see things differently, but I think it’s simply about what is best for the USA. Russia forcibly retaking the Eastern Bloc up to the Curzon Line would not be good.
I said it twice because it’s important. I wouldn’t support sending our troops into the conflict.
Believing that this administration is doing what it feels is best for the USA is the far bigger conspiracy theory at this point.

The US government has always been corrupt.
It's not about being bad. We're all bad. That isn't the point at all.
The actions that Putin has taken, the people he has murdered and the thousands that he has had murdered, this behavior is incompatible with Christ and Christianity. You cannot do these things while simultaneously claiming that you are a Christian.
You could do these things, realize the wrong, atone for your sins while begging Him for forgiveness and then become a Christian. But you cannot juggle the two. As I said, the behavior is incompatible with Christianity.
It doesn't really matter if he believes this.
And as a Christian, the fruit he bears is absolutely obvious to me. He is evil.
We can have this same conversation about Zelensky btw. He's just a far less capable evil man imo. But he's striving for more capability.

Two things can be true.
We're edging closer and closer to that reality. This us a dangerous game we're playing.
Ask yourself, "what is the upside?" What does it cost us and what do we get?
I want Putin in a box. If not a literal one then a figurative one will suffice. Do I want to empower a Zelensky or a country like Ukraine to get that done? No, I don't.

It's our duty to stop it. Why leave? That's the mindset of these illegal immigrants overrunning our country. Defend the homeland, not slither away.
This has more or less been my point all along. The left is trying to frame this as if Putin is the evil villain, and Hiden and Zelensky are Superman and Batman trying to stop him.
All three are evil. We can argue over who is the worst, but all three are cut from the same cloth. We should be fighting ALL THREE, not just one.
Agree...two things can be true at once. Putin is evil and so is his adversary, Zelensky in this case.
Saddam Hussein was evil...so was the ayatollah. Supporting one over the other in the 80's turned out to be a huge mistake.
Here we are 40+ years later repeating the same mistake.
This is what opened my eyes: Within months of the raids on Saudi Arabia and jailing the 'prince' that had huge ties to the dems in 2017, Zelensky is installed in Ukraine, and suddenly the dems want 'aid' constantly flowing to Ukraine and the war drums are constantly being beaten. The money laundering moved from SA to Ukraine.
I haven't done any research into this, but I wonder if there have been any 'humanitarian' efforts set up to remove orphaned or homeless children from Ukraine and relocate them to other countries since the fighting started?
