QB - seems we have two capable qbs. Grier has nice arm but Harris does seem to create. I would like to see Harris throw more on time with the offense. I think that will hinder him.

Overall they seem better coached and we are making better throws down the seams with both players. My gut says Grier wins because of the timing but Harris has a good shot and he will play this year regardless. It's really hard to completely understand like the coaches as they know the checks, etc.

RB - Taylor seems about the same. I get killed for this but I just don't view him as elite. Some good jump cuts and quickness but not elite speed or power. A very solid player and his quickness is impressive. That scramble drill pass he caught was impressive. Good catch and open field moves.

I thought both players looked nice physically. We have all loved scarlet but Cronkrite is almost as impressive physically. I wanted to see them more but luckily the game was out of hand. Gotta like the future though.

TE - amazing how a position of weakness last year looks like a position of strength this year. Seems like McGee and Lewis are everything we want from two tightend set. I think McGee is better than he showed Saturday but this Saturday Lewis name called and he answered. Maybe McGee has two this week. Goolsby is also a solid player.

Wr - Robinson is solid and will get more looks. He is an aggressive downfield blocker which is nice for a number one. I admit Powell has been a really pleasant surprise. It felt like we heard a lot of chatter and he answered the bell in the first game. It's nice having a slot guy with his skillset. Calloway is really quick and seems to track the ball well in the air. The wheel route was a nice catch in traffic. I still want to see a jump ball to fullwood

OL - I was disappointed with how we struggled with stunts. It didn't seem like we got dominated by individual match ups. I saw some comments about Halter getting dominated and I didn't see that. I've said for a while that if this line stays healthy they can be in the 4-6 range in the SEC which would honestly be amazing given where we were at spring game. I really like seeing the young guys and Ivey will only help. I'm curious what shuffling they do with Ivey. I would think right tackle to prevent a massive shuffle and move halter inside. This line should be very good next year and I'm sure summers will cleanup the communication issues

I was a little disappointed with running lanes given what I saw from UGAs line earlier that day

Over the offense looked more capable and much better coached. Hopefully we make another big jump in game two

I thought the defense played well but overall I got the sense we aren't as dominant as maybe I once thought. I also consider two of our better players didn't play in neale and Mcallister

D line - this was probably my biggest take away from the game. It did feel like early in the game that they got more pressure than we did. Brantley is impressive blowing up the play but some better lines will use his agressive play against him. I do think we lack a true pass rusher. Hopefully our secondary helps offset that. I didn't see if the starting line was still in when Reed for his sack but I'm really curious if he can be a surprise player for us. He did it in the spring game and now in the first game. Probably a level of competition issue also. Still promising. Seems like group is solid but should be very good next year if we can find an edge rusher

Linebacker - might be thin but I don't care, this group is impressive. I think Anzalone is going to have all sec type year. He is the biggest linebacker but i swear he runs around better than the others. Morrison is such a load running downhill but still makes me nervous in coverage. He got beat on a seam route but QB missed him. The trio of Morrison, Anzalone and davis is really solid. I don't think anyone teaches gap fits like when Charlie was here so I'm curious how that progresses with Shannon

Secondary- missing its second best player in neale and another quality player in Dawson and still dominated. Good grief that group is loaded. VH3 does need to be careful as he got beat twice but QB missed his guy. He is a great player and i actually think level of competition will help him. Wilson and tabor make probably the best trio of corners in the SEC.

Special teams - kickers looked good and Hardin might help us win some games this year. Are his kicks low or is that my imagination? I was disappointed with kick return. That needs to improve. I think our farthest return was the 30. Coach Mac discussed that in his press conference so I'm sure he will work on that

Overall I'm still thinking 8-4 type of year with our schedule. I think you need to be more dominant on the lines than I think we are to compete for national titles. I don't think an east title is out of the realm. East Carolina should provide a good challenge so I'm curious how we respond. Go Gators!
