We certainly do. We can absolutely agree on this point and that we should take action to prevent those people from being able to touch a gun.

Should we crack down on criminals and other dangerous people? Absolutely.
Will that immediately end crime? Of course not but it will help the situation over time.
Same thing with killing machines.
But those killing machines are protected by the second line item in the bill of rights.
We can do stuff. We can get better at being safer. We cannot disarm the American public. It isn't possible and it would be wrong.

We can do things to make gun ownership safer but we MUST also focus on the bad people that use the guns to harm others unlawfully.
Do yourself a favor. Search my posts and find somewhere I've suggested eliminating all guns.

Well, if you take away all guns there would be no gun violence.
The rational adult response would be to attack both issues....criminal behavior and the flood of guns.
But left wing extremists don't want to go after criminals and right wing extremists don't want to go after guns.
