The SEC is currently pushing to have FOUR automatic qualifiers in the 2026 College Football Playoffs.
If they get this... they are further contemplating the idea of eliminating the useless "Championship" game and replacing it with TWO "do or die" PLAY-IN games!
In other words, the #1 and #2 teams in the regular season would get into the Playoffs automatically... while the #3 team plays #6 for one spot... and #4 plays #5 for the other!
This would give SIX teams from the SEC a shot at making the playoffs every year!
