I agree with a lot of this, but fans want to identify and root for their teams, particularly in college. It's obviously a fantasy that the players are college students in the same way that the fans were students, but I think that plays into the fan interest in college ball. Anything that threatens that image, fans are going to react negatively to.

I do think it's more fun to root for good kids. One of the reasons I loved the '04s is because they were great kids, who played like they cared about each other, their coach and the school.
