Summation: Rethink our strategy based on available knowledge. Gives credence to the idea of not vaccinating those not a high risk, and certainly not anyone below the age of 35 unless they have risk factors.
@fatman76 thought you might want to share this with your child, maybe get him to change his mind and rethink the groupthink he was feed. It's highly technical and heavy in statistical math but accurate and consistent with what many of us in the medical profession have long thought, though it is just one doctors mathematical review of the research.

Here is my thing with this vaccine. Encourage people to get it but giving them a choice, the government has teamed up with business to restrict the non vaxxers from the vaxxers. They use lingo like if you’re vaxxed, you can now do this. The “you can now do this” is our own personal freedom. I’m my opinion, it is also discriminatory for any business to enforce such draconian authority. However, one who is not vaccinated can shop somewhere else.
Im also big on the work place staying out of their employees health decisions. That does include hospitals but I do understand the hospital point of view. I do not understand the point of forcing @BSC911 to get the vaccine as a fry cook, being that he works in extreme heat to get fries golden brown.

I agree with you, but here's the thing where I live. I was vaccinated (Pfizer) in December and January. I was given a vaccine card. I carry it in my wallet. They stopped requiring mask for those vaccinated in New Orleans, as one example, a month ago. I stopped wearing my mask. To date, NO ONE has ever asked to see my vaccine card. It is being done on the "honor" system. Given that, everyone must be vaccinated because no one is wearing mask anymore except for when required for employees (I still have to wear mine in the hospitals I work at, for example).
So effectively, in most cases, where I live, their are no extra restrictions for those not vaccinated. Now this may not be true where you live or on airlines or cruise ships, but I suspect no one is really checking for vaccine cards outside those unique circumstances.
In Utah, we don’t care anymore. Bars, restaurants, movie theaters, etc. do not care.
I’m definitely not anti vax, I do want to see more long term data before I pin up, if I choose to pin up.
In the mean time, I’m trying to get down to Gainesville in 2022 for the Utes/Gators game. If I’m not vaxxed by then, I will make a counterfeit card vax card in order to fly.
I encourage everyone’s right to choose to get the vax and will never condemn anyone for getting it but my personal instincts are if someone tells me I have to do something, I will always do the opposite and so the more I’m being told to get the vax, chances are I won’t 🤷🏻♂️
I do find your findings and research fascinating and look forward to see the progress you make with treating the severely sick due to covid.
There is a lot of misinformation out there but I do think you’re on the right course. I hate to use the term “listen to the science”, but we need more docs like you navigating through the mess.

Well all of those agencies have become highly political through the years. And believe me I never listen to the NIH, they’re a research organization and I’m not a researcher. I’m a bedside doctor. I’ll leave the NIH to our boy @swissgator

Yeah that’s stupid on a lot of levels but I will say that any kids it’s in the Make-A-Wish foundation probably does have wrist factors that might make it warranted but then again sadly most of them don’t have that long to live anyway. Oh one more thought. Mostly in this study they measure outcomes as mortality, which does not look at the impact of morbidity or the economic impact of another major outbreak that stresses our hospitals like it did twice last year. The vaccine prevents those events and has very positive implications on the economy in terms of keeping commerce open, that is not factored into this study and is directly related to the thread yesterday on should college teams be vaccinated to avoid game and season interruptions. Look at how that impacted NC State.
That is yet another thing that must be factored into vaccine polices.

The CDC has come out and finally admitted that young males are many times more likely to be hospitalized from the second shot than the illness itself.
I’m hoping the Novavax works with fewer side effects.
As you know I’ve never been a big fan of this vaccine below the age of 35, benefits just do not outweigh the risk in that age group if you just look at it from a adverse reaction versus reduction of mortality rate viewpoint.

Protocols here for contact tracing have changed. I think it’s 5-7 days and then two negative PCR tests in a row.

That’s my issue - let’s just be honest. If my 15YO wants to get the vax then make the risk information easy to find. The odds are still low his heart gets inflamed, but tell me those odds.

I do not disagree with anything she said and again I do not support Vaccination in that age group but I will remind everybody I did have to code an 18-year-old girl that died from coronavirus vasculitis. It’s an unfortunate disease that is put the the entire world into a conundrum for which you have to make Some difficult decisions.
