But still not out of the realm of possibilities.... 🤓

With the NCAA leaving the 2020 season out of the future eligibility question, making it a null year, things could get very interesting for 2021...
Under the 'WHAT IF' column of things that could happen: What if all of the Sr's and other NFL eligible Gators returned for the 2021 season???

In preparation for the storied rivalry against the Dawgs, Pitts will enter what many thought to be his third and final game in Jacksonville while repping the orange and blue.

However, in a press conference on Wednesday, Pitts shut down the ideas this will be his final Florida-Georgia game as a player.

“I wouldn't necessarily say this might be my last,” Pitts said on Wednesday.

“But it's always fun playing against Georgia because it's a high-level game, and each year it comes down to the wire.”

The idea that Pitts returns for his senior season is surely one that is fun to think about. ;)
It brings excitement for the continued success of an already high powered Gators offense in the future.

Sometimes guys come back for their senior seasons to get their degree and/or just play another year of college ball instead of going to the business side of their lives. 1st round picks seldom do, but we'll have to wait and see. Just last year, these are a few players who would surely have gone very high in the draft and came back for another season: Travis, Etienne, Chuba Hubbard. DaVonta Smith, Najee Harris & Marvin Wilson.

If I had a favorite NFL team I would gladly donate from my wallet to trade up to get him. He’s scary good.

While the NCAA is not counting 2020 against an athlete's eligibility, they've done nothing to increase scholarship limits for 2021 or beyond (unless I've missed something) . So if seniors are wanting to return it's going to cut into freshman class numbers at this point. It would be nice if the NCAA would be proactive and address this... but of course we we're talking about the NCAA.

What the common-taters speculate on in the pre-game:

~ The Team that rushes for the most yards, almost always wins the game.
~ iG's comment to that; the team with the most points wins every single time.

UGly Rushing - 29 for 165 Yds, 5.7 YPC, 1 TD -- 28 Pts
UF's Rushing - 37 for 97 Yds, 2.6 YPC, 1 TD -- 44 Pts (+16)

Team
Rec - 30 for 474 Yds, 15.8 Yds/Rec, 4 TD's, L-50

Combined 67 for 571 Yds, 8.50 Yds/Play, 5 TD's, 3 FG's.

RB Davis:

JMOHO's:
Continue to play Whittemore in games....
Continue to coach Henderson at practice....
Continue to get the Soph's & Fr playing time in the secondary.

Random Pipe Dream Speculation from iG:

IF every Gator that's eligible to leave for the NFL remained on the roster, winning a NC in 2021 would become a real possibility for the Gators.

The '3rd and Grantham' D gave up 2 quick TD's, then just 1 TD for the rest of the game.
In the T-O battle, it was UF 3 to UGly 1.
And yes, I realize that the defense is still a 'work in progress' and not a polished unit. The safeties have to get better, i.e. stop getting beat deep!

Hmmmm. Leave for millions in the NFL or take cheap shots from Dogs for free?

Tough choice.

And to be drafted no lower than 10th overall. He will be missed, and it might be a while till we have another athlete just like Pitts.

UGly Rushing - 29 for 165 Yds, 5.7 YPC, 1 TD -- 28 Pts
On a quick look at the entire games rushing stats, it looks good for UGly.

However, pull the 1st play anomaly out and it's slightly below average.

For the rest of the game - 28 for 90 Yds, 3.21 YPC, Zero TD's.

ITPS -- It's the points stupid...

He's a top 10 pick right now. Obviously that change, but it would definitely be tough to say no to that.

Hell, it might put him in Miami. The Dolphins should be pretty well set with that Houston pick. They could pick up Waddle or Pitts to help Tua out.

Malik is not the first, but he's another good RB that could easily be a slot WR. -- iG

From Graham Marsh of S.I.

Malik Davis
has been UF's best running back in terms of catching the ball out of the backfield. Against Georgia, he had a 100-yard receiving game off of 5 catches. (20 Yds/Rec) That'll more than work.

The touchdown catches from Trevon Grimes, Kyle Pitts, Kemore Gamble and Justin Shorter, along with the touchdown run by Dameon Pierce put the points on the scoreboard for the Gators. But behind nearly every single one of those was a drive where Davis had at least one big catch to push Florida down the field.

Part of what has made Trask so efficient this season has been Davis' presence as a safety valve. When nothing is open and Trask is running out of time, he has been consistently dumping the ball off to Davis for a solid 5-6 yards.

That sustains drives. That wins games.

=====

RB/WR Malik Davis in 5 Games, per his UF Bio:

Rushing
- 25 for 101 Yds, 4.0 ypc, L-23
2nd on Team in rushing behind Pierce (4.5 ypc)

Receiving - 15 for 255 Yds, 17.0 Yds/Rec, L-39
3rd on the Team in receiving Yds, 2nd on the Team in Yds/Rec.

Combined - 40 for 356 Yds, 8.9 Yds/Touch,
1 fumble.
