Updated possibilities as long as idle teams this week don't move up in the rankings over other idle teams:

Michigan (only if OSU doesn't make the playoff)
UCF, Boise State or Fresno State (If UCF loses to Memphis its the winner of Boise State and Fresno State)
Oklahoma (only if they lost to Texas)
OSU (only if they lost to Northwestern)
LSU (highly doubtful they would rematch us)

If games are chalk most likely it will be either Michigan or the non-Power 5 conference champ.

Sports Illustrated latest prediction is that Florida will play Michigan in the Peach Bowl. They have UCF vs. Washington State in the Fiesta.

Possible if Oklahoma edges out OSU for that final playoff spot. Not sure if I would rather have that game or UCF because of our bad luck against Michigan.

We can’t seem to get away from that fvckin’ team...
Agree. If Ohio State makes the playoffs Michigan would go to the Rose Bowl, as they always match the Pac-12 with the Big 10 unless hosting a Final 4 game.

We are a lock now. Surprised they had Penn State in front of Washington State. If Oklahoma winds up # 4 that guarantees Texas or West Virginia will get that Sugar Bowl slot which will knock Penn State out of a big bowl most likely.

A Northwestern upset win would knock LSU out most likely.

I almost hope Oklahoma gets beat by Texas again and OSU wins so we don't play Michigan for sure. Some people think they will match us up if Oklahoma ends up # 4.

Michigan v Florida would be so boring again, can’t we do something original?

This seems obvious. Florida vs UCF (David v Goliath in state angle) and LSU v Michigan (never played).

I don’t see how that’s not better than another Florida-Michigan game and a UCF-LSU game that has zero storylines

They want the Coach Mac on the sideline against UF angle. Maybe they will see it your way but if its Boise State instead of UCF I think we get Michigan in the Peach Bowl for sure if its chalk mostly Saturday.

I’d like to play Texas. I think possibly they suck and Herman seems like a real douchebag.

You mean an Urban Meyer assistant has a reputation a douchebag? (That includes a decade of talk about Mullen).

And we’d get an upclose look at Michelle...that matchup would rock!

Man...I'm as a big a fan of brunettes as you are, but I don't get this infatuation with her. She looks old and haggard.

And I dated an older woman who's last name was Haggard.

I know.

Respectfully disagree on this one. She is like one of the sophisticated hot moms you see at the gym...perfect...

Gotta go with Danny on this one. I wouldn't look twice if I seen her walking down the street....But after about 5 drinks at the bar, I might fall in love...Who knows.

Realistically, you want the easiest opponent because Florida winning the bowl means they finish in the Top 10.

That will help with recruiting bigly.

I doubt it affects recruiting at all this class but doing good for some years probably helps in the long run. I doubt any recruit would care much if we lose to Michigan in a bowl game this season.

I remember always hearing years ago during the Spurrier/Bowden era that beating FSU would help a lot there and then we would always fare about the same it seemed while FSU kept getting slightly better classes except for maybe a 2 year span Zook helped bring in a lot of the players as an assistant. We probably matched FSU those 2 recruiting classes despite not beating them on the field.

It will because now Mullen can point to actual results. Last year he could only tell recruits to come to FLorida that they were going to be a Top 10 team and play in a nice bowl. Now he can show that they actually DID that.

If Florida wins the bowl, he can say "See last year they went 4-8. First year there, we went 10-3 and finished Top 10 with a NYD bowl win. Now if you'll join us, we can take the next step and contend for the SEC and NC."

Trust me, it will resonate with recruits. I told you when he was hired that winning helps recruiting.

The latest projection I read today is that if Bama beats Georgia, UF would most likely play Penn St. in the Peach Bowl. If Georgia beats Alabama and both get into the playoffs, the Gators would play Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl.

Penn State would need everything to fall perfect for them to get in.

All Penn State needs is for Ohio State to make the playoffs, which many are predicting. Michigan would automatically go to the Rose Bowl and that would put Penn St. in the Peach. UCF went to the Peach Bowl last year and if they beat Memphis they will go to the Fiesta to play Washington St.

OU is ahead of OSU now. If OU beats Texas, which is better than NW, OSU should have zero chance. Unless they beat NW by 60. They lost badly to Purdue.

They are really good, but this is an if situation. If you rank Oklahoma ahead right now. It simply defies logic they would drop of they beat a better opponent.

Logic doesn't have much to do with the playoff committee's decisions, as we've seen in the past. What you say makes perfect sense, but they've shuffled their rankings of teams at the last minute in the past with no "logical" explanation. We'll see what happens, but I've already heard so-called experts laying the groundwork by saying that Ohio State has more NFL talent on defense than Oklahoma, is a more complete team and has a better chance of beating Alabama than Oklahoma. Not saying it will happen, but I won't be surprised at all if it does even if both teams win.

UCF is highly unlikely. The two scenarios where this would happen are in the Fiesta and the Peach. The Fiesta isn't inviting two Florida teams to Arizona and the Peach isn't inviting UCF two years in a row.
LSU isn't happening. No bowl wants a rematch.

UF is pretty much locked into the Peach Bowl unless Bama & Georgia go to the playoffs, in which case Florida would play Oklahoma in the Sugar. Yikes! As for our opponent in the Peach, it's likely to be Michigan. If Ohio State gets in the playoffs, Michigan would go to the Rose. Then, according to what I've seen this morning, the Peach would invite either Penn St., West Virginia or Texas. I've read justifications for why each of these 3 would get picked. The Will Grier vs. his old team story line would be compelling. One thing for sure. We'll know Sunday early afternoon.

I’m tired of playing Michigan. There’s nothing there even a little bit compelling for me. I couldn’t get hyped over that.

Totally agree, but unless Ohio State makes the playoffs that's probably who we get.

I do remember 2014 when Baylor or TCU won huge in their last game and were already ahead of OSU. OSU beat up on Wisconsin and I spite if the teams ahead of them winning big themselves OSU moved up. They ended up winning it all but no one doubted they were good, good enough to upset Alabama, but were they worthy.

To this day I am convinced Wisconsin laid down. They fell behind early and quit, giving OSU a big win over a good team.
